  1. It's official now that the signs are on!

I've added a couple of appropriate posters, and I've also added a concrete box.

I have no idea what the use of the box is aside from being a very expensive poster holder. If anyone can shed light on it's use, it'd be appreciated!

  2. It's one hell of a gradient coming down into the town!

Crazy that it's happened twice though, that picture of the bubble car with no bogie always gets me!

Am I correct in thinking that the newer station is situated further back from the position of the old station?

Anyway, I've started to scratch build the canopy this evening, it's been a little fiddly but hopefully once painted up it should look better.

p.s. please excuse the Lego Duel of Fates behind!

  3. Here's my entry for the cakebox challenge. It is of course based on Stourbridge's famous little branch line that runs between the Town and Junction.

I intend to build the full length of the station, which would fit into three of the cakeboxes adjacently working as a modular layout. However, to abide by the rules, my entry will strictly be the section that contains the station building.

The Town station has been created from modifying a scalescenes kit. It still needs a lot of work including the canopy above the ticket area, lights and plenty of detailing!

Obviously a Class 153 is going to be far too big for one cakebox, but the little Class 139 Parry People Mover is ideal in terms of length.

I've started to research the units, and the process of 3D printing in the hope of producing one for the layout but this will be a longer term project. For now the Defender will do!

    More updates to follow soon!

  4. I personally really like the finish. The way in which the GWR plates are applied is much better on the HST than on Bachmann's 57 in my opinion

  5. Very nice! Where's the construction site fencing from?

I made it myself. Did the design on Microsoft Powerpoint, printed it off and mounted it on to card. I then placed matchsticks on the back to make them look a little more realistic.

  6. Firstly, my bus garage is now finally on the layout. I'm rather happy with it.

  7. A couple of shots from tonight. I've wired in a double signal tonight which will serve Platforms 2 and 3. I've also given the new GWR Class 57 a run - I can't wait to get some coaches for it!

Shots of the new signals in action!

  8. It was my birthday this week and my fiancee treated me to a day out on the Severn Valley Railway and a new addition! Can't wait to get it on the layout!

  9. hi great set of photos of your stock is the tram an ho scale model mate ?

Pretty sure its HO. it's the Siku tram. I think it only cost me £15 or so.

I've painted it up in a similar scheme to Midland Metro. I'm undecided whether to use it though!

  10. I've been extremely busy with university over the last month or so, meaning the layout hasn't progressed at all recently. This will change over the coming months though!

In the meantime, I fancied sharing some photos of some of my stock!

  11. My dissertation at University is due in just under two weeks, so the layout will almost certainly come to a halt for a little while!

Continuation of wiring meant I had no trains on the layout last night. I did try to get some different angles that may not have been seen before.

  12. Like your new aspect signals joe,

    what make are they??

Cheers Neil, they're made by 'Berko', mentioned about them to Dave earlier in the week actually.

They've got a good range to be fair, I've got my eye on a T junction one with two heads for my central platforms.

Eventually I hope to get some Infra red sensors to get them to change automatically when a train runs past.

  13. Cheers joe, when you popping over again my mate :senile:

Depends on how much I get done on my dissertation next week pal! If I get chance, I might pop over next week or so!

  14. Not too many photos from tonight as most of my work was predominantly sorting out the wiring under the baseboard. I wired in my first ever signal, which was actually very easy to do. I'd highly recommend the 'Berko' range, they seem very good value for money.
