  1. Does anyone know the time period during which class 45s and, in particular, class 45 144 "Royal Signals" carried blue livery with black roof? (I have, in mind, new Heljan model of this loco with plated over headcode box)
  2. Many thanks for your replies. So I could get away with running a pair of the Bachmann FGAs with a couple of the Hornby KFAs (1989/1990 period)?
  3. I understand that FGA/FFA wagons operated in fixed rakes but would KFAs ever have been included in the same train i.e. coupled to a rake of FGA/FFA wagons (late 80s period)?
  4. Does anyone know whether all Norwich based class 03s ran with a match wagon in yellow livery (TOPS era)? Many thanks
  5. Thanks for reply. The error may be mine as photos not very clear. However, I have found a photo of a blue grey mark 1 BG (early 80s) without a TOPS code by the running number. What would that indicate?
  6. I have seen photos of some BR mark 1 BGs in blue and grey livery with "NOV" above/below the running number. Why is this the case with only some BGs? Many thanks
  7. Can anyone assist as to when VDA vans first appeared in Railfreight red and grey livery please. Would they have appeared in this livery as early as mid/late 1980? Many thanks
  8. I had, in mind, the West Midlands and surrounding areas but including cross country services (formed of non-gangwayed stock). Were any diesel hauled?
  9. Thanks for your replies. Can anyone help as regards loco classes generally used to haul non-gangwayed stock (late 50s/early 60s Midland Region). I believe Stanier 4ps were common. Any others?
  10. Can anyone assist as regards the use of brake coaches in trains formed of non corridor suburban coaching stock on the Midland Region in the late 50s/early60s period (in particular, ex LMS stock) It appear that there were generally two with one at each end of the train. How common was it for a train to include only one brake coach? If only one brake coach was used, where would this have been marshalled in the train?
  11. Thanks for replies. I was especially interested to know how common the use of Britannia class and class 40s on Pullman trains was at that time.
  12. I have some Bachmann mk1 Pullman coaches (white roof) which, I believe, date from the early 60s. What type of locos would generally have been used to haul the Pullman trains during this period? I expect this would include Gresley pacifics and Deltics. Any others e.g. class 40s, BR standard class 7 steam?
  13. Between which dates did class 33s (in particular, class 33 101) carry blue livery with white cab window surrounds?
  14. Were any loco classes/sub classes (class 25 and 31) still vacuum braked only by the early 80s or would they have been dual braked by then? Were there any locos that were vacuum braked only (of any class) still in service by 1990?
  15. I was referring to the change to the NSE livery (change of red stripe to blue) as described in the post by Steven B.
  16. Very helpful, thank you. Do you know when the change to the colour of the stripe on NSE coaches was introduced?
  17. Apologies, I should have made clear that my question was specifically in relation to coaching stock (Bachmann describe livery in current catalogue as "Original" but I have seen reference elsewhere to "Revised").
  18. I have seen reference to NSE (Original) and NSE (Revised) livery. Would someone please let me know what the revision was and, in particular, when it was introduced.
  19. Many thanks for your replies. Just t clarify, how likely would it have been to see mk1s and mk 2As in the same rake? (would mk1s in use at that time have been fitted with air brakes?) With regard to livery, how common were rakes which included both NSE and Regional Railways liveries?
  20. I had in mind, services that might be hauled by a class 37/4 or 33 in particular so secondary routes e.g. South Wales to North West England (if that's a secondary route).
  21. I had in mind, late 80s and class 37/4s operating into/out of South Wales in particular
  22. I'm looking to put together a rake of coaches for a loco hauled passenger train operating into and out of south or central Wales around 1989- early 1990 (00 scale). Any suggestions as to coach types (e.g. mk1 restaurant buffet/BGs, mk2As) and liveries that are likely to have been seen in the same rake would be appreciated.
