Layout and scenery looking good, the flats are great
Mind out for the flat residence moaning about the train noises and smelly diesel fumes !
We used to get phoned up nearly every night from an old biddy from local flats complaining about the Yard at Northampton !

Have a great weekend George
Be careful with John, remember he gets silly if he has to much chocolate, you know what he is like, find him sitting under the layout with chocolate all around his mush !
Don't give him any orange smarties !!

John was in issue 217, centre page pin up, they used a class 37 to preserve his modesty, very tasteful I thought
George turned them down
John used to get me copies from his "Europe" trips, Smiffs in Northampton stopped selling it, have every issue

Hello
Or whose bum to bite but we're working on it.
John likes talcum powder, one of his many needs when out on tour, does that count ?
RC
Cheers

Northampton CMD had piles of concrete sleepers 5 or 6 wide, up to 8 high divided with sleeper batterns. Concrete sleepers turned upside down were used a roadways between the Sidings. Stacks of old and new wooden sleepers and point timbers. Skips, cable drums, concrete troughing, old oil drums, grounded van bodies, stacks of new rail, point work and block joints, piles of scrap rail, chairs, etc.
Railway vans and trucks, few private cars
Will check my photos for more ideas

Project Mercury was a Telecoms company, they used the railway cable troughing system and lineside to lay their cables.
Wagons were painted a sky blue livery.
Carried mostly cable troughing

I have built a small wagon repair depot based on the one in Northampton Yard in the 1980,s
Wooden sleeper work surface, grounded van bodies, mish mash of huts and sheds, wagon bits and wheels everywhere etc
It was featured in Rail Express last year,
Journey down memory lane for me as I visited the yard taking photos, it's all gone now.
Have also built a small 4ft shunting layout, again based on Northampton memories, a small fan of Sidings used by the Signal Engineet for loading materials,
Very much enjoy both layouts, enjoyed the research and building
