  1. Hi , thanks for getting back to me , no worries hopefully find something suitable or may just leave them off all together.
  2. great looking layout , daft question , where did you get the switch stands from ? many thanks James
  3. Thanks for that James , Sounds perfect , I've been adding craftsmann conversion kits to lima locos etc and wanted them to have full detail work at both ends .
  4. lovely class 47s , they have become a favourite of mine these past few years , sorry if this is a daft question James , but how do you attach the wire hoops you make ? many thanks James
  5. and the other end , plus my bargain proto sw9 from eBay for the pricey sum of 24.99 !
  6. HI Guys sorry for the delay , ive changed the layout ever so slightly getting rid of the coal trestle and replacing it with a larger siding . the plan is pretty simple really its 10ft x 7 something ish . please excuse the awful pictures , and the very rough wip backscene , but they should give an idea of the track plan ,
  7. Hi Guys well it's been a few months and we'll to be honest the bug has well and truly got me , now at over 60 plus freight cars and half a dozen locos I don't think I will be turning back .. Here are some pictures of my layout I started on Monday, obviously still alot todo , including finish the backscene and paint all the plaster etc .
  8. Hi Guys , well all i can say is yes its very addictive . I am beyond impressed with the quality and performance of the models that its very much a decision of me that I now feel like selling up my OO stock and concentrating on the HO. my simple couple of cars has already increased and an atlas rs11 in BN is heading my way . here was my last adventure with some US n scale .
  9. Yes I found that out when I brought it , although that has now made me want to model the entire class ..
  10. That's absolutely perfect for what I've got and had in mind . Now thanks for all the great help so far and yes even just running a few cars around with the sw9 it's much better , oh dear this is a slippery slope , I must admit I am actually thinking now about converting my existing layout as i think I could easily get away with changing a few things as currently I've 2 houses under construction on it and that's it for buildings..
  11. Well here i am again a new start in something else , although this is a first for me . a quick back ground note , ive dabbled in lots over the past few years and as my sight gets worse i am becoming increasing frustrated with stock etc , ive always had a fancy in north american railroads .I did build a couple of layouts in N but now that's a closed route . so i thought id give HO a try thus begins my adventure . so i am armed with a couple of proto 2000 locos , a Canadian pacific gp30 and a Burlington northern sw9 (though this is going to become a private switcher) 2 walthers 59ft grain cars and 3 atlas covered hoppers in Canadian pacific and national respectably. so my idea is a small ish grain/ industrial branch somewhere in Canada towards the us border 1980 onwards , I've roughly a u-shaped baseboard about 10 x 7,6" , and well i think i need all the help i can get. i will try to upload some track plan scribbles tonight , but thanks for reading .
  12. I had seen that these are now in stock at a few places , they brought them in through the backdoor , now we can see why ....
  13. Hi Guys , a quick update as ive done a little bit to the layout , ive decided to only have the one shed on as it was looking a little clogged , but ive also added a bridge to try and break the scenes up a little to try and give a feeling of length . all still a work in progress and well we may have changed era and location...
  14. Hello all , thought id share a quick image or two of my new TMD layout that i am building using odds and ends that i have . its code 100 and DC. its the standard 8x2 but will have a 2/3 foot removable fiddle yard added at the sheds to enable my fleet of units etc to run . mid to late 90s upto 2015 so 20 years of scope , set somewhere in Scotland. all a mix of lima , limby or Bachmann . obviously its all a work in progress at the moment and still some things too add. any thoughts or ideas welcomed .
