  1. I can only assume some at Hornby noticed Coca-Cola was trending today and didn’t bother to check *why* Coca-Cola was trending…
  2. I’m very pleased to announce that my new book “The St Ives Branch Line: A History” will be published by Pen & Sword Books this summer. Contains a full history of the St Ives branch from the nineteenth century to the G7 Summit. Includes around 120 stunning photos, mostly in colour, of the line through the ages. 60,000 words plus a foreword by broadcaster Tim Dunn. Available to pre-order now from some sellers: https://linktr.ee/Stivesbranch
  3. Interesting that even the new signage retains the retro-style totems and green-and-white signage. Given that the “new” trains are in the latest SWR livery I’m surprised they didn’t go for standard SWR signage.
  4. Voted. I’ve voted for the Isle of Wight options, however I think the IOW livery options could be better explained. “SR Lined Green” could theoretically be either Maunsell or Malachite green, while “British Railways Green” presumably means Malachite in this instance, but that probably isn’t what most people think of when they read the phrase “British Railways Green”...
  5. Yes, the two ex-IOW vehicles are control trailer no. S27 and trailer no. S49, both of them in the middle of the four-car rake. When I visited recently s49 was still carrying NSE livery on one side only.
  6. The LTTG’s homepage is here: http://www.lttractiongroup.co.uk/#/. I think it confirms they still intend to use batteries.
  7. In case anyone isn’t aware yet, Kernow/Bachmann/EFE have just announced three new Adams O2s - including two malachite Isle of Wight examples. https://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/p/65604/E85007-EFE-Rail-LSWR-Adams-O2-Steam-Locomotive-number-182 https://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/p/65605/E85008-EFE-Rail-LSWR-Adams-O2-Steam-Locomotive-34-Newport https://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/p/65606/E85009-EFE-Rail-LSWR-Adams-O2-Steam-Locomotive-number-31-Chale
  8. Fair enough - but I think the original question was about Class 484s. All the other conversions (to date) have been Class 230, whether diesel electric or battery electric.
  9. Depends what you mean by ‘completed’. Two units are at Ryde and the remaining three are at Eastleigh - that’s the full fleet of five units.
  10. There’s a list on the Wikipedia page, assuming it’s correct. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_484
  11. Mine arrived today! (All four Isle of Wight versions). Great models - very pleased with them!
  12. I don’t know if he’s on RMWeb but there’s a modeller called Mark Pretious who has modelled that very train.
  13. Wow! There’s quite a few photos of that test around but I had no idea there was actual moving footage! Brilliant!
  14. My order was placed the following day so you’re definitely ahead of me
  15. The FYN one was LSWR no. 734 but the current Hornby one seems to be LSWR no. 735 - but even if it were 734 it doesn’t have a Drummond boiler so would be inaccurate for how it ran on the IOW.
  16. It was originally leased from the LSWR and apparently ran in full LSWR livery - with no changes to number or lettering - for several years. Most sources seem to agree that it was repainted in a new “bright green” livery with black & white lining and FYN lettering circa 1916.
  17. Pretty sure I’ve read that - based on the photographic evidence - they didn’t always have the right loco matched up with the right coaches! Incidentally, the FYN’s Terrier was a bit of an oddity as it had a Drummond boiler (fitted when it was owned by the LSWR). I’m not sure either Hornby or Rails would have the tooling to accurately represent that?
  18. I’m crossing my fingers for IOW Central! (Surely only a matter of time before someone does a Terrier in that livery...)
  19. Definitely wishful thinking, I’m afraid! The Listed Building Consent would relate to the fact that the entire station at Brading is Listed, so (presumably) any replacement lamps or new PRM-compliant ramps would require consent before they could be installed.
  20. The EOR-based group are having two units (006 & 008) but plan to restore both of them to operational condition (with one carriage out of the four to carry the batteries). I gather the remaining units have been used as spares donors for some time and don’t necessarily have many useful components left on them.
  21. I assume that applies to those of us who pre-ordered in 2014 as well?
  22. Only just discovered this thread but, as someone else has kindly pointed-out, the full background to the Class 503 proposal can be found in my book ‘Ryde Rail: A History of Tube Trains on the Isle of Wight’ - available to order here https://uk.bookshop.org/a/811/9781910809570 or from all good bookshops. I remain extremely grateful to the RMWeb member (who chose to remain anonymous in the book) who very kindly supplied me with all the information about the Class 503 proposal.
  23. Apparently 006 is back in service today (reportedly having been repaired with parts from 008). I understand the IWSR have been promised 007 and the LTTG have been promised a “working” unit - so presumably that would be 006.
  24. Brading, allegedly. To be parked in the long-disused platform 3 as part of the existing heritage centre which already encompasses the signal box and parts of the station.
