  1. I don't like the LMS liveried 50017 but I'm sure as an exclusive in a maroon and gold box it will sell like the much derided purple Deltic (but please please please do 55016 in blue in the 3rd run (or even green) don't give it a third purple release) it's not for me but I'm sure the fans will come crawling out if you did it

That’s 3 more of my fleet sold. Just too fragile for my fat sausage fingers and having to keep the sound turned down rather negates the fun of it. Of an original fleet of about 13, I’m down to 3 left. It’s a shame, as they are stunning locos. I did get the sound files updated from Support but even then it still would only work properly with CV63 set at volume 140 or below.

Hopefully subsequent batches will use better glue as I’ve lost kick plates, horn grilles and bogie chains to the carpet monster! With constructive feedback, I’m sure that the next lot will be that step on in quality

    Cheers

I've got 15 with more on order and all are fine so far. Plus I've had bits drop off the Deltics but nothing off the 37s, I've either been extremely lucky or you've been extremely unlucky?

So then…do you have any online indication of your original order …i.e. …was it sound/analogue or any documentary evidence other than a couple of emails asking for the balance with the onus upon you as purchaser to provide the vendor with the original order number or …I quote….”in the last resort”….your name  ?  This is not best practice and is tbh insecure and inexcusable . I simply have no documentation either online or on paper of my order..and now I’m asked to provide such. I paid a deposit and frankly I’d rather let it go to the wind rather than involve myself in what appears to be a haphazard method of conducting a purchase. My name is not a last resort.

Contact them and they will tell you your order number and if it was sound or standard

Apparently ESU have changed the plug size on the commercial release of the speaker for some reason (without mentioning it to us) so is too big for the 56 socket now. You may need to source a different plug to solder in it's place or solder the wires to the speaker pads on the board for the new speaker.

    Just a heads up.

Well that was great timing by ESU and nice of them to let you know 🙄

I’m sorry, I didn’t read all that, the sheer length and opening tone ensured that.  People who think they’ve got a lot to say usually have very little, I find.

Since you openly state you didn't read it all tells me all I need to know about you so I've given you the same curtesy

    Good day

  6. I see resin used by lots of modellers these day but I don't like the effect it has at the edges with creeping up everything and creating unrealistic lips. I think it looks stunning otherwise though. But I still see old school modellers sticking to using paints and gloss medium like say varnish to get just as good if not better results if done right. It's what you are happier with at the end of the day. It's just these days youtube is full of people going the resisin pour method for every drop of water even if it's just a puddle lol

  7. Even though I was unhappy with the service from Rails for my 56's, it won't stop me using them again for future models on preorder. I've used them for years with no problems beforehand. I used to visit the shop on a regular basis because they are after all my local model shop. I stopped going in due to health reasons but they have continued a great service mail order too. I just class this as a blip in the matrix and normal service will resume shortly :)

I was surprised kernow weren't on the list of suppliers though

Just reposting my post from last week as there still seem to be lots of people determined to slow down delivery of these locos by calling/emailing about their order because of some reason that means their situation is “unique”…….

Stop bothering them about locos (24/1s) which aren’t even due for a loooooooong time.

    Yes dad 🙄

As that is obviously aimed at me

If there are models I have reserved not showing on my list, I have the right to find out what is happening, I could sit here patiently like I have been doing and then the next batch arrives so they are busy again and the longer I leave it the more of a chance of missing out because I didn't advise them soon enough. They are actually getting the models out to people now so things are better than when you bothered them yourself during packing.

It doesn't matter that the 24/1s are further away! I ordered them way before the 25 was even announced and seeing them missing is concerning especially as its the 24/1s that are more important to me personally than any of the 25s I have ordered. Better to get it sorted now than wait and it be too late.

I'm due in hospital for an operation to remove cancer and part of my kidney from my only remaining kidney in a matter of days and I'm stressed as hell, and I want to sort stuff out as soon as possible while I'm able because I don't know how long I'll be out of action. And I want it sorted while I'm thinking more straight.

I've been very honest with people why I was refusing to change my card details yet, as my locos weren't in the first batch so there was no rush because they were very busy. Even though they were ringing them themselves I didn't want to bother them myself, but when something comes up that starts to concern me like items missing, I'm going to contact them (by email so they can select a time when to read emails, not like phoning) the last thing I need is to be singled out and chastised for doing so by someone who contacted them himself at their busiest!

