  1. Hello Kevinlms, Thank you so very much for your reply, It's almost as though you've seen it already as the model is indeed finished in grey primer! The locomotive is made from brass sheet and is fitted with Romford wheels - Bullhead rail coupling rods, the tender unit is constructed from tinplate (soldered up with Bakers Fluid judging by the corrosion under the paint!) and fitted with Jackson wheels. There are no electrical pick-ups - but what looks like a later K's type motor with a plastic gear carrier/gearbox arrangement fitted to the chassis. It's a bit late to leave it as is, as I've been cleaning up the soldering here and there, and have removed the whitemetal axlebox castings from one side of the tender chassis frame in order to refix back in place in a better alignment. I am also in the process of remaking the tender from scratch in tinplate as the existing body is overscale in some areas ( Yeh, that's me being over critical and a perfectionist ) but taken as a whole it's fine . Now, if this is the late Len's work, I will have to consider what to do next and possibly stop "improving" but finish it. But I do like the look of the completed locomotive - and I may build a new one from scratch. I'll take a photograph of the Locomotive as is - and see what you think about it's possible provononse. Sorry, if you all thought that you were not going to get any acknowledgement or reply, BT line/broadband problems have delayed getting back on line - So, apologies to all and many thanks for your collective interest. Thanks once again for the steer to the Railway Modeller July 1991, and January 1992, I'll definitely have to try to source copies! Thank you, also Wickham Green, Nick Holliday for the H Class reference and Gordon A for the photo request (I'll do my best to bet something online). Best regards, Roy
  2. Hello Everyone, Some little time ago I came across a scratchbuilt but only part completed model of an 0-8-0 tender locomotive ( 4mm scale - 16,5mm ), my initial thought was that it was of a North British prototype. However, on closer examination of the model and the box that it came in, it looked every bit that of a Wainwright, and this confirmed by handwriting on the end of the Lima box it was stored in. Whoever built this loco and tender, made a reasonable fist of it and I can't imagine it just being a flight of fancy. If it is a "real prototype", it deserves to be completed and run. Does anyone have any knowledge or information about a possible 0-8-0 Wainwright, if it's real then the possibility of drawings would be very welcome. Many thanks everyone and I hope i'm not not wasting everyone's time! Best regards, Roy
  3. Hi Richard, Thank you for the information and links, that takes the guess work out of component selection. I went on one site looking for the speed controller - and there were so many!!!!! to choose from, I would almost certainly have selected the wrong one. Thank you for your trouble. Best regards, Roy
  4. Hello Richard, I like your approach, with help, on the Unimat motor problem (I must try and get one of these lathes - mine is a Myford ML7 - a bit big and has to stay in the garage!). I've been looking for a compact low voltage motor to power a small "sensitive" drilling machine, which is usually powered off of a lathe mounted pulley with belts. When I was given this little rig it was powered by a 3/4 HP motor, it worked but was just ridiculously dangerous - so much power. Never thought of a scooter motor - perfect. So I've found where to obtain a motor, but from where did you obtain the other components? Are you able to confirm website details please. Best regards, Roy
