  1. re ; stairs - have a look at Giles stairs on Denton Brook? Les
  2. Great work Tricky. Brilliant signal with 'stays', brickwork, stonework etc, and little building is exquisite(maybe a thin paper overlay on door to give it some extra relief?) Paintwork on brickwork is quite special. Can't quite get my head around 'geography' of that left hand corner, does street disappearing into distance cut straight across lines entering tunnel? Can't wait to see how you tackle the other buildings. Jusf brilliant Les PS.just rename it Midland Memories then it can be anywhere you choose!
  3. Signal post looking great Ken, as do the flats. Will you be building the house/houses that appear in front of the flats in the original photo? Or is life too short, my maxim! Hope you're still OK health wise. Les
  4. Sorry Jim, I thought you were having a go cause a previous pic of mine was on its side, but the latest one came out OK on my iPad.Just looked at your2mm opus and I am mightily impressed. It takes me all my time to see in O gauge. Les
  5. Hi Rich, never get tired of seeing your layout and locos. Have you got a D30 amongst your stud? I'm thinking of saving up for, or taking out a mortgage for an o gauge one! I just like the Scotts and some of their names are classic. Les
  6. thanks for the 'like' Jim. No not 'down under' , unless you class south of Liverpool as 'antipodean'! Les
  7. Why has this dried up? Here's my C16 in I hope the correct livery. I have a pic in later LNER guise numbered 67491, and a pic in BR colours but none as shown, if anyone can enlighten me as to the correctness? This is from a 'sassenach' although brought up in Dundee ( yes I know someone had to be) so come on you guys, let's see some more Scottish gems! Les
  8. dont worry Rich, I think I've solved it by chance. The pic to Ken ended up the right way, God only knows how, ha,ha! Les
  9. Ken, I've tried and tried on my iPad to get this image the correct way up but whether I choose the correct way up image or the upside down one it still appears on here upside down! Hope you can invert it your end? Nearly finished now apart from cab interior and coal load! Now I've pressed attach this file it has corrected itself! Les Ps. Hope all is well in the kingdom!
  10. Ken, would only allow me one photo and its sideways. I don't know how to fix it, sorry.
  11. looking good Ken. Especially like the A2 under the bridge. Hope you're feeling a lot better and not too many more visits to Nine Wells? Thought I'd update you on state of play on my C16 (if I can print it off that is). Just really needs buffers and buffer pipe works and lamp irons/brackets. Oh and coupling rods and transfers. It's going to be 7491. I have a pic of it at Dundee , posing beneath the Queens Hotel. What colour would buffer housings be...........red? Anyway here's two pics. Hope the come out right way up if at all, ha,ha.
  12. Glad to see you back in the saddle! Les
  13. hi Ken , hope all is well. Meant to post yesterday, but have a Merry Xmas and a great New Year. All the best Les
  14. Yes Graham, I have seen the Duchess that the Polish guy did, just amazing? Thats what sort of inspired me to have a go, but I'm afraid I cheated and used the kit as a template (probably shouldn't be admitting that, oops)! Ducked out of making the wheels and boiler fittings though. It's not motorised but I think it adds to the fleet. Cheers Les
  15. welcome aboard, but what happened between early November (Wavetree diesel depot) and today? Have you been to Damascus? Looking forward to your journey into 'O'. Can't wait to see you turn your talents to the 'senior' scale! Fellow scouser Les
  16. Don't mock the afflicted! Ha,ha, I've only just got my head around posting pics! Don't know why they come out like this, they're not this way up when I post'em!Les
  17. Why have one 439 when you can have two? You wait all day and then two turn up! One brass, one card! Not quite finished yet. Forfar 'Crab' lurking in background, on my fledgling Arbroath shed layout. Some fantastic engines on here. Hope these don't lower the tone! Les
  18. hi Ken, hope everything is OK health wise? Sorry to bother you if not. Just finished(nearly) the second 439. Both just static models at the minute. Might motorise the brass one at some stage in the future! Need to sort out the crankpin heads binding on the brass frame bushes! Hope you get your mojo back soon Best wishes Les
  19. Hi Ken , few more pipes and transfers, and a driver! Needs vac pipes etc and some weathering to disguise my botch up! Sorry to keep hijacking your thread, must do something about that! Cheers Ls
  20. thanks so much for that Ken. It's not like you can see them particularly but I'll create something. I've just botched up my paint job by trying to varnish over some transfers. Hopefully I can retrieve situation. Some Modelu figures received. Excellent, though how people paint them in 4mm! Les
  21. hi Ken, wonder if you can help? What are the bulb like things under front and rear buffer beams on 439 on page 64 of 'Two decades of Scottish steam''? Also upside down T shape 'lever' between trailing wheels? Do you have any idea? Les Ps. What are you building flats out of?
  22. thanks Ken , I do have the brass kit to fall back on! Ha,ha. My good wife has just bought me the C16 kit for my upcoming 'major' milestone! Now I have two kits to mess up with solder! Thanks also to all who gave me advice on quartering wheels Cheers Les
