I found your site by accident looking for some of the old loco,s I worked on and alas on this very page ..I was a shunter then driver at Gedling colliery in the 70,s and early 80s. having started as a wagonlowerer . We had King George an old steamer , a Ruston, 2 Vanguards ( seen on this page) and a large Sentinal. ( Susan , Gillian, and Julian ) Train buffs would always come and photograph when our spare loco was pulled on a haulage rope up the steep hill to Mapperley Wharf.
