here is my old flieschmann br218 was a dcc 6pin flieschmann chip but always wanted a sound version of this loco so installed a lenz silver + with susi connection and added a doehler & haass s10a sound module loaded the sounds onto the module myself with my programmer so here is the link to the video on my channel

You need to connect the z21 to a pc or laptop run the z21 maintenance tool connect to z21 and update z21 first then once connected a lot of other tabs will appear at the top of the screen click decoder update drag sound file to the window and click update it will take from 5 to 10 mins and a blue progress bar will appear when finished it's done

Have you tried turning off dc running on the chip this has been a noted occurrence on other loco chips due to a confusion in current the loco thinks it is on dc due to a signal loss from dc so runs of like a headless chicken on 16v
