  1. Thank you all for your helpful replies. I tried Alcanman's suggestion to reduce the CV 63 sound setting from 192, and at a setting of 60 the engine now runs smoothly with the sound on. The volume is still quite acceptable.
  2. Good afternoon Steve, Thank you for your helpful reply. I had omitted to mention that my engine was the Hornby sound fitted model, probably the same model that you purchased. I did return it to Hornby with an explanation of the problem, but they just sent it back saying there was nothing wrong with the decoder. Very unhelpful, they couldn't have run it or they would have recognised the issue. I shall watch the Chadwick model railway episode as you suggest. Once again thank you for your prompt reply. Regards Allan
  3. I have a Hornby 08 diesel shunter fitted with a Loksound V4 decoder. The engine runs perfectly well without the sound on, but stutters and runs very erratically the moment function F1 is pressed. At rest the locomotive startup sound is exactly as it should be and other functions work normally. I have checked the CV values which are the default values specified by the manufacturer, and have also performed a CV8 reset, without success. The issue is not one of dirty track or wheels as the locomotive runs perfectly well without sound. Has anyone had a similar issue with a Loksound V4 decoder and found a remedy?
