  1. Handyman looks like a bit of a dead duck right now... There are still updates on the eastwell heritage group's Facebook pace, but it is likely Lord Granby will become an exhibition piece for now...
  2. Not the only one, the GVT had to use cab-forward thanks to the nasty Board of Trade.
  3. My Grandfather owned Poppylott farm, nearby to the sidings of the same name. Sadly he passed away last year from natural causes, but whilst he was still alive he was still able to remember (although he had dementia) when he used to load produce into the open wagons at the sidings. Being chairman of the local water board, he was given the IRS book about it.
  4. Have you Heard of Lord Granby? www.lordgranbyrail.org.uk
  5. Very nice 'history', was it a light railway?
  6. Was there an 'extension' to West Bay? "Transfers came mainly from the HMRS Pressfix sheet, LSWR Coach Insignia, while the company initials were from the Mabex lettering range. BHTC by the way, is the "Bridport Harbour Tramway Company", my latest attempt at further mangling the railway history of this part of Dorset." Bridport Harbour is another name for West Bay...
  7. Will there ever be an 'extension' to Beaminster?
  8. --The Crich tramway museum was built on the site of a former mineral railway (built by George Stephenson & the Clay Cross Company*), the preservationists decided to restore the 'line' to a passenger TRAMWAY- instead of a RAILWAY because it was called a "TRAMWAY". I guess they thought it was "common sense gone MAD". Ironic. What was worse about this was the mineral railway (or 'TRAMWAY') was allegedly THE WORLD'S FIRST METRE GAUGE RAILWAY!!! People often confuse the disused 'pleasure' narrow gauge railway with the original tramway/railway. *The Clay Cross Company was George Stephenson's iron empire, named after the tunnel (near the town) where he found masses of coal seams. Stephenson sourced, coal from Clay Cross mines and lime from Crich.

Stay on the One Show Chris! I didn't like Clarkson much either though. Stay on the One Show Chris! I didn't like Clarkson much either though.
  10. they're welsh (although they were made in England). sorry Ed.
  11. I once went to Charmouth on holiday, I am currently modelling another 0-16.5 scale layout on a place called Lower Eype, which is actually nearby. Did you know that a standard gauge railway was proposed to go through Charmouth from Lyme Regis to Bridport? A purely inspirational layout, I hope to see it in the future!

    A Tin Turtle is Born

Tin turtles/ Armoured Simplexs (sorry!) are great locos especially for a WW1 layout or any other 1918- layout. I've seen your layout in the magazine. Great! I hope to see more in the future.
