  1. I think this shaking hands thing is a complete and utter waste of time... Quite honestly it means nothing if they are told that they have to shake hands... Shaking hands should be a spontaneous thing done out of mutual respect and not lowered to the standards the FA have reduced it to where its just seen as something that must be done before a match and clearly means nothing at all to those taking part... If anything all this sorry episode does is show that its a total sham...
  2. Anyone know why Match of the Day is not on Catchup?
  3. That makes sense, so who's right?!
  4. Yeh, ok... Just look at your history, and its not just us City fans who point it out either... Lets face it they're scared stiff of Fergie, I'm waiting to see how long before he really starts the mind games on Mancini, he's been too nice so far!! Oggy, we'll have to agree to differ, I've always backed the ref on the basis its normally swings and roundabouts, but I do feel in this case there was a huge element of doubt, even the neutrals can't agree and that's unusual... But the point I was making is that the technology is gradually creeping out beyond sport into everyday life and I have severe doubts about that... Especially as digital video footage can be rigged too easily these days... It has its good uses, but i tend to feel that it should only be in the hands of the professionals such as the Police, or if it is used from other sources they are tamper proof which mobile phone footage certainly isn't!
  5. That was my take on it as well... Trouble is he's got form... and he doesn't play for united so he's had it! I still have severe doubts about all this retrospective judging by the press and fans... It's not just in football either, if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time you could get done... as witness by that scotrail guy...
  6. Plenty of other players do it... If they do him then so be it, but I'd be wanting others done for their misdemeanors as well... I do wonder if we're going too far, especially as far as defenders are concerned... If i was a defender at the moment I'd be wondering whether to even bother trying to make a tackle... If the ref doesn't get you then the tv pundits and armchair fans will try...
  7. You should try searching for bits for a Princess Car!!
  8. What the two of you have said is what's always been the case since wages were deregulated decades ago... The only thing that has changed is that the rich clubs (note, I didn't say "big") have suddenly come across a new problem, the "big" club which has always had the support but not the money now getting the money (currently Man City, though they aren't the first by a long shot), and they are desperately changing the rules so that they can prevent them getting into their little group at the top... Rather pathetic, really...
  9. I have two that haven't left their box yet... There for future projects and bought because they were priced "right"...
  10. Re the discard of players... To be fair every manager prefers to build his own team and they were bought by previous managers so I suppose that's inevitable at City and can also be seen at every other club that's had a change of manager... Just the figures are a little different... I share your concern, but after being "in the shadow" of a much richer club for decades i have every intention of enjoying myself now we have a few quid as well... One thing is that the matches they've played have certainly been entertaining, and not just for the goals but the skills shown by the players, some lovely football... Hopefully that will continue even when the others have figured out how to play us, and i hope that doesn't involve some desperate "hacking down" like it used to in the old days when playing against more skillful opponents...
  11. The sport element went when players could get paid whatever they wanted... 60s wasn't it? From then onwards only the richest clubs could compete year after year... The money they get paid now is obscene...
  12. That equally applies to City, United, Chelsea and several other teams in the Premiership... City are just the latest "addition" to that particular "club", but no United or London Blues fan can complain when they've been splashing it around for years to keep them at the top and now we are doing the same... But of course they don't see it that way, as we're encroaching on their own little "fiefdom" and they don't like it! Shame....
  13. One of our neighbours, a Mr Ferguson, called us "noisy"... We certainly will be tonight!
  14. Ah, Bertsdorf... Pity i didn't spot the lamp post! You did of course try the pub over the road where your beer and food is delivered to your seat by G scale narrow gauge engine and stock? Or the pub down the road from Zittau station, opposite the loco depot full of old memorabilia? (Took me two visits to find the second, mind!)
  15. The wording of his "statement" by his lawyer/rep says it all... The key words are at the end: "Going forward I am ready to play when required and to fulfil my obligations." Obviously Mancini was not asking him to do this but to play more of a holding role to prevent more goals against City, hence his refusal and the so-called "misunderstanding"... Get real, Teves, your obligations are to play to the instructions of your manager, whether that's going forward or defending... We should sack him and save the £30m wages bill. Over paid prima donas...
  16. Try the Honest John site, he does reviews on new and secondhand and are usually on the mark... You could also try Googling for a Kia forum!
  17. We crossed the border into Poland this year... Germany charging Euro 1.38/1.42 east of Berlin and Poland Euro 1.18! Needless to say the place was full of Germans filling up their tanks... and jerry cans!
  18. Yep, there are definitely less than there used to be, though its the same across Belgium and Germany... 24 hour unattended ones are common over there but I've not seen any over here...
  19. Thanks for the congrats, same to you! I agree that the mob in red near the sea are getting just a little carried away now they've got Kenny in charge... It'll take more than that... Next year i think we may give you a run for your money now that we've "tasted blood", so to speak!
