  1. Easily see why you have misunderstood Dave's post. In simple terms he's pointed out that Hornby have now broken the trend of usually sticking to steam locos and coaching stock for a majority of the time. Even the diesels are few and far between. I don't think you have to take that post in such a literal manner mate. I'm sure Dave knows what the Class 71 is. Dave has simply pointed this out and requested those who are interested to suggest a Class 91 to Hornby for a re-tool. Yes you are entirely right about the Class 71's routes and what not, but at the end of a day it's an electric locomotive and so is the Class 91 (this is what Dave is highlighting here).
  2. Well now I really cannot wait for it! Very excited about this model. Since you do the scanning...please pester them to do an AC electric mate I'm sure Dave (DaveClass47) will agree to it too.
  3. I'll surely contact Hornby from time to time. My personal interest is a Class 86. Honestly I hate the Heljan attempt. I wish Hornby could do one. I think Bachmann would have achieved more sales if the did the Class 86 also rather than the Class 85. That being said Hornby, Dapol, DJM etc. also have an opportunity to do these models.
  4. Indeed, I was very much surprised when I saw the Class 71 listed on the Hornby website a week ago. I'm glad they are venturing out into new electrics. Certainly a Class 91 is needed. There is many more also - Class 86, Class 87, Class 92. Bachmann have taken up the Class 90 (I often hoped they did that first rather than the Class 85).
  5. GWR Hall looks exactly like that.. http://2e7fd430838d304f1516-467f5d9f2ca7b7b12f8a116e60ea9c1d.r77.cf3.rackcdn.com/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/u/n/untitled-1_3_8.jpg
  6. Indeed, but the pantograph could still be used by others with a modified base.
  7. What a pity mate, everything I view is £20-£30 cheaper....
  8. I keep seeing a price of £124.99. Must be due to the fact that I am overseas. Still can't wait to get my hands on one.
  9. £24 more? http://www.Hornby.com/uk-en/locomotives/diesel-electric-locomotives/class-71.html Hornby has a MRP of £124.99. Is the DJM one £100? I've always seen the DJM Class 71 listed at £125.00 unless only the guys who funded it got it for £100.
  10. Thanks Ben, those CAD's look fabulous. Will the pantograph be available as a spare?
  11. Just out of interest for some.... Pretty nice project me thinks.....Still want Hornby to re-tool the Class 91 nevertheless.

    Ask Dave

Pity about the Class 59. But hey, I'm surely up for a J94! Really excited about a J94 with so much detail.
  13. Must be late to the party. Links worked all week.
  14. Would love to see those Royal Class 47's after they are done!
  15. Nice idea, I've voted for a retool. Sadly the price is going to jump high. The Class 91 will cost £140+, the DVT will be £50+ and each coach will probably be £30+. TBH I don't mind paying the prices I predicted for the Class 91 and DVT. If it costs £200-£215 for a Class 91 + DVT train pack I'd gladly pay for that. Coaches will be a tad bit expensive. I wouldn't mind if the Mk4 coaches were designed as part of the RailRoad range i.e. along the lines of the new Mk1's and Mk2E's. I'd gladly buy a full rake. Even if the existing coaches are upgraded with fixed valances, NEM couplings and glazing I'd be more than happy.
  16. Yes that's what the image shows. And that's the livery currently on the Class 71 at the NRM which the Hornby model is being based on.
  17. The Class 71's have been listed on the Hornby website for little under a week now. BR Class 71 "E5001" in BR Green - NRM - R3373 http://www.Hornby.com/uk-en/br-class-71-e5001-nrm-br-green.html BR Class 71 "71012" in BR Blue - R3374 http://www.Hornby.com/uk-en/br-class-71-71012-br-blue.html The Hornby Class 71 will have the following features:- - 5-pole skew wound motor - Double fly-wheel - Dual bogie drive - Accurate running light modes - Cab lighting - Changeable headcodes - Removable front valance - Sprung buffers - Working pantograph
