  1. Some interesting footage of steel coil being loaded at Grimsby Docks and Brick Pit Sidings in this video.
  2. Does anybody know if anybody makes an acrylic version of this colour, or a decent match, please?
  3. Cheers Pitbull. Keep up the good work. Looks great so far
  4. Hi, Really like what you have done here. Very atmospheric, well done. Do you know the maker of the kit for the gantry crane, please? I could do with one for a project I have in mind for the new year.
  5. Thank Brian. Apart from these (trip?) workings, would you happen to know anything of where the steel went from Tinsley? Many thanks again
  6. Hi, Does anybody have any detailed knowledge of traffic flows to and from the South Yorkshire steel plants, please?. I am aware of the stainless traffic to and from Grimsby and Port Talbot, but I’m completely in the dark regarding Stocksbrisge, Templeborough, Thrybergh, and Roundwood. What were the products and where were they sent? What sort of scrap did each plant receive? What wagon types were used? Many thanks for any information Marcus
  7. Hi, Thanks for the replies. I used the contact form on the website to, erm, contact the membership secretary, so it should have been read by someone I would have thought?
  8. Hi, I sent a payment via PayPal a week ago and not heard anything back as of yet. I’ve messaged the Membership Secretary and no response. Does anybody know how long I’ll be waiting? Thanks Tinsley Snail
  9. Hi Will, Give precision decals a try regarding loco numbers. He can do you a set of cabside and front numbers with a really fast turn around, and cheap too! (Just a satisfied customer etc....) Marcus
  10. Hi Mike, I am interested in a couple of pairs of bogies please Thanks Marcus
  11. Transferred to ML from ED ??/11/85 Re-numbered to 37322 24/07/86 Named Imperial 24/07/86 Re-numbered back to 37049 08/06/88 Transferred to CF 20/01/91 Try this website for all things class 37 http://www.class37info.co.uk/history.aspx Hope this helps Tinsley Snail
  12. Hi Wayne, No, I am not a member. I have only returned to modelling a couple of years ago, so not really thought about it to be honest. I'll have a look, sounds interesting. Cheers Marcus
  13. Thanks for the SDA numbers Baz. I plan to kit bash the Cambrian SPA into an SDA (at some point in the future....so many wagons to do!!!)
  14. Hi Wayne, Nice grid and wagons. How difficult was it to remove the numbers and markings from the Hornby 56, and what method did you use? I have a 56 I want to re-number and de-name, and have heard it's a PITA to remove Hornby printing. Many thanks Marcus
  15. Thanks Mark. That would make this conversion a little after my time frame modelling wise. Marcus
  16. I am so glad I started this thread. Thanks so much for all the input. I seem to remember seeing SPAs around South Yorkshire carrying rod coil in both single and double rows. I am pretty sure the single rows either went to or were dispatched from UES Aldwarke? Does anybody have any knowledge of steel flows in the South Yorkshire area in the 90s, or is subject worth another thread of its own?
  17. Ah, got you, sorry about that (that'll teach me for being a know it all ) I thinks that is one of the wagons Fat Controller is talking about. Not seen one of these before, thanks.
  18. Hi Porkie, I know, its ace is'nt it? Not my video though. Marcus
  19. Hi Glorious NSE, No, the SKA conversions had two cradles running parallel for two rows of rod coil. Also, the wagons had their sides removed. The wagons I was enquiring about had cradles for carrying strip coil, and kept their original TOPS codes. Marcus
  20. Thanks all for the further info. And special thanks to Baz for the PM. This forum is awesome
  21. Thanks to the both of you. Getting photos of the insides of the wagons is proving extremely difficult (but fun too, I do love a bit of research! lol). There is a tantalizing view at 10;44 on this video, but it is too difficult to see clearly what type of cradles are fitted (Also, check how tightly the coils are packed on the first BAA!) It is interesting to note that all the SPAs in the flickr image have the green door stanchions, even the freshly painted ones. Now to begin the search for suitable paint to represent the primer....
  22. Hi, Hoping some air brake wagon experts can help me please? I came across this fantastic undated image taken at Tinsley - https://www.flickr.com/photos/26871365@N04/20474783170/in/album-72157657380645432/ What interests me is that the SPAs appear to have the fixed bits that the doors fasten to (stanchions?) painted in a lime green(?) colour. I cannot recall seeing this back in the day, and wondered from what year the wagons began to be painted as such? Also, some of the SPAs appear to have a black painted panel with a white circle or square(?) painted in the centre. Does anybody know what this was for? And finally, the reason I found this image is because I am searching for images of SPAs fitted with cradles for strip coil traffic. I know that some were fitted with the same steel built cradles used on BAAs, but I am sure I have read somewhere that some had wooden cradles fitted for this traffic? Does anybody have any info/images at all? Many thanks, Marcus
  23. Am I right in thinking that to make a 47/0 from a 47/4 I would only need to remove the ETS jumpers from the buffer beam? (And a repaint obviously!)
