  1. Coach halves are joined up and I’ve primed everything. Spent ages filling and sanding the joins and still not 100% but will have to do. Brush painted the cab ends this morning and gonna spray the br grey on later
  2. Yeah this one going blue/grey. Not sure what I’m going to number it yet. Was possibly thinking 508 101
  3. There’s lips on the body pieces. Need a bit of fettling to fit together
  4. Yeah that’s it. Been meaning to buy the kit for ages but this lockdown has given me an excuse to buy one lol
  5. I built an Ayjay class 507 kit a few years ago and it looked ok but was never happy with cab fronts and how the chassis fitted so ordered the eBay 3D printed kit. Got the class 507 kit off eBay today. Made a start adjusting the floors to fit and the bodies to fit together. Waiting on some humbrol filler before I can start sanding and prepping bodies for primer. Cab end is from the old style kit I bought on eBay a couple of years ago and never got round to ordering the other components so used it to practice painting.
  6. Just ordered the kit, should keep me occupied during the lockdown lol. How you getting on with it? Have you ordered the merseyrail logos from fox transfers?
  7. Looks spot on mate, I built the Ayjay 507/508 kit a couple of years ago and it didn’t look great. Tempted to buy this kit and give it a go as it looks much better. Nice work, look forward to seeing more progress
  8. Yeah it's the way the body is mounted on the chassis. Flimsy plastic unfortunately. I'll look into sorting it at some point
  9. Got some pics this morning. Made a baseboard display for it a couple of months ago. Model still isn't finished, need to sort handrails, redo the lights properly and I'm struggling to get the coaches to sit right
  10. Hi thanks mate, no haven't got any more pics. Still haven't finished it yet, need to make some cab handrails and sort the lights out. Made a baseboard display for it a couple of months ago with 3rd rail and some trackside detailing, will put some pics up at some point Cheers
  11. Fantastic job mate well done. I had a go at building the aj models 508 and it's a bit rough looking. Painted mine in the yellow regional railways livery. Looking forward to seeing yours with the decals applied
  12. I'd like to think a 507 and a 508 will be kept for preservation. I'd love to see one restored back to the original br blue and grey and used for special occasions like they once did with the 502 back in the late 80s
  13. That's great thanks very much. Yeah I've been keeping an eye on the Cumbrian coast 37s and was on 409 when the brakes failed. Seen it was back out again and had issues with the brakes again
  14. Watched 37422 depart Preston this morning, what happened to 403? Remember seeing 403 passing maryport a couple of weeks ago to rescue 409 after the brake release valve had broke leaving us stranded on the line just before Workington station
  15. What happened to 403 yesterday? Stopped at corkickle and 402 came to take it back to kingmoor sidings
  16. Ah that's good to hear, 403 is one of my favourites. Hopefully they've sorted the brake issue on 409 now. I had the pleasure of being behind it when it first failed coming into Workington last week lol
  17. I'm hoping the sellafield to Crewe flasks run tonight and it's a pair of 37s. Shame the loco hauled service only runs to Preston once a day
  18. Cheers guys. 37403 failed at barrow this morning on its way to Preston. Another loco from Carlisle kingmoor has been sent to barrow to replace it, not sure which loco though
  19. Are the 37s generally reliable? Noticed a few failures on the Cumbrian coast this week while I was staying in ravenglass. Was on 37402 departing barrow Tuesday morning and it wa having trouble applying power then heard it had failed later on. Went on 37409 for a trip to Carlisle and back with the Mrs and it failed just before Workington. Had to be evacuated off the train and onto a dmu. Something to do with loosing air pressure for the breaks so they had jammed on causing the train to block the line. Watched 37403 pass after we where dropped off at maryport which was a nice surprise. Noticed 409 had failed again at Preston this morning due to a problem with brakes again. Heard quite a few people have complained about the loco hauled services running late or having issues which is a shame as I enjoy the 37s Thanks Marc
  20. Those coaches look spot on Phil well done. Which transfers have you used? I've got the railtec ones. Wasn't sure whether to go for r3sprays or railtec but r3sprays didn't have them in stock at the time of ordering
  21. Hi thanks, I think I'll try the 1st method you mentioned filling the holes with a glazing glue and paint the back Cheers
  22. Couple of pics, decided against putting bulbs in as I need 5 and there was too much wiring and messing about with diodes so I've just painted the lights on to see how it looked
  23. Ok thanks very much I'll look into it Cheers
  24. Hi, it's not far off now. Sorted the couplings out and after testing it as a unit I need to add some weights to stop it wheel spinning. Haven't sorted the lights out yet, that's next on the agenda as well as fitting the handles on the cabs. Will get some more pictures up ASAP
