  1. Hattons OO Gauge YOB Plasser 12t GPC

    post-28458-0-44262700-1542618074_thumb.jpg

The Plasser 12t General Purpose Crane (GPC) is a piece of On Track Plant machinery built from the mid-1970s and used countrywide as a very useful tool in relaying sites. Up until the mid 2000s they were regularly seen in consists travelling to and from worksites and there are still a small number being used with Balfour Beatty on the national network.  Such is the usefulness and versatility of the design, several have been ‘preserved’ and are used maintaining heritage railways across the country. Often used in pairs for lifting track panels etc. we will be releasing matched pairs of some liveries to enable this to be shown in trains.

We are producing a total of ten versions in liveries spanning the career of these perennially useful machines with variations in the tooling to accommodate the different jib supports (or lack thereof) on specific machines.

  2. Hattons N Gauge LMS Beyer-Garratt 2-6-0 0-6-2

    post-28458-0-91379900-1542621851_thumb.jpg

The Beyer Garratts were designed to haul coal trains from the Midland coalfields to London to stop the use of double-heading and save on fuel, crews and maintenance.
The locos quickly gained popularity due to their strange design of articulation and were widely known about. Very early in the careers of the locos they had their fixed bunkers replaced with rocking ones to help bring coal towards the cab while on the move. They lived out their lives on the coal trains they were designed for and were only withdrawn with the introduction of the Standard 9Fs. Unfortunately none survived the cutters torch and the preservation movement lost an important part of the British Railway scene.

In 2014, Hattons released in OO what has since been classed by Hornby Magazine as the best steam model they had seen.  To enter into the N gauge market we have decided to replicate this unique design in N gauge. For the N gauge model we will only be producing the rocking bunker version.

  3. I put the order in at about 1am monday morning. Asked for special delivery next day before 1pm. Reason being im in for heart surgery on Thursday so only days I can accept delivery is today or tomorrow. normally id just pick the standard £4 option and it comes when it comes.

Website says order before 2pm for same day despatch. Wasn't sent yesterday so went on the chat thing this morning an was assured it would be sent today.

Roll on 5pm and no despatch note so I went on chat again and waited a good half hour with no response despite message being read.

    Good morning meatloaf,

I'm incredibly sorry about the delay on your order.

I am aware it was particularly busy on the Helpdesk after 5pm yesterday which may be why your chat wasn't responded to before we closed.

It will have transferred itself to an email which I'll have a look for now and investigate this further for you.

Once again I apologise about this but I'll see what's happening and someone will be in touch with you this morning.

Best wishes for tomorrow as well. I hope you have a speedy recovery.

    Cheers,

    Dave

  4. Presently there are just too many silly mistakes where the era refers to the original build date of a model, but ignores the livery applied.

    Hi Paul,

We're currently doing a lot of behind the scenes working getting our listings ready for our new website, www.hattonshobbies.com , which has full searchable listings by locomotive and rolling stock subtype, liveries and eras. At this stage in development a number of eras are showing on the system incorrectly on both sites however we're working on these as a priority and should be fixed shortly.

We're always appreciative of any further info for our listings so thanks for your emails so far and if there's any more items you see please let me know.

    Cheers,

  5. That was efficient work by Hattons and Yodel ! In contrast I placed an order at 1300 on Wednesday but no sign of it yet.

    Morning caradoc,

Apologies for the delay on your order.

We're calling back hundreds of items from our secondary warehouse every day and we're working to get these despatched as soon as we possibly can.

If you'd like me to look in to your order then please feel free to email in and I'll see where this is up to.

    Cheers,

    Dave

  6. Afternoon all,

We've put together a short video which shows off some of the testing process which we've undertaken on our O Gauge LNER Class A3 project which you can see below.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCb6SzRiuBM&feature=youtu.be

We've been very happy with the performance from this sample both on our test track and at high speed with a full rake of brass coaches.