BTW I have a friend who contacted them two days ago to change card details  and the very same day his model was posted out, so I'm guessing they are catching up with packing and posting

Just because you feel guilty for contacting them and starting a snowball effect of others contacting them, it doesn't put you in a position to tell others off for contacting them about a different subject

I bought one of those Fell locos marketed by Rails with 4 pairs of wheels none floating. trouble is if your track isn't absolutely flat as someone said it pivots and worst still it has the effect that all the pickups don't work. On the Fell with its dodgy pickups an even bigger issue. So I can see why it is a good idea to have the centre wheel floating especially on a diesel where the wheels are much closer together.

Rails were a seller of the Fell (awful model) but they didn't market it, that was KR Models

I am reluctant to make contact as they are busy, however.

Yeah I've been reluctant to bother them for ages too and I was determined to just let them get on with packing, I've been telling people that I won't ring to update my card details yet, so when I found you could do it online I jumped at the chance, but when I saw the main two locos missing I panicked a little and broke my own ruling

Just been chatting to Jennie and the 24/1's are a while off yet apparently , I'm waiting for 4 of them so not a bad thing as far as I'm concerned as I need to get the money together , between model railways/carp fishing and property renovation this year is working out expensive already , dreading the Heljan 26s coming along as well!

I'm just going on one of the locos on E100s list is a highland 24 so I'm worried why mine aren't on my list unless it's because I ordered them over the phone not the website. But I still thought they'd be on the list

It's Class 11s at the moment, Class 12s later.

Yes we know that! I've got two 11s paid for. The point the person who first asked the question is that when the 11 and 12 were announced they gave us a list of models for both classes. But now the blue class 12 have vanished from the class 12 release list and the original poster of the question was asking where it had gone

  13. With my delivery of Cavalex class 56 from ultimate model railways today, the paperwork with the receipt was a short list of coming soon items from ultimate and one was "the upcoming class 60 (including our upcoming exclusive edition)" has that been mentioned in this thread before? If so I'll just go and curl up in the corner :)

  14. I'm only really interested in BR blue and large logo but with possibilities upto and no further than triple grey sector livery... So can someone please explain why I just bought a Colas one and keep eyeing up the Load Haul one?

Did you get to go to British Railways Training and Adventure Centre, Faverdale Hall, Darlington whilst on YTS? I went march 87...17 Years old.... 15 traffic trainees and 15 clerical trainees what could go wrong? Abseiling.....potholing .....canoeing (in march😱) ...problem solving team building whilst hung over only to do it the next night again!

Need to bring Simmilar to YTS for railway back...

I remember getting dragged to some place they did orienteering and other outdoor stuff but I don't remember where it was because I was too ill and I was in bed semi conscious the entire time lol I remember we went to watch an episode of 3-2-1 in Leeds and we were took to a brewery in Tadcaster... Guess which we enjoyed most 😉

  16. I got my 56008 and 56093 from Rails today. I'm  just waiting for 56120 from Colletts, thus giving me a Romanian, Doncaster, and Crewe example :) although apparently i still need a series 2 model! I'm also waiting for 56023 from ultimate railways which i ordered yesterday and is due tomorrow because i like coal sector models (but oddly not other sectors)

I went for 56093 because i was working at Tinsley on a YTS scheme while it was going through its F exam and being painted like that, and i was allowed to paint a very tiny bit of it, and Alex from Cavalex contacted me about using my photos as reference (along with no doubt dozens of other peoples) so i have fond memories of the loco

    56093 in Tinsley TMD - 02 56093 in Tinsley TMD - 01

Excellent models, congratulations Cavalex it's up there with Accurascale and only just below SLW (my personal opinion,  other opinions may differ 😉 ) We are being spoilt by these newer companies giving the old stalwarts a kick up the proverbial. Excellent detail, great booklet.

I just dont like the packing cradle. Im really not a fan of ice cube packaging but I'm sorry i honestly dislike a model screwed to a tray requiring you to dig out a screwdriver to just look at all of the model. At least with SLW it doubles as a neat display case if you so wish and doesn't cover the fronts. One bonus is that it looks much more impressive when you take the lid off the box than any ice cube packaging ever can... i still don't like it though :)

I have more than enough 56s now and don't need anymore, what with a mix of Mainline and Hornby versions (im not getting rid of those) but if in the next batch, 56078 was announced in BR Blue with grey roof and Tinsley embellishments it would be an immediate preorder.

Consideration would be given to 56036 in large logo and 56135 in Railfreight Grey as released from Crewe works. But I'd be more than happy with just 56078 TBH

Oh! If 56042 was done with class 58 bogies, I'd probably get that too lol but thats a special tooling too far i guess... unless a 58 is in the pipeline? 😄
