  1. A friend has just acquired a part-built kit from the stash of the late John Day. It is a gauge 0 LNER/BR L1 2-6-4T loco, kit no. WW302, but contains no instructions. Originally bought from Home of 0 Gauge in Raynes Park (I remember it well!), the contact details for the maker, The Wagon & Carriage Works, is given as Station Road, Sawbridgeworth, Herts. A company of the same name is based in Lincolnshire but we've yet to contact them to see if they are at all related and can help: from their online shop, it seems doubtful. Does anyone have a copy of the instructions that they'd be prepared to scan or photocopy?
  2. ... and further to the above, Lynx Models of Heckington seem to have taken over the range (website updated in Jan 2020).
  3. Many thanks Stephen and Tim: now resolved. The supplier was Blackberry Way, of Handsworth Wood, Birmingham. I've no idea if it's still trading, but I've now got enough for the job in hand.
  4. Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask, but I'm after some LSWR pattern canopy posts/pillars (see image of one at Farnborough, Hants). I bought a small batch many years ago but can't remember anything other than they were sold loose (they came in a paper bag!) Does anyone know of a supplier? TIA, David H
  5. Very good of her to do the embankments ;-) David
  6. For the record, not me ... though I'm intrigued if there is someone else out there 'rebuilding Chelfham in O14'. I acquired Brian Taylor/Shoreham MRC's Chelfham just ahead of Warley 2012's L&B World, and when last I exhibited it in Burton 2-3 years ago I'd almost finished re-gauging. Needless to say, I've still only almost finished! I have an L&B Models Lyn, bought from David Nicholson many years ago, which is still in its 'flatpack' state but I did get as far as talking to David about it at Bristol Trade Show a couple of years ago, when he mentioned that he'd made available a few replacement parts/addenda to the instructions that no-one has asked for since so few seem to have been built. Do please let me know if you get back in touch with this other O14 Chelfham's owner: I'd like to view the competition (or have an excuse to throw in the towel!) David H
  7. Snapped the body off in the end - judicious use of solvent at the four pillars will fix it once a false floor has been fitted with cattle in place. If I can work out how to reduce image size I'll post some images of the fixing points for future reference. David H
  8. Suits the period well: I'm basically doing a shunting puzzle with the theme a farm move. I do have an old unmade Airfix kit too but in my naive fashion thought bashing a RTR version would be quicker. Oh how we laughed ...
  9. Many thanks - I'll have a gingerly try with a blade and report back. As to the bars, yes I noticed as I looked through Geoff Kent's volumes on the 4mm Wagon that most cattle wagons had at least one if not more bars to stop the critters escaping. David H
  10. Can anyone give me a clue as to how to remove the body from Dapol's cattle wagon? I'd like to put some cattle in it, and though they'll just about fit through the top gaps that makes it awkward to arrange and fix them in place. There are no obvious screws or clips, so I guess it's a case of knowing where to apply a small blade to prise the top from the chassis. TIA David H
