  1. Some photos of 5742 from a few years ago. As well as the weathering, the model has been detailed with: Etched lamp irons, Sanding gear, New vac pipes, Separate smokebox door dart, Steam heating pipes Etched working screw link couplings Modelu crew fitted
  2. Not at all, and I’m happy to confirm the PO wagons are sold as are the two kit built coaches. All that is left is one 57xx pannier and my Dcc Lenz system 57xx £100 DCC Lenz system £200
  3. Well, for the moment I think it's time to sign off on this thread. If the sale doesn't happen of the layout I'll do an update. I had hoped there might have been takers on the two bespoke kit/scratch built coaches. I might try ebay, but I don't want them to go for peanuts. Best to keep hold of them into the new year. Thanks for all the support over the last three years. Currently working on my next narrow gauge layout, this time set on the 'Mid Sodor Railway' circa 1937 which I'm hoping to make a start on over the festive break. Have a lovely Christmas everyone.
  4. The coaches have now been sold, and the layout is currently reserved for a potential buyer in the new year.
  5. I also have these available, part of the redundant plan to model Bala:
  6. Quick update, pending payment the two weathered Presflos have now been sold. Also should add, I have a number of boxed Bachmann (and some Hornby) wagons and rolling stock to offload. Mostly Vans/Wagons but I've some Hornby boxed Collett Coaches too. Drop me a PM if anyone is interested. Really wanting to move as much of this stock on before Christmas if I can.
  7. I haven't yet Ade, but I'm planning to put it on my Tom Foster Weathering page.
  8. Same Phil. Really could do with some modelling funds with the sale of this stock.
  9. Evening everyone I thought it was worth posting an update. As of now the majority of locomotive stock has now been sold. I do have some stock still available which maybe of interest: 1. 57XX 5742 (Fully detailed and weathered) 2. Presflo Wagons x 2 (Fully weather and detailed with screw link couplings) 3 .Non Corridor kit built coaches Collett E157 Brake Composite and Hawksworth E167. Both of these coaches are not available RTR or as a full kit. Both were built/scratch built by Jonathan Wealleans of this parish using Worsley Works sides I had commissioned along with Comet parts. Very much two bespoke coaches, and of particular interest to Western Region Modellers. 4. Lenz 100 DCC system and Transformer There are other bits and pieces on offer, which I'm happy to discuss......in particular the layout itself!
  10. Here are some recent commissions I finished. The client kindly provided me with photographs to work from. I particularly liked working on the 08 Shunter and USA Dock tank.
  11. Things didn't work out with fitting the Narrow Planet motion to Skarloey. Tony has done a full write up in 'Wright Writes' below. I'm going to look at retro fitting the original overscale cylinders to Skarloey for the time being so I can get him finished, and then see about retro fitting NP motion when they re-release the motion kit. Special thanks to Tony for his help today. It proves I wouldn't have managed on my own.
  12. Simmering under the trees on a crisp autumnal morning...
  13. Thanks guys! Off down to Tony Wright’s shortly for some help putting the etched motion detailing kit from narrow planet on SKARLOEY. It will be great to have both engines on the layout at last.
  14. Thanks for the kind comments guys! It’s been such an exiting journey making Scaca and this was my first venture in creating such a variety of scenics. North Wales, the Lake District and the Awdry books themselves were the inspiration for the scenics themselves and that seems to have worked well. The water tower and aqueduct used inspiration from Ty Dwr on the Talyllyn for the actual look of the stone work and weathering, but the actual design comes from the Awdry books. Today I’m heading off down to Tony Wright’s for some help putting the etched piston rods on Skarloey. Then both old engines will be together again at last, to work their little line in the Eastern District of Sodor. Oh and plans are afoot on the next Skarloey layouts…..after so many failed projects, making the fictional Awdry world ‘real’ seems to be my calling.
  15. Thanks John Yes, I went with the later reprints, and got them for a decent price too!
  16. No worries, we all have to learn these things at some point. Boyd was one of the pioneers of the Talyllyn Railway and wrote a number of books. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_I._C._Boyd
  17. Thanks Ian and take care. I'm over the Pennines in the Yorkshire Dales. I drove over to Lancashire today to meet my Mother for a birthday lunch in the Trough of Bowland. Very little rain other than on the way home a bit....but I've seen the photos around Keswick and the flooding. I love Lakeland, and go hiking most weekends. Stay safe!
  18. Thanks Ade, yes we did thank you. It was fairly quiet just Lass and myself. I have ordered several books on the Welsh Highland and the Ffestiniog which I'm really looking forward to arriving. Meanwhile, in the East District of Sodor: It is a crisp autumn morning in the Benglas Valley, after a night of heavy rain fall. David Vickers is heading down to check on his 'Sudrian Shorthorns' with border collies Fly and Nell, while one of the 'Forestry Gangers' takes a break after clearing the crossing of mud. With the forestry vehicles passing back and forth over the crossing and the amount of rainfall around the fells, the crossing has the potential to become choked with mud and earth. This responsibility is that of the Sudrian Forestry Commission, due to previous occasions where both 'SKARLOEY' and 'RHENEAS' have derailed.
  19. Thank you all for your lovely messages. I've had a quiet day pottering about, and doing a bit of weathering (more on that later in the week). Here's another scene from Scaca Fell Forestry Crossing: Autumn 1943 All this military involvement has soured Bill Thwaite's love for the little railway, a railway that had been his life from the age of 12, when he became an engine cleaner in 1890. Next week Bill will hand in his notice to Foreman Mr David Hugh and General Manager Mr Roger Sam as he formally retires.
  20. One quarry worker ponders his future, as news reaches the men of the death of Sir Handel Brown. The future looks fairly bleak for the men of this remote Sudrian valley. Could there be a glimmer of hope?
  21. Thanks Nick! Not got much planned, nipping out shortly to Tesco (living the dream ). In the meantime, some more shots with the new figures: With the War Department's acquisition of some of the old slate workings...it does feel like the War has finally arrived to this remote valley of East Sodor.
  22. Much appreciated Chris, thank you! Well tomorrow is my birthday, so other than doing a little bit of weathering, I plan to do some more posing of the new figures that have arrived freshly painted from @Dan Evason
