Started painting the station building using a base-coat with dry-brush technique which allows the base-coat to show up as the mortar lines!

I have been helping a friend design and develop an O Gauge layout similar to my OO gauge "Diesel Depot" (see:
Attached are some photos of the O Gauge layout as it nears completion. Note the use of Mirrors at both ends to provide a perspective effect and prevent a small layout feeling too cramped. Build was similar to that for "Diesel Depot" and has been detailed at: https://irishrailwaymodeller.com/topic/7992-br-o-gauge-diesel-depot/

A very impressive start those buildings do look good and from the photo's all appear very strong in construction look forward to seeing this layout develop
Thanks gismorail. Yes they are very strong once assembled and using the quick setting glue recommended by Timber Tracks. Incidentally, this company has ceased manufacturing and is selling off all stock.

The lock-down has given me some time to under-coat some buildings underway and start on the Goods Shed:

I am planning to do a Modern Image Depot which could someone design me a depot for me please?
"Diesel Depot" in OO is my take on a modern depot within 4.5 feet by 9 inches (for more see: https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/134759-diesel-depot/):

Hi, not sure if anyone else has encountered this: a Hornby Class 08 shunter where the connecting rod pivot keeps coming away from the wheel. Numerous attempts to press/push back has proven useless once the motion starts. Any thoughts please?

Diesel Depot now has a colour light signal to control access to the tunnel/fiddle-yard. Control is via the Z21 on tablet. Irish Rail Class 071 No. 073 awaits the off:

Shunters Yard is now equipped with remotely hand-operated lighted semaphore signals and dummy ground signals:

SY's shunter 6407 now gets a helping hand from 0-6-0 saddle tank loco 1364:

SY gets an "Express Parcels" railcar to augment its goods traffic handling capacity. A nice model from Dapol and I have fitted a Mr Soundguy DCC sound chip for extra exhibition/play value!

Started work on a Timber Tracks GWR Signal Box to adorn Buffers Lock! As with their Camerton Station and Cattle Dock kit, it is well presented, fits together well according to the detailed instructions provided.

Looking good Gerry.
Regards, John
Thanks John. Early days yet but I have good experience building "Little Siddington" Wexford MRC's O gauge GWR layout and am currently helping a pal develop an O gauge UK TMD layout (https://irishrailwaymodeller.com/topic/7992-br-o-gauge-diesel-depot/).

For my 7th layout I have been planning for some time to do a compact O gauge to run some of the GWR rolling stock I have collected to run on Wexford MRC's "Little Siddington".
Previously I have done GWR OO "Shunters Yard", BR/GWR "Llangollen", "Cynwyd" and "Llanuwchllyn" all in N and more recently OO "Diesel Depot" (my first OO Irish layout "Ballybeg" is now over 10 years old!) - all are still on the exhibition circuit.
This compact O gauge is to be jokingly titled "Buffers Lock" but hopefully that won't occur on the model itself! The plan is that the layout and stock would fit 1-2 cars obviating the need to hire vans etc for transport to exhibitions. The dimensions will be roughly 13.5 feet by 2.5 feet including the fiddle yard all breaking down into three sections. The baseboards will be made using techniques developed for "Little Siddington" and used for "Diesel Depot" and the O gauge BR TMD currently under development by Wexford MRC members. More details will be revealed as I ramble through this project over the next few months.
To kick off and to help determine the size of the baseboards, I am assembling some of the buildings that I have selected to populate the layout. Firstly the station building I am using is a model of the GWR Camerton Station Building produced by Timber Tracks. This is a laser cut timber product which is very well presented. Each section of the kit is separately bagged making identification of the different bits easy. The instructions are clear and a fast setting timber glue supplied by TT helps the project advance quickly. I have assembled the main structure and am starting to add some detail. The interiour is beautifully detailed including flush toilets and even a desk for the ticket office. I plan to make the roof detachable so I can show the interiour to exhibition visitors. A couple of pictures:

Steve Flint has just been interviewed on Radio 4 "You and Yours" about his alleged scoop for the December edition. As we all know Rod has been "out" for years and has had the layout photographed in American model mags years ago, as well as discussing the hobby in his biography.
Steve did manage to also mention Jules Holland, Phil Collins and Roger Daltrey as also being modellers.

We are well served by all of them with Pete Waterman being another notable railway modeller... (Tom Hanks too?)

I guess what is needed is some form of Railway body that could take a strategic look at the railways and have the authority to make things happen. I just can't think of a suitable name though.
What about calling it "British Railways"?

Diesel Depot is remotely controlled by the Roco/Fleischmann Z21 DCC system via a tablet allowing locos to be controlled on one half of the screen and points on the other. This allows the layout to be controlled from the front enabling better interaction with visitors at exhibitions! The locos on the roster are recognised by their photos and their functions by icons so you don't need to memorise or list the addresses or function numbers for each loco.
