If the set ever comes out as a kit, it'll either turn out to be a surprise hit, or people will be too scared to have a go!
Depending on price id be tempted to buy two to complement my APT

The etches are dimensionally similar to the Hornby model and the profile is almost identical. However it's all academic once its painted as the Hornby colours are totally different.
Cheers
Shane
I will be repainting the lot at some stage anyway so thats not going to be a problem cheers.

Out of curiosity will these be compatable with the Hornby set or would a complete set of etchs be needed for a rake?
-
Order placed, just waiting on my numbers now

I will be such a happy bunny when Shane's etches come out for a full set with the APT-P and I have my APT-E on order. If Shane releases the HST prototype etches and nose thats he's done I will be able to model the period so nicely.
I had initially thought that the etchs were for going over the existing Hornby bodies (suitably modified) but the impression im now getting is that they are for building an entire train from the etchs

I am led to believe there is no limit on orders and all orders placed before end of april will be honoured (subject to a max of 2 per person)

It would appear Shane that your project could have perfect timeing with the launch of the Rapido/Locomotion APT-E

I see there's one on Ebay already...
Now my wife's words are ringing in my ears. I know you want one, but do you need one….
What a silly question!
YES lol

I am really pleased that my guess was right and I will be placing my order tomorrow as it will fit in nicely with my APT-P development plans. I am shocked at the value for money we are getting it's a LOT cheaper than I expected!

Excellent news Shane, your timeing could be perfect as I have (once latest delivery arrives) obtained enough sets for a 10 car rake.
Looking forward to hearing more, your only down road from me as well if you need another guinea pig for testing purposes

Hi All
As Guy states the etches are only tests at the moment as once I had a proper look at the I realised I had made some silly schoolboy errors with the drawings.
Here are a couple of pics taken at Scaleforum.

Hi Shane
Sorry for dragging up an old post but is there any update on these etchs?

Indeed, that said is there any decent books about the APT-E?
