  1. Excellent a good day then. Clare would share Sharon concerns about lots of visitors - she looks after us very well on our neddy nights. IKB looks great too, that would fit in well with the 70s scenes well. Must stop getting Railfreight liveries - but they look so great on 56 / 37 / 47 dont they?

  2. Thankyou Jamie for your kind comments.

Firstly, I'm sorry if you're still waiting (as I am) for the layout to appear in Model Rail. The piece just seems to get postponed, I hope I will get some news about it appearing later in the year.

I've still been busy though! The I Pad we had for Christmas is a cumbersome camera, but the lens being at the bottom of the device does allow for some eye - level shots.

  3. Two Christmas "Speedlink" arrivals imminent. Todays tripper consisted of 2 x Bachmann Traffic services polybulks from Tinsley -Sheffield. These have been intercepted in to the UTCT pool (under the Christmas tree). The Portishead arrivals are due as well. No doubt coming south on the Bristol West Depot tripper.

I hope your Polar Express on the Eve will bring yo all some railway related prezzies!

  4. Hi Rick - thanks for the interest. The article is definitely in issue 191, there's a preview picture in 190. This should be around Christmas time in the UK. My mate Yogi gets his on line - that may be sooner.

I was surprized to see your festoon failed. I would have thought LEDs would be pretty bullet proof. I dont usually have mine lit, unless I have visitors. I hope you have more luck with the replacement batch mate.

I must admit, I havent been on the layout much during 2014, been so busy with other stuff. I am looking forward to the Traffic Services Polybulks due in soon. I'm also planning a Bachmann 101 DMU for my birthday in January.

  5. That's a lovely scratchbuild. I would place it near the road junction. I dont think it would be near the works, but it's your layout mate - put it where you like. The plateau of land his lots of possibilities, if you bear with me I'll take some general pictures around Rocks at Goonbarrow. The buidings are very interesting, plus all the pipes, flues and generator rooms. Not to mention Knightwing portacabins which would look fab weathered with claydust.

  6. The final major building has been started! This is the 1960's style office block to go with the warehouse. The building is typical of that era using precast panels for much of the walls and a flat roof.

The windows are laser cut wood from Proses, available from OnTrack. They are OO scale domestic windows but work as N office windows.

The main walls use a clear plastic sheet as a base, with the windows and cladding panels glued on. The windows were painted before gluing. With hindsight, I should have painted the brick piers as well before gluing. Each side took about an hour to do. Part completed and complete sides shown below.
