  12. Correct, my reference only gives info on the droplight reveals as by that time new construction was flush glazed. However... Fig 220 in Russell's Coaches Vol 2 (p.127) shows a close-up of the pseudo-panelled livery as applied to a B-set. There is a clear colour difference between the black 'mouldings' and the (mahogany colour?) 'bolections' around the recessed quarterlights - so presumably the quarterlight reveals would also have been 'mahogany'. Logically that practice ought to extend into subsequent livery schemes as it makes little sense to me to switch to two colours when only one was used prior. I'm **not** saying that from 1927-1934 the reveals were **not* painted black, merely enquiring as to your source. Pete S.

  15. Very few I'd have thought as it sounds like a bucketload of work for small reward - on the real thing the band is barely an inch wide. I'd be interested in knowing your source for saying it's black. I have a copy of drawing 101837 dated July 1934 which states that droplights & the edges of their openings are to be painted 'Mahogany' colour, but nothing that pre-dates this. AFAIK this practice continued until the end of the GW. Pete S., C&W Dept., GWS Didcot.
