not sire if this has been said on here, but thought id throw this in, I come from a background of HGV driving, my dad has drove HGVs for 40 years, starting on F86 & F88 hauling rail from workington steelworks to docks, trough to today haulng mix loads of household goods,
and we've talked about this and have one concern is the hijacking of the trucks, with the trucks being connected by computers all you need is someone to pull up behind and hijack the system and take control of the trucks, locking out the drivers and taking control of the rigs,
but are suggestion to self driving trucks is copying the aussies and using roadtrains, the trucks in the uk are capable of hauling them a road train of 3 trailers, This would be more economical cutting out the use of multiple trucks saving fuel, cheaper to run using two drivers, only cost woould be making the dollies to connect the trailers, we've talked about this a few times, you'll have people complaing about how dangerous they are and unsave, but if people knew how to drive they would see how save they are, (i know as my dad has been on the receving end of bad drivers in the past trying to cut up wagons) but for road trains all you need is to build trailer parks close to the motorway use a shunter to assemble to trains couple the unit up and send them on there way
Denby built a protoype of a 'Eco-link trailer' which is basically a B Double trailer used in austrillia

reduced running costs, bigger profit, be cheaper than self driving trucks