All versions of the A3 are still available to pre-order for £750 each on THIS page of our website.

    Cheers,

    Dave

    Afternoon all.

Very well spotted! I've fixed this now so you can purchase that item from either the current or the new site, whichever you prefer. Link below:

    I hope this helps.

  8. Just my thoughts, hope it helps somebody!

    Rich

    Evening Rich,

Thank you so much for providing such great feedback on the new website. It really is helpful and very much appreciated.

This has been fed over to the IT manager and he's working on a bit of a "to do list" as a result and will be discussing it with the MD.

If you think of anything else in the meantime then please feel free to post it here or email it in directly to info@hattons.co.uk

Thanks again, have a good evening.

    Cheers,

    Dave

  9. Er... Despite doing nothing, I've now had confirmation emails that both (identical) orders actually went through. Which is unfortunate... (I had checked at the time before attempting to place the 2nd order, and the items were not listed in the pre-orders section of my account. So at least two parts of the system claimed I hadn't ordered anything.).

Ah well: looks like I'm getting even more than I bargained for!

    Paul

How peculiar. Sorry for the inconvenience caused by this Paul.

I believe one of my colleagues has located your order(s) and has tried to contact you but I think you may have been on the line to the Helpdesk already.

In any case, the duplicate has been cancelled and refunded.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

    Cheers,

    Dave

  10. Don't worry - I've just tried twice to buy a couple of sale items, only to receive at the end of the process the message that their sales system is too busy to process the order, so try again later - the items having in the meantime been deleted from the basket, necessitating starting the whole tiresome process all over again (complete with searches full of useless (to me) 2nd hand items, N gauge items, etc).

    Paul

Sorry about this Paul. Would you be able to provide any more information regarding this error so I can pass it over to the IT team?

A screenshot may be useful as well.

In the meantime it may be best to either give us a call (0151 733 3655) or if you let us know your phone number by email (info@hattons.co.uk) or Livechat then we can call you back so you don't miss out on anything.

    Cheers,

    Dave

  12. I’m considering having another attempt at buying one, just to get a 58 on Cwm Prysor (and continue with 5810 from the airfix body).

Genuinely unsure what to do. Both my previous versions ran appalling on dcc

    Hi Tom,

The following CV changes will assist with the operation of the 14xx's coreless motor on DCC.

    • CV5 to 255
    • CV6 to128
    • CV49 to17
    • CV51 to 0
    • CV52 to 0
    • CV53 to 140
    • CV54 to 40
    • CV55 to 28
    • CV56 to 255
    • CV124 to 4

These are set by us as standard as part of our DCC fitting services on these models but can also be changed on most Digital controllers.

    Cheers

    Dave

  13. Hi Dave,

Thanks for the quick response and clarifying, thus assume if there was 3 or more magazines within the order it would have still been £4 max postage charge as this would have covered the weight up to 1.8kg.

Apologies, was just having a blonde moment thinking each mag no matter how many ordered would still keep adding £2 postage for each one to the total bill....lol got to stop ordering stuff after 9pm and really need to  :rtfm:

    Cheers

    Steve

    Hi Steve,

Yes, you've got it right - any additional publications (or indeed adding other items to the order) would still result in a £4 postage charge.

    Cheers,

    Dave

  14. One thing I don't like with Hatton's is the practice of accumulative postage costs on magazines.

I ordered 2 magazines and both had a postage cost of £2 each which was added to total bill thus ended up being £4 postage, surely 2 magazines would have still been £2 postage or am I missing something here?

I have ordered many model rail items from Hatton's and with multiple items in the same package I was always charged £4 postage but not £4 for each item but this appears to be different with mags or books.

    Hi Classy52,

Magazines and similar publications (catalogues etc) qualify for our non-tracked £2 postage if ordered individually despite them being over the usual weight threshold. Orders containing multiple publications are dispatched on our standard tracked £4 service.

I hope this clarifies things for you but let me know if I can help any further.

