  1. No definatly not you it was to HMRSpaul apologies...
  2. At least some representation of the doors from the inside side view (errrrr....just like the real thing, or have you not noticed this before?).
  3. Yes I was surprised by lack of any internal detail considering this is included in the plank open wagons with are much finer. The sides also bow inwards so not as well made as plank wagons which is a shame.
  4. Sounds good, I won't be pursing myself but it could be useful to others who are seeking something similar.
  5. But you haven't explained what the (about) 8 components are and what the circuit diagram is, so it's not workable for anyone with out these. I assume you would be able to provide this using your electronics knowledge to help those that are not as experienced as you appear to be?
  6. Suggest you contact to DCC Supplies as I believe they are Dapol sole agent for fitting sound units in UK. Tower Models latest news talked about Black sound fitted version should be avaible in next few weeks (based on the way this was put it might be a longer wait than expected!). I guess that priority is to get as many lower cost units sold covering all the promised versions first, then focus on sound fitted version where sales volume is probably lower. Might be easier to get non fitted sound verion then fit your own decoder and speaker saving time and cira £50 (Zimo Prodrive from Paul on this thread is far superior than Dapol verion).
  7. Oh no wonder mine does not work now you have updated your instructions and I have now invalidated my warranty.... ...only joking think I will leave well alone as it runs well with a Zimo fitted and no mods required apart from adding a piece of insulation tape between PCB and decoder.
  8. Lifting eyes on roof are extremly well represented on the Hornby 00 version. I asked Richard Webster from Dapol if they were going to be added to Dapol version when I saw and preproduction example at Bristol O gauge show a couple of years ago and his short reply was "No".
  9. ..... Replace the front ladders as all the rungs now drop out if they are touched in any way, add two more dial gauges to cab control desk as they should have been six (complete with transfers), add lifting eyes to roof that are missing, add front and rear guard irons to chassis. Convert chassis to Scaleseven and at same time reduce the thickness of the oversize brass bearings, remove the moulding flash from body that prevents one of the doors from shutting.....
  10. Good shout, hope you get on OK?
  11. For info DC supplies special edition verion includes wipers, but many 08"s were never fitted with them anyway so the current versions on sale are still OK without.
  12. I think this is a cracking model and can't complain but I think the side ladders (for those that have this version ) maybe become the 'Achilles heel'. Real shame this as I have spent best part of an hour and a half 'playing pickup sticks' with the rungs which most decided to almost all 'fall out' when I noticed one was misaligned and tried to correct. It was just like watching a dried out Christmas Tree which shed all its pine needles onto the carpet when you knock them. I also lost (but did manage to find with a magnet after much searching) the tiny pin that holds the ladder uprights to the protruding roof bracket. This was not a pin but a bit of wire with no pin head just short piece pushed through the two oversize holes (oversize compared to the wire diameter). I assume the only thing that prevented the the wire and rungs falling out was the paint but this is just coming away from the metal if you handle it in any way as surface does not appear to be primed. I think that it was only the interference from the original paint that held it all together in the first place. I have not been able to put back in its box as any movement of the ladder will cause the rungs to pop out again, Super Glue is out of the question so I think I will try gluing with watered down PVA glue as this should seep into holes enough to hold rungs and at same time be thin enough to not notice when it dries clear and won't damage the finish of the rungs/ladder parts. Again not knocking a good product its just shame this part is so fragile as it looks so good and is an amazing addition... Has any one else had a similar experience and if so did you find a method to secure in a more effective way?
  13. Yes agreed about good value even at 225
  14. I believe £199 was original Dapol selling forecast. £169 was a huge discount to get maximum interest and and was honoured by the "major box shifters", however some shops were not able to get this Dapol discount that major "box shifters" had negotiated earlier (circa 5 years ago when it was first announced) so these are having to sell at £199. I was told by my local model shop that £199 is also a discounted price from Dapol and is expected to rise to £225 very soon. Now we are all hooked on how good the model is I expect prices will rise even further (now thats me being cynical... lets wait and see). China costs are also rising and dipole are increasing cost inline with this and this has also been announced by them
  15. Private message him using this web site
  16. Good choice of chips!!!!
  17. Now I have mastered Templot (an it did take a while to understand how it works!) I have to say there is nothing in my opinion to beat it. Have used to create my new layout and it now saved so much time and effort to the point I now realise I could not do without it. It has taught me some much at same time. Huge pat on the back for Martyn!!!
  18. Great loco only problem so far is that the black paint is starting to come off the wheel rims as paint is on on unprimed metal (it's fine on spokes).
  19. For info had a look at Dapol sound listing and I decieded to go down independent sound supplier route as it was much cheaper (circa £70 cheaper than Dapol sound fitted version) and Dapol list did appear to be lacking some important sounds compared to other independent supplier offerings. Still be good though whatever sound version chosen.
  20. Paul's Chetter's version fitted to my mine highly recommended as it has more sounds and some extra sounds you can swap about!!!
  21. What about black marker pen or chemical black solution just carefully done would need to be oil free for any covering to adhere so may need to re oil.
  22. I squeezed hood at cab end as there are no handrails in way. Pulled hood upwards at a bit of an angle then other clips at middle and front of hood unclipped themslves. Not easy and should get better after a few attempts. Warning I accidentally gripped the side of ladder when trying to remove hood and rungs popped out.
  23. For those that haven't discovered it yet and are running DC only there is a cab light On/Off slider switch on top of the PCB board under the hood. I called Dapol about switch as its not mentioned in the instructions (?). They said they did not know what it was for (?) and pointed me in direction of DCC Supplies (DCCS were were a bit suprised about this but confirmed it was for switching cab light in DC mode).
