How about a weathered offering….with the western region attention to cleanliness…. as demonstrated on many of the interesting photos on this thread.

Accurascale have said many times that they won't do weathering and like to leave it to the modellers

Factory weathering is often derided and if they did a loco weathered you'd get masses of other modellers complaining that they'd have bought it if it wasn't weathered, so best if they offer them unweathered and leave it to the individual

I would have thought in the initial stages of delivery then spares would be held back for warranty work, but as time passes and the need to retain the spares diminishes then selling them to anyone who wants (or needs) them is an income against the cost of generating those spares in the first place.

Edit: i.e. a buffer is only likely to be a warranty claim upon first delivery, if it comes away after use by the owner because they've dropped it, that's not under warranty though I think Accurascale have been known to go above and beyond on customer service.

I'm hoping that they become available as I have two class 37s sat waiting for round buffers :)

I think there’s a potential good trade in spare roofs, windscreens, buffers and other detail parts so you can make something different and unique from a given model. I’ve already swapped the roof on my Accurascale 37066 so I can count the correct number of rivets on those cold winter nights to come. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to get parts like that direct from the manufacturer.

I recently enquired via support if round buffers would be available as spares once the green batch of 37s were released. Unfortunately I was told that they don’t sell spares and they will only be available as warranty claims :(

I think this is a real shame and a missed opportunity

  4. Out of all the Rapido announcements only two really interested me, the 04 and the Leyland National (the first bus by them that I felt I could use that wasn't Birmingham centric) and both get cancelled... Sorry "indefinitely on hold" (I remember that happening to the prototype HST)

Oh well, more money to spend elsewhere I suppose

Unlike most of the Eastfield 37s, 022 and 033 retained round buffers even after they had the buffer beam cut away, so if you're renumbering the 027 model you may also want to change the buffers.

Oh I'm quite prepared for that :) much easier changing buffers on an Accurascale model rather than trying to add a headlight to a Bachmann model :)

081 had RSH cantrail grilles , only ones really that can be done are 022 (I have transfers en route to do this one) , if you remove the stripe 036 and 037 (321) are doable , there's also 033 but to me that appears to have the headlight nearer to the centre line of the doors

My two extras are going to be 022 & 033. I decided that the chances of them altering the headlight such a small amount was unlikely and 033 with small number has always been a favorite so I can cope :) I did have two Bachmann models and transfers for these two locos but I've decided that the Accurascale model is superior

I reckon the whole “3 shipments” thing is a ploy.  Come on, own up, how many of you did what I did, i.e. bought one of the first shipment when you weren’t planning to, purely because you couldn’t wait till the second shipment to get one in your hands?!

    Yep, they got me!

I don't like DRS livery and I hate wipac lights... So why I chose 37423 out of the 3 is still a mystery to me 🤔

What I want to know is how far north did 45104 go when it had it's NSE flash and when did it have that embellishment?

I took photos of it in May 1987 without the flash and in July 1987 with it, so that narrows it down a bit. My photos are at Sheffield but I know it ran as far as York and Newcastle back then

Also, any chance of reproducing the nameplates it actually ran with in 1963, as well... Detail, detail, detail 😄

Here she is in all her 1963 glory, courtesy of the C37LG facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=162520529732403&set=a.162520499732406

Great choice of subject, and hats off to you.

As mentioned in the description "As an extra special treat and recognising this loco's historic position as the first of the class to be named, we're including etched 'First East Anglian Regiment' nameplates that it carried for several months in mid-1963 before being removed. The plates will not be printed on the locomotive but are provided as optional accessories."

  10. Not that it's worth anything to anyone on here, but my feelings of a class 40 by KR Models are simple. If it had been announced by Accurascale I'd have Pre-ordered one or three on day one. If a retooled one was announced by Bachmann I'd have took the weekend to think about it but would more than likely Pre-ordered one. But like so many others it seems, I'll just wait and see, and if it's good wait for a second batch.

I preordered the GT3 and although it wasn't perfect it kept me interested enough in KR Models and I preordered the Fell loco... Biggest mistake of my model collecting life! I've never been so disappointed in a model purchase that I decided there and then that I wouldn't preorder any new models by KR, even if it meant missing out on something good. I would just await the results and see if there was a second batch if it was any good.

Unfortunately the Fell loco has made me extremely wary and made me lose confidence in the companies ability to communicate and listen to the buyers. (Consett aside)

My experience with class 40 enthusiasts is that they are extremely knowledgeable about minor differences in class members and they were the most helpful people to help me identify the numbers of a lot of my unknown 40 photos. And because of that I know they'll be watching very closely and will pick up on even the smallest of errors, and I'm just not convinced that KR are the company to listen and change! They seem more bothered in rushing a model out without listening to the buyer.

So it is with a heavy heart that I find myself holding back and refusing to show my interest in a model loco because of lack of confidence.

I'm by no means a perfectionist when it comes down to fine detail, and I can forgive a lot, but I need confidence that it will be close to the prototype without silly flaws and without looking like a cheap plastic rushed toy from packaging to model.

My money stays in my pocket unless they can prove my fears wrong (which at the end of the day I honestly hope they can)

when did we have 709? I only remember that as a Lima release

Whoops well spotted GordonC I looked at my notes and saw I'd put down 8, 10, 11 & 12 but for some reason known only to my brain I typed 8 to 12! I'll go and alter it. Thanks. 😳

  12. Yep we've had 708, 710 in scotrail 711 in large logo, 712 twice! In scotrail and 706 in scotrail but debranded and NWSE marked for kernow

And as tiddles47 says blue 47701 but in farish N gauge