    Cheers,

    Dave

  15. Hi all,

Further to the above, if any retailers that are interested would like to visit in person and have a look at how we operate, we're more than happy to accommodate this.

Please feel free to get in touch via phone (0151 733 3655) or email and we can arrange a date and time.

    Cheers

    Dave

  17. My very recent experience with Hattons over faulty examples of this model have led me to vow never to deal with this premises again. I won't go into detail but a very unsatisfactory experience.

    Rob.

    Hi Rob,

I'm really sorry to hear this as its definitely not the result we strive for both how we deal with our customers and our model development. I'm keen to hear more about this to see why this situation has arose and respect that you'd rather not go into detail on this forum. If you wish I'd be more than happy to discuss this with you either via email addressed to me or give me a call on our main number so I can do what I can here for you.

    Cheers,

    Dave

  18. Hi all,

Alongside the RHTT vehicles, we have also received all of the colour samples of our forthcoming FEA wagons.  The wagons incorporate a wealth of fine detail and printing, including the variations for the track panel wagons and standard vehicles used for container traffic.

Alongside the RHTT, it has taken slightly longer than usual to create the samples which has meant production has slipped back slightly.  We now expect the wagons to be delivered in early February and we will update everyone with an exact date when we have it.

We are very happy with how these look and would love to know what you think as well.

For those attending the Great Electric Train Show in Milton Keynes this weekend we will have these samples on display alongside updates on our other projects.

  19. Hi all,

Right in time for RHTT season, we have received all of the colour samples of our forthcoming RHTT wagons.  The wagons display an awesome amount of detail, some of it so small you need a magnifying glass to read it!  The RHTT water modules feature over 50 individual prints each and the other modules have even more.

With all of this detail and printing it has taken slightly longer than usual to create the samples which has meant production has slipped back slightly.  We now expect the wagons to be delivered in early February next year and we will update everyone with an exact date when we have it.

Clean samples of the weathered models have been provided for us to create weathering masters to be used in the production of weathered models and we will showcase these when available.

We are very happy with how these look and would love to know what you think as well.

For those attending the Great Electric Train Show in Milton Keynes this weekend we will have these samples on display alongside updates on our other projects.

  20. Now waiting seven full days for an order to be dispatched.

Three emails inquiring about the order have been met with the stock platitudes "we're sorry, will be sent soon" etc etc. Very insincere patter with no information or suggestion that they are actually following it up.

Buying from then for 30 yrs, 28 of which have been excellent, reliable and consistent service. The last two years has steadily nosedived to this point.

what would Norman Hatton make of this?

    Hi John,

I'm incredibly sorry to hear of the issue you experienced with this particular order.

I have spoken to the Helpdesk manager who has looked into this and assures me that steps have been taken to ensure that delays like this do not happen again without you being informed of what is happening.

I can see that you have placed an order recently and this has been despatched. If you have any further issues then please do not hesitate to get back in touch and I will look into it for you.

    Cheers,

    Dave

  21. Shouldn't  these have the larger ICI letters, I have ordered the early ones with plate bogies but these also seem to have

the small letters, I see after all the complaints Hattons have deleted there earlier posts showing the original

      weathered examples.

    Hi Paul,

I’m not aware of deleting any previous posts, if they’ve gone astray then I’ll speak to Andy Y to see if there are any issues.

However, if we’re thinking about the same images then I’ve just looked back and I believe they’re in Post #297 on Page 12 of this thread. I hope this helps.

In regards to the overall weathered effect on the production models, I appreciate there are some differences between the original weathering masters that were shown last year.

The models shown in the above post were all samples that had been hand finished by Mercig Studios to achieve a weathering master which was sent to the factory.  While we make every effort to replicate it, this is not always possible due to limitations in the mass production process.

Regarding ICI006CW and ICI006DW, we intend to pick up the conversation with Oxford in regards to outstanding and future versions but for the time being the released versions will be the only ones available.

    Cheers,

    Dave
