  1. I very much agree with the sentiments about an HST pack vs 37s/47s. That said some mk1s in Regional Railways livery would be very nice to see.
  2. To deviate away from DCC, but staying on the topic of APTs, what was the function of RDB977527? Has there been any info on what form this vehicle will take in model form? Apologies in advance for potential repetition.
  3. To add my two penneth worth to this, easy wins as a modern modeller: New Mk4s and DVT, covering all liveries for the 91 releases and variations thereof Maybe further class 91 liveries Modern DBSO (DRS/Network Rail) HST liveries from the early privatisation era TPE 802 for those who want it plus rereleases of the mk2fs in various liveries, network rail and RTC coaches For the wishful thinking in me: Electrostar (classes 375/377/387) Proper Eurostar centre coaches including the catering vehicles Greater Anglia FLIRT class 755 (I’ll get my coat for that one) Finally, a big fan of their Terriers, so keep ‘em coming!
  4. Top service by Collett’s for me this week. Personalised service and Leigh is a pleasure to speak with over the phone- so much so that I keep spending money with him!
  5. Wow! Just wow! He said through gritted teeth having just bought the kit! I’ll be registering my interest anyway
  6. After seeing a few videos on YouTube of these coaches, I’m very much looking forward to the scotrail coaches!
  7. Surely a simple set up of switches on the underside to isolate marker lights at either end, as desired, along with the ability to turn cab lights off would be a solution? At least this way, it’ll avoid overly complex electronics keeping costs down, plays to Hornby simplicity of this, as well as catering for the discerning modeller.
  8. Saw 'Welby Lane' today. A wonderful layout and one of the best at the exhibition. So many interesting rail vehicles, certainly an overlooked area of modelling!
  9. Oh yes!!! I've always liked the Dapol 08. I suspect I might end up having a small foray into the world of O gauge; an EWS and railfreight one for me! (All in good time of course)
  10. While on the subject of EMUs, the Electrostar family (375/377/387 in particular) are just crying out to be produced. A wide operating area, detail variations and a wealth of liveries. A Hornby produced model would also not require a second mortgage to buy one!
  11. So clearly, the website chose to post my post twice. Oh well!
  12. Reading an article in the modelling press soon after they announced the 87, that it was between that and the 91, maybe the time has finally come for the other locomotive? Or, for a challenge, an 89.... 13. If this has been already covered then I apologise for the duplication. Maybe someone could direct me to the appropriate thread? Anyway, I've decided to bite the bullet and start doing some proper modelling as the hobby isn't getting any more affordable and I'm on a budget. I've recently bought a Lima class 31 and 37, and I intend to change the motors for ones found in CD players. I've seen it done on YouTube and thought "even i could do that." The ultimate plan is to add Express Models lighting and Hornby TTS sound (I'm on a budget, remember). I have read some things about the operating voltage of these motors and I know that Hornby chips don't do CV5 to reduce to voltage going to the motor. So, my questions are thus; 1. Can I use a series of diodes between the chip and motor to reduce the voltage it receives? 2. Or will it be ok and I don't need to bother with diodes? Just carry on as normal? Many thanks in advance for your help! Sorry about the essay, but I'm a teacher and I can't do brief!
  14. Looks good! Can I get the download issue as a one off or do I need to subscribe?
  15. I would like to think the success of the 450 (considering the purchase of this!) and 800 would be a good litmus test for further modern EMUs. That said, I'd rather it was a Hornby creation because of price and delivery. Thinking of the 450 for that- I'd say the price has gone up by £100 in the two and a half years from announcement to supposed release. Yes, I know, economy, tooling, production etc.
  16. Same here- as long as they were sub £200 for a 4 car set I'd have some 3 and 4 car sets. Re the DIY version, I could probably do the cabs but I wouldn't be comfortable shortening bodies and chassis.
  17. I've often contemplated the feasibility of crowdfunding OO scale Electrostars....I'll get my coat....
  18. Hello. I've found a French manufacturer/ retailer who produces kits of Eurostar cafe bar and regular coaches. The company ice called apocopa.fr and appears to be a cottage industry. They do a selection of other French rolling stock too. I was just wondering if anyone had had any dealings with them in the past and what they're like generally? Many thanks in advance
  19. I do know that a small number of SNCF owned sets are modified with the ability to run on 1.5kv lines (correct me if I'm wrong) for services to Marseille and the Alps. I suspect these will be the sets that are retained, especially as one of them have already been refurbished.
  20. I'd like to be able to say that there will be some joined up thinking from Hornby regarding this. Maybe next year there will be re-runs of coaches with different running numbers so that people can have multiple/longer rakes. Sadly I fear this might not be forthcoming- I refer to the silver mk4s that were released with the East Coast Flying Scotsman and BBMF class 91s. We (I) live in hope
  21. I think, if those samples are anything to go by, I might have just been persuaded to buy my first Dapol loco- this might get expensive!
  22. I wouldn't even mind doing the conversion myself but you can't get the bits to do it.
  23. Might it be too much to ask for extra intermediate coaches for the current Eurostar (in both liveries)? I.e. Buffet car and articulated passenger coaches
