My detailing/repainting projects
class27 replied to blueeighties's topic in Modifying & Detailing RTR stock
Hi Lee Great shout on Precision labels Very thorough on getting all the details right and then superfast turnaround See you are still up to your neck !! Enjoy seeing your work cheers Steve -
A surprise announcement then ! Are there any actual pictures of the variants as produced? Was the weathered version a custom one off job? Would like to see pics of the actual production models before taking the plunge Its going to be an expensive Q3 and Q4 of 2018
-
Would it be possible to use vaping pipes they can produce copious amounts of vapour/ smoke/steam. Fairly compact and rechargeable they don't do a sulphur perfumed variety though !! The layout is absolutely stunning I have used your banking scenery method and have had great success with it cheers
-
Quick update As I purchased at a show there was no address details for me A phone call today has got my gangway ends on their way Good work from Ellis Clark
-
Thanks for the info I will Phone Ellis Clark this week and find out what's what
-
TTG did you buy through Ellis Clark or another supplier? I bought my coaches at Model Rail Scotland in Feb, So I may have slipped through the net as a customer cheers
-
Does anyone know if the gangway covers and screw couplings have arrived yet? I have tried to contact Ellis Clark twice by e-mail, but no reply, possibly a problem with their contact forms All information gratefully received

Jinty It is the standard Dapol installation throughout which has been working fine since I got it. I have not used it for a couple of months and lo and behold this just happened . I have went through the sound functions and everything works as it should except that when the shunting lights are switched on the sound fades out and none of the sound functions then work, or lights. if you switch the shunting lights on first then nothing works thereafter, but in all cases the loco can still be driven I have become a convert to Paul Chetters working brakes on some of his projects. I have them on a class 20 and 26 and they are brilliant on my short layout, so may send the factory zimo chip for a reblow cheers
-
Hi Changing subject slightly. One of my 08's (Dapol own sound) has developed an unusual fault, it has been fine, but now when the shunting lights are switched on the sound fades out this can only be rectified by taking the loco off the track and starting again , however sound and shunting lights together is a no. My other 08 has Paul Chetter sound which I prefer, and no problems. Can I reset the chip and see if that clears the fault or send it for a reblow to Paul's sound your thoughts much appreciated I too have had broken buffers and handrails to sort out, annoying yes, but very difficult for a manufacturer to deal with given the rough handling they get in final transit to us customers

Brian's 7mm Diesel Workbench, Belated up-date!
class27 replied to brian daniels's topic in Kitbuilding & Scratchbuilding
Brian I always enjoy seeing your work, and it gives me inspiration and ideas, thanks. If I were to try to create a class 27, which Heljan loco would be the best start point a 26 or a 33 as both have right and wrong details to sort out best wishes -
Thanks Guys for the help I will get it all cleaned up and make up some lenses for it, and I may try to make a new flag part for it rather than repair the original. Hopefully I can use the forming machine at a local car restoration firm Jon I may need to ask for some assistance on signalling for my O gauge micro layout which I think will all be ground signals. I will get my questions properly sorted out first though Best to all
-
Thanks for that, so this dates from the post war period ? Thought it strange it has no markings, most railway items are marked. It should clean up fine, I will have to make a piece for the arm where it has corroded away and try to find some lenses for it. Anyone out there got any ideas about that? Sorry for the hijack Jon.

Here goes I found this in what would have been the old gasworks at Pitlochry. The new southbound starter is on the other side of the line now, but I have an old film of the North line from 1965 which shows the southbound starter on the right side. I think the platforms were extended in the 80's and it looks like the signal was replaced at the same time. Rather than remove it must have been thrown down the bank into bushes where it has lain ever since pics for you
-
Jon I have found an old signal and am trying to figure out how old it may be It comprises the cast iron spectacle part with its pivot pin and a steel flag which has 2 corrugations There are no markings on this (which I thought strange) If I get it cleaned up a bit and get some pictures can you help? Love your work by the way

CME I'm with you on this The actual measurement is very minimal it does seem to be an optical illusion buffer heights are generally good the coach pictured has a slightly drooping buffer I have no idea how good the Loco heights are, but for what it is worth I have checked it with a Dapol 08 and the measurements are more or less the same

Andries Will measure up and report back ASAP
-
Truly outstanding Has anyone ever tried anything on this scale ever? Looks like it will be a 'one of a kind' for a very long time cheers
-
Andries Will you update this thread when the corridor connecting end blanking plates and screw link couplings become available please thanks Steve
-
Probably going to regret this but here are a couple of pics of Daerstead,Heljan and JLTRT to give some idea of the height thing Not very noticeable and full marks for running quality
-
Simon Thanks for your advice, you were not far out at all I tried a 1k resistor and it was much better, so I tried a 1.5k, and I think that is just right, dim enough not to be noticed in daylight and the right amount of light in the dark. The passengers will no longer get a suntan in the coaches!!
-
Hello all I have just bought a couple of these at Model Rail Scotland yesterday and am very pleased with them. I particularly like the way they handle my not very scale track layout and very tight entry/exit curve from the hidden to scenic section of my layout. This involved moving the drag boxes out 1 hole on the 3 position settings which means that the gangway ends disconnect around the tight corner, but reconnect themselves on the rest of the track I do have 1 question though The interior lighting is very bright on my 16v dcc supply what would my options be to dim these down a bit. I await the wisdom

Lee How do you do your 26 doorhandles are they bespoke, or items that can be bought ?? Lovely work on the 37 and the 26's as always
