  1. Hi Tony , Even better , I find that for obvious reasons they are the harder images to track down of post war stock . most exhilarating . Kind regards James
  2. Oh that's Excellent Tony ,thank you for letting me know. especially the war time images , a purchase is definitely happening . Many thanks James
  3. I would be very intrigued in the celebration of the A4s , especially if its got some Lner era images inside .
  4. lovely too see the north wales RR rake ,
  5. A nearly finished b3 rounds the bend into the shed , having just been released from a stopping service from the GC , however the line is now closed for engineering works , I think some catenary is going up ? Or down …..
  6. yes as i was typing that out it hit me that it was nearly a decade ago .
  7. ah excellent , i used to have the small German layout that did the show at Crewe in 2012 i think ?
  8. So "I've done a thing" to quote Clarkson , well it was only going to be a small extension to make swapping locos easier , but.... here is a rough track plan , again play value is key ,
  9. The 009 on the front would look very good indeed. i may have my wires crossed but is it Jack from MRL all those years ago ? apologise if its not .
  10. SO why have i changed my mind , well one of a few reasons mainly I've got all the stock i will need , secondly i was struggling to find a way of replicating the overhead lines and thirdly i was finding it slightly dull to play with operate . where as the steam era gives me more coaches in the same space and the station pilot duties and locos running to the stabling point etc , I've grabbed a very quick two pictures to show some of the stock that will call this layout home and will tonight spend an hour putting all the modern stock away ,
  11. Thanks Benjamin , hopefull the 3 car sets at least give a flavour . well tbh i am deep into red and white stripe territory or on the border . however the flag is period correct as its from 2003! James.
  12. All change Now into a 1990s era scotrail layout ! Hello and welcome to the beginings of Marston road a small terminus somewhere in in the late 30's /40's The layout is code 100 peco track with DC control , its currently a 10 x 8 feet L shape but will become a U shape in due time , lots of secondary services with tanks locos and larger locos from both the LNER and Lms, the backscene will be factory and warehouse units with two road bridges splitting the layout up , yes the trains will be short , perhaps too short at only a maximum of 5 coaches but i hope to capture at least a period that i always find the most interesting. i have some in progress pictures , but its very very early days yet so i hope they are ok . the pictures show what the layout was going to be in its early 00s disguise but that's since changed . any feedback is most welcome .
  13. Lets forget about all the distribution sector that continued to work ,who did you think loaded the wagons etc, the drivers hahahah , funny i don't remember my big thanks either ? but that class 40 does look rather good indeed , how do you find the railtec transfers on locos etc?
  14. oh yes that collar lasted about a month or two then when it went missing was replaced and that lasted a day ! so since then shes not had one but , she only goes into the field behind us to become the silent death ,,, 7 in a day is her record ! otherwise shes a self assigned house cat or at least never leaves the garden most days .
  15. So that was Luci now for Rommel , he’s a little more camera shy now as he mostly spends his days in the fields then comes home at night . Although he has help build the garden railway !
  16. Yes she has a habit of sleeping or being on model railways , she one of those cats that’s interested in everything and must sit in or on it !
  17. May i presnet , Rommel and luci ! one is now a very large Tom cat and the other is still tiny and thinks shes a human .
  18. id not seen this layout before looks amazing , really enjoyed the video , and nice to see DC power running the AC!
  19. Ok so I’ve had another idea and I am just not feeling the layout at this stage , I’ve worked out I can buy all new wood for the baseboards and reuse all of the track work plus an extra point and hopefully end up with something like this , which can be called craiglang . Which will hopefully tick all the boxes I have for the layout .
  20. but one big question i am asking myself is theme , i'd like to give my self a challenge and to try an replicate a preserved line but accurately so with actual stock that's preserved as i cant stand layouts with the completely wrong stock on . or id like to do something set in the early 70s perhaps with a view towards London , as an excuse to run some red pannier tanks with some spoil wagons ? but please any help would be very welcomed
  21. its a small branch terminus , so they don't cross a mainline but the use the loop and the sidings are at either end of the station .
  22. Hi guys , I've got a smallish layout and id like to run my Hornby Ruston's on the factory sidings but this would mean they run on BR metals ,circa 1970s-80s would they need to have anything on them to say they could run or was it all red tape and paperwork ?
  23. unfortunately Craiglang to Finport is on hold until for the foreseeable future as id rather like to make this a decent layout with large points and bigger stations etc . although i am still planning on working on the figures. ok so with that said and done the layout will still be built but as a somewhere to run anything from late 60 diesels to heavens preserved steam , its currently playing a early 80s location somewhere in the north west between Manchester and Chester . I've kept the track plan but i have modified it to increase the play value as per a suggestion from my dad . this has meant adding a point and extending a siding and relocating the platform , I really need to clean up the over spray where the hillside used to be .
  24. maybe i will put him hiding behind some bins .. or was it a fox ?
