  1. A bit more scenic work done. Some static grass & vegetation in the church yard & around the village done.
  2. Started some work on the small village on baseboard 1 at the far end. The house on the right is another from the N gauge secondhand job lot I bought, which will be the farmhouse. Then a few houses along the lane are now in place. Some static grass added around the Chapel building on baseboard 2. Also some more sheds, glasshouses & work done on the allotments on baseboard 2 And finally for now, a grounded van in place in the PW yard Cheers, Stu
  3. Next, some more static grass done on the hillside behind the signal box & embankment next to the tunnel portal Made a start on the allotments area at the top of the hillside. Also built the row of terrace houses adapted from the Scalescenes kit to suit the look I want.
  4. Some more good progress made on the layout. Grounded van body in place in the field at the foot of the embankment Made use of a Chapel building which came with a recent job lot of N gauge bits I bought recently. This I've placed on the small area of land near the Goods Depot.
  5. Thank you, a good idea! I'll have to look into that. Cheers, Stu
  6. Also made a start on some fencing, vegetation & static grass above the tunnel portal & on the hillside behind the signal box. This hillside will be made up of fields & smallholdings/allotments with pigeon coop, sheds & stables. Also a small row of terrace houses on the top corner of the hillside. And also some work started on the churchyard & small village on Baseboard 1 Cheers, Stu
  7. Some static grass & vegetation is now completed around the corrugated tin garages, under & on the two bridge embankments.
  8. Thank you! Modelling in N gauge can be a bit challenging at times but I'm aiming to get it as realistic looking as I can which isn't always easy. Judging from your kind comments I must be doing something right! Cheers, Stu
  9. Thanks to all for the kind comments! Cheers, Stu
  10. In the corner of baseboard 2 there is a siding which will be part of a small permanent way yard. That's all for now, Cheers, Stu
  11. Signal box at Quarry Junction in place, also some more scenic bits & pieces put in place. Some scratchbuilt streetlamps added, I will wire these in along with all the building lighting at a later date.
  12. Detailing & scenery bits put in place around the Goods Depot area
  13. Hi, all! Another update on the layout, all trees now in place either side of the viaduct. Front edge of baseboard pained black & name plate added.
  14. This bit was a last minute idea & change of mind at Quarry Junction. I had an idea of putting an extra single track bridge in disused condition alongside the other rail bridge. It meant a small amount of alteration to the scenery but I thought it best to do this now while the layout is still under construction. The disused branch line runs next & passed the Goods Depot, a level crossing into the Goods Depot, the disused bridge & partially ripped up track which would have then ran behind the signal box & joined the mainline. I'm pleased with the results so far... Cheers, Stu
  15. Hi all. Another update on my Porthkerry layout. Some pavements & road markings done on baseboard 2 Quarry Junction area.
  16. A bit more done on the layout. Some more trees planted.. Finished off the vegetation around the waterfall
  17. Cheers, timbers are 50mm x 75mm for the frame
  18. A few buildings done & some to finish off, been doing these over the last few days/evenings while the snow has stopped progress in the shed. Brass etch signal box finished off, a few scratch built corrugated tin garages, and lastly a Scalescenes cottage that still needs a couple of bits doing to finish it off. Cheers, Stu
  19. Some more work on the baseboard 2 fictional area, I've named this section as Quarry Junction. The Quarry Junction goods depot is now in place along with its weighbridge building. Also various bits of fencing in place. Some signals fixed in place, these I will wire in & get working at a later date. Also an attempt at some point rodding done with some microstrip.
  20. More of an update, up until the snow arrived I had made a bit more progress on the shed layout. Some more static grass done on the field below the embankment on baseboard 2..
  21. Lastly for now a bit more work done on the waterfall & cliff face on baseboard 2, small trees & vegetation, also some stone walling at the base of the cliff, the walls will need toning down a bit to match the cliff face a bit more as it looks too pale. Cheers, Stu
