  1. I think I would very much like to have an early 1950's 6 wheel Camping coach model in a siding. Re Modelling one - As I am only a RTR modeller, thus may I ask please what would be the best Hornby 6 wheeler to get that would be the easiest to get repainted into BR (S) early 1950's green - the all 1st class looks the best one---- Do I choose a BR crimson one (grey roof) or an Olive green (white roof) - I would think, as I need a grey roof that the Crimson ones would work easier for a repaint ? thanks in advance for any comments Rog.
  2. Re Hornby doing an OO RTR CIWL Type F Night Ferry Sleepers - is there anymore hint that they, or someone else will commission these iconic coaches and the luggage vans to go with them? We have had a field day with Southern modelling prototypes in the past 10 years, so the Night Ferry would be I think, a welcome addition which can be used for modelling during the periods both pre and post war right up to the blue grey period. We have the loco's and all if not most of the accompanying British coaches (RB RFO Buffets, BCK etc.) Would be great....
  3. seems to be yes - I got lucky on a cancelled pre-order from TMC models

  7. hi there resurrecting an old thread on pre nationalisation designs of sleeping cars that made it to BR blue grey days trying to find any evidence & photos of GW designed hawksworth sleeping cars in blue grey - can anyone help, please i know that LMS and LNER designs of sleeping cars made it to the late 60 and 70's in blue grey but although there are here anecdotal statements that GW designs did too I cannot find a photo cheers
  8. can you help please was the 8001 8-VAB repainted into all blue-grey? it ran until 1974 attached is a pic with what maybe 8001 in blue grey behind the 33 I only saw it in blue with the TRB in B/G thanks
  9. ok ta very much... just found this, As a step towards the removal of steam from the Waterloo - Bournemouth services, D6580 was modified for remote operation with a modified rake of electric multiple unit stock and tested between Wimbledon Park & Basingstoke commencing July 21st 1965. The following month the newly delivered 4-TC stock was available for high speed testing on the Bournemouth line. The addition of the three jumpers on each side of the cabfront of D6580 and the selection of a small rectangular yellow warning panel did not improve the aesthetics of the cab front. D6580 would later be modified to have its push-pull equipment conform to the other 18 locomotives.
  10. ah ok thanks, so my d6580 should be half decent then
