  1. Hi Colin, I live in Birch Vale, right on the Sett Valley Trail, opposite the island in the reservoir, so know the area well. Have you seen Ken Rangleys video of the railway from 1968..? Very nostalgic and sad. Edit: just saw you were involved in the remake of the video based on Ken’s original..lol I’ve got a good track plan and loads of old photos of the line and stations (both Hayfield and Birch Vale). I’m just trying to figure out if I can get it all on 2 or 3 4ft long base boards..! Will post any progress I make. cheers simon
  2. I appreciate that this is an old topic, but as I’m hoping to recreate a Hayfield station layout I was hoping I might get a head start by finding out if anyone has a Templot model I could take advantage of…? It would also be great to see what progress was made with this layout. kind regards simon
  3. I'm trying to get hold of a copy of the Foxline book, so hopefully that will help my quest for more detail about the line. Ken (who made the video) ran the local newsagent and was very involved in the local rail scene. cheers simon
  4. The local theory about the closure is that Beeching stated that the Hadfield line (near Glossop) should be closed and a spelling mistake meant that Hayfield was closed instead. Not sure I believe that myself..;-) cheers simon
  5. Hi, I live in Birch Vale, backing onto the Sett Valley Trail...the route of the original Hayfield to New Mills line. I'm hoping to model the line and specifically Hayfield station. Does anyone have a track layout of the Hayfield station..? I'm collecting photos of the line, so if anyone has any they would be happy to share, please let me know. Any information gratefully received. kind regards Simon
