It was good to see that Sidmouth’s running had been massively improved over previous public outings.

That was certainly the case in the Republic of Ireland when CIE went over to CWR. They had to reduce the speed limit on its 4w container wagons for just that reason, which hastened the introduction of bogie container wagons.

That’s actually my experience after I contacted Warner’s to find out what was occurring.Regarding the DVD, I filled out the 'competition' using the link provided on this thread last week and today I received a very nice e-mail from a lady at BRM providing me with the video link and a note to say my DVD was on its way.

Has anyone else managed to get their copy of the Little Bytham 1938 DVD from BRM yet? The lack of hearing anything is worrying, or is it just me?

Since when has it been hydrogen sulfide? Surely it’s hydrogen sulphide because of its connection to sulphur.

There’s been much hype over the upcoming Little Bytham 1938 DVD to be in the November BRM. Imagine my surprise, then, when I
purchased my copy from my local shop and found no DVD. Apparently, this was the issue when BRM decided not to include the DVD but that you would have to go on their website to get one sent. Sounds easy but you have to open an account, or in my case re-activate an account that I had forgotten about, and then take part in a competition in order to get your copy sent. Let’s hope something arrives in the post. This has done nothing to endear me to BRM.

Hi
In 1959 some 40 Maunsell carriages were converted into 20 push-and-pull sets. This involved 20 dia 2403 BCK and 20 dia 2005/2007 SO, and this has been produced by Hornby in the 2403/2005 form. Two questions,
1) Has anyone attempted to backdate the BCK to as built condition, and
2) Does Hornby have any plans to produce this version?
I know the first page shows what can be done with Bill Bedford overlays.
Many thanks.

I’d be interested to see the alterations you have made to Peco pointwork. Have you posted your work anywhere?

Platform 2 at Cheltenham Racecourse does get used, but only when requires such as the recent Cotswold Steam Fair.

I always understood that the plural of gin and tonic was gins and tonic - such is the English language. Where would we be without it?

I’m glad 28xx set the record straight re the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway, part of the old GWR’s mainline from Birmingham to the south west.

Didn’t King Haakon have a spell on the Great Central in the early days of preservation?

Just back from the Cheltenham show and I have to say what a stunning model. Andrew has taken N/2FS to a another level and I can’t wait to see it again.

The alternative would be to attach the coupling to the body of the wagon, as in real life, but it probably works better your waybon the relatively tight curves that most of us have to use on our model railways.

One of my modelling friends can be very dismissive of layouts - there was nothing running, it wasn’t entertaining so move on. In that respect the late Holiday Haunts was a joy to watch, so too Stoke Summit. However, very few portray the shunting aspect of railway operation as it should be. Most operators don’t have much idea how it was really done and that spoils the effect.

Many congratulations.

Just out of interest, why did you use 10.5mm dia wheels rather 12mm dia referred to by Cambrian?

One could say ‘fings ain’t what they used to be’.

Yes, the Irish class 071 and 201 and the British class 59 and 66 all have this in common.

Have you tried googling Kiveton Park and then selecting images to see what comes up?

I have no experience of either of these cars, mine was a Porsche Boxster. Oh what a wonderful drive. My great bugbear is those who think it’s a Porsch. The ‘e’ is not silent. They’re in the same mould as those who think it’s prostrate cancer. Here the ‘r’ is silent.
Sorry for the rant.

We live in times when people seem to delight in taking offence, the matter in question not necessarily affecting them directly. Personally, I quite enjoy reading slightly provocative prose that makes you think. Mr Rice is in the same mould. Keep it up.
