Got my 66789 today and to be honest a bit underwhelmed- one nameplate at an odd angle which has been removed and reglued and an axlebox which has now been reglued twice. Notice the loco has a slight wobble which I wonder has been caused when the axlebox covers were pushed on has pushed the wheel set slightly out of Gauge. Will have time to evaluate properly at the weekend and at that point will decide whether to return for refund or not. At the moment though not buying another.

    Bit gutted to be honest

    cheers

I have to agree with some of the comments above, I too received my 66789 and has a few niggles loose axlebox covers and a few other glue marks on the bogies, nothing that can't be fixed or covered with a little weathering. But overall the level of detail is quite stunning and as the sound fitted version is sold out I'm reluctant to return as I will not get a replacement. Overall I would give it a solid 8 out 10.

Hi all, we’ve also had some queries regarding the livery of H4-66-017, 66621 in Freightliner green which I’ve answered below.

Is the paint on the front bufferbeam of 66621 correct?

No. The lower bufferbeam/air dam area on 66621 should be black until just below the top of the buffer shanks. The yellow paint extends too far down, towards the bottom of the buffer shanks. This style is present on other members of the class such as 66610.

Are the headlight surrounds on 66621 correct?

No. The headlight surrounds on 66621 during the time we are portraying it (circa 2011) were bare metal on the right hand side of the cab and black on the left hand side. This has been overlooked during our research.

What other Freightliner 66s (black below buffer shanks) are available?

    66957 “Stephenson Locomotive Society 1909 - 2009” (H4-66-018) (features LED Wipac lighting)

What are you doing for customers with these models?

Any customer who has one of these models and would like to return it for either a refund or exchange is more than welcome to do so. Contact our Helpdesk Team (0151 733 3655 or info@hattons.co.uk) and they will talk you through how to do this.

I hope that helps answer any queries but please let me know if I can help answer any further questions.

    Cheers

    Dave

Thanks to Dave for making things a little clearer on the mentioned issues.

I have a question for Dave would it be able to fix the wiring issues for any further batchs of the class 66 in the future.

  3. Don't know whether this has been said before, but this statement is now on the dj models website. It reads as follows :

When i posted my release yesterday, little did i realise the reaction it would cause. So may i just clarify some bits here, which some seem to have missed entirely?

My IP’s cover the external look of all my designs, not the internals, and do no prevent anyone making the same model. It does, however, as far as i understand it, prevent cloning and using my design cues.

It will also make any fellow designer think about how they will design their model to not only be better (that cant be bad can it?) but to look better (and that cannot be bad either right?)

Also as most of you know, i have not got use of my tools and there have been various mails on the internet by trolls saying that they can supply models from my tools. This protects DJM by making sure that although my tools can be sold on (after all i don’t have them in my possession in the UK) the new ‘owner’ wont be able to do anything with them, and neither will the factory they now reside in. Now this means they wont be able to make models from my tools to sell to UK shops, any of my models.

Surely none of this is bad? If you purchased a house, would you protect your investment? (yes a bit trite i know, but a fair analogy) That’s all i’m doing.

In the words of Corporal Jones ‘Dont Panic, Dont Panic’. I am not, and i hope this helps clarify things for everyone.

Please try to see this as a good thing for myself and the industry as a whole, and the opportunities it will now present.

    Best to all.

    cheers

    Dave

May be a saving grace if you are crowdfunding

This announcement had come before the request for second deposit

Yes that is probably true. I for one will no longer be willing to part with any more of my hard earned money in any of dj models crowd funding ventures. I have written of the £90 for the three class 92 I had on order. I will put my money Accurascales way instead, as at least there model will make it to market this century.

  5. I received the 2 BR Livery Terriers today and both have arrived damaged. One had one its buffers completely detached from the locomotive, and the other had the tall route disc holder bent and the other missing in action. See pictures attached. Sorry for the quality a quick snap with my phone. A little bit disappointed with the quality control to say the least.

  6. I have decided to pay my £50 deposit for the GT3, as I think the fact that KR have joined the forum is a good sign and gave me a little more confidence. So I look forward to the project progressing in the coming months.
