  1. Hi Paul - I can well understand your disappointment and frustration, especially as layouts of the size of yours can have a complexity, and therefore interest level, not possible within the confines of the rules as they currently stand. I did make a suggestion that MRJ might consider developing a set of rules that would accomodate people like yourself - and many others in the same situation - and perhaps run a new competion at sometime in the future - but don't mention again it to the guys in the other thread, as I think it would be fair to say that my idea was met with something less than unbridled enthusiasm!!! .... Anyway, as others have said, I hope you continue with your project as it has some unique and interesting features.
  2. Many thanks for your comprehensive reply to my post and by way of my final contribution to this thread (no cheering at the back there!) I should perhaps make just one point. My original comment regarding "distance" was promted by the curious difference in the title of your thread posted on the 'other place' on the 20 April 2017, 'Welcome to the MRJ Cameo Competition' - and the similar titled thread that you posted on here, just one day later on the 21st, with the reference to the 'MRJ' deleted. - Perhaps that was the source of the confusion over the MRJ involvement.
  3. With respect Jerry, I think you may be missing something here - welcome to the world of obscure publishing ethics. If you were to look beyond the great world of the RMWeb you might just come across a tiny fringe forum known as 'Western Thunder' where you would see that 'Not Jeremy' - aka 'Simon' - is a moderator. That priviledged position has allowed him to negotiate a whole section where he is promoting his competition as the MRJ Cameo Competition http://www.westernthunder.co.uk/index.php?threads/welcome-to-the-mrj-cameo-competition.5996/ Presumably he is unable to do that on this forum as the MRJ could be seen as a rival publication to the BRM Magazine. So he has tried to distance himself on here - somewhat unsuccessfully - from the MRJ.
  4. Well it's been quite an entertaining thread so far but, really guys, isn't it time to call time on this whole sorry fiasco? I suppose the original idea for a competition had some merit, but the fact that it was obviously a cynical attempt at promoting the MRJ magazine and Rices book meant that it couldn't really be taken seriously and the subsequent confusion over the rules and what is allowed - and what isn't - has led to the current state of afairs where neither those people who embarked on an entry under the original rules - or the people who are entering under the revised rules can ever be happy with the outcome - whatever it is? So come on MRJ - time to pull the plug on this attempt - have a rethink - and maybe try again next year - with a decent set of easily understood rules from the outset.
  5. Despite having the 'remember m'e box ticked - it wouldn't - and when I attempted to log in it said it didn't recognise my 'username'. I also got an insecure password warning and no 's' in 'https' I re-entered everything and all is good now ....
