  1. Wayne Rooney has bought a second hand car. A £1,200 Escort.
  2. I went to Weymouth on a trip hauled by Nunney Castle, which generated a strong loud and noticeable bark when starting up from Temple Meads, Weymouth, Bath and Frome and working hard on Evershot Bank. After listening to some clips on YouTube, my own feeling is that the sound on the Hornby model is too soft, and the bass level ought to be more noticeable.
  3. Drove over to Yatton to photograph 6024 King Edward I racing through Yatton Station. One of the shots is tucked away in one of the Galleries on this site. I think that there was a rail carrier passing through which delighted the guys with video cameras at the other side of the crossing, not. Did anyone manage to see The Duchess on the move yesterday?
  4. Tony, sounds like a good start for Matthew's day and that the rest of the household is enjoying the result.
  5. 6. I walked the Dales way in 1987, it was odd seeing large numbers of moles strung up on a barbed wire fence near Sedburgh.
  7. Wet and dull in deepest Bristol, no balloons from the Balloon Fiesta rising up through the murk. Tomorrow might bring a chance to photograph a Castle Class engine heading out to Bath, Frome and Weymouth or a King running down to Paignton and Kingswear. I hope that the weather picks up.
  8. Have been discharged from the fracture clinic today, my fall in January seems such a long time ago. Sorry to read about the wrong sorts of leg breaks and so on.
  9. Oi you, you looking at my bird...
  10. Had the opportunity to go to Skomer last week. Weather good, but not so much activity, probably because the puffin chicks had still to hatch. One poked its head out of a burrow, but it was too quick for me.
  11. Good to read the news of PhilH's new grandchild. I drove the car for the first time in five months . The fracture in my humerus is mending well, but I will need some physiotherapy.
  12. On Monday, I had the brace removed from my left arm. It appears that my arm break is mended, but it may be six weeks before I can think about driving again.
  13. How similar are the new Hornby 12 wheelers to Pullmans used in Scotland by the LMS?
  14. Like Stewart, I broke my left arm. monday's trip to the hospital resulted in the fitting of a new brace and sling. the brace is a large plastic wrapping c. 1/4 in thick, around my upper arm. there are now some signs of calus - new bone growth, but the healing process is going to take longer than first expected. it might be another 4 months, or more. i was given the option of an operation, but i wasn't too keen. my wife has been great, but there are times i want to do a bit more to help her.
  15. BoD, it isn't one of Jackson Pollocks?
  16. yesterday i went over to Bath, and photographed bittern. Like 45146, i have a broken arm, just want i didn't want for new year. enjoyed the rugby, but can't quite work out how scotland caved in, but having 2 men sin binned was not a great idea.
  17. if use of upper case only is shouting, does that mean that my lower case only posts become whispers?
  18. http://www.motorcyclefunerals.com/ looks as if they have a bike to suit most pockets.

  20. arm is on the mend, but have had to get up, i can't cope with more than 3 hours sitting up to sleep. there was a student radiographer leaning how to operate the equipment, lucky girl will have seen most of the major forms of limb fractures in the course of one day. one poor chap had sustained breaks on both wrists. but the snow has vanished.
  21. dd. had a pair of blackcaps sitting in neighbour's apple tree, last winter a blackcap visited the feeders, hard to photograph, will look for pic flew off on slightest move/sound. several redwings in the vicinity. haven't noticed the return of long tailed ######, four were in the garden just before Christmas.
  22. redwings/field fares seen in nearby trees at the back. the blackcap returned, i think it was around for four months last year. dd thanks no real pain just inconvenience at moment.
  23. am wondering how to sleep sitting upright, left arm is in a brace after a fall on an icy pavement. it will teach me not to look at fgw's bouncing castle passing in the cutting at redland. then again the trip to the fracture clinic could be interesting if the paths remain icy... http://www.michael527.fotopic.net/c1800845.html link to clifton bridge shots.
