  1. I have been told DCC Supplies are fitting Sound Decoders for Dapol products so suggest calling them (waste of time using the Dapol Digest as they only appear to answer questions when they feel like it.... or not!).
  2. In my search for a suitable decoder, a decoder supplier said they believed loco design had been deliberately made difficult to fit a 21 pin decoder of your choice that works everything on board such as lighting, etc, this forcing you down a preferred supplier route (you have to guess at this but, but it's not difficult to work out who they said). However they said they are actively working to overcome this situation so choice is starting to widen. Suggest looking back at some of recent posts on this thread to find out what's on offer and what you can and cannot fit and who can provide it.
  3. Spoke to a supplier/shop today about next batch of green and he thought prices would rise to cira £225 for shops not offering a discount.
  4. Interesting to note that there are 'no Buffering Up sounds' on Dapol sound version which is a shame if true. I would have expected this basic sound to be included considering the engine main use is shunting with plenty of buffer clattering in real life (?).
  5. Your a lucky man....my wife was not as thoughtful in her comments to me (muttered something about what she would have done with the money I appear to have squandered).
  6. For info ...DCC Supplies do not have in stock yet and are expected towards end of November. If you go to their website it says they are in stock but this is just so you can put a deposit down, but they are not physically in stock yet. Cheers
  7. As far as I'm aware these are only available via DCC Supplies and are the standard green bonnet and wasp stripes (and typical colouring for most of green class 08's) and not the green with black bonnet version with wasp stripes that everyone else will be getting (which is a not so typical and an unusual choice of colour scheme... see previous posts on this thread). DCC Supplies are not discounting these.
  8. You got me.... I'm in the wrong place
  9. For me it's called collecting and I won't be stiring anything.
  10. Well I hope you don't get a barrage of abuse from those (not me as I'm on your side) that think it's OK if it turns out wrong, as they will be quiet happy to correct themselves using a paint brush as "it's only a toy" was one of the comments I received when I commented on similar paint errors. For me also.... I do hope it comes corrected and wish those waiting eagerly to get their old paintbrushes out will find some satisfaction and don't end up spoiling their toy.
  11. Hopefully even sooner..... Tower said they should recive them in approximate 2 weeks time. This full quote from Tower.... "Latest news today on the Class 08's is that the first three versions (Pre Tops blue, Post Tops blue and BR Black) have now been completed in China and should be shipped later next week. Hopefully this will mean we should recive them in approximate 2 weeks time subject to clearing customs etc".
  12. Class 08 slipped again now November and into December according Tower Models update. Think I may have to take of my Xmas wish list ..... AGAIN!!!!!!! Still can't complain... i'm sure it will be worth the wait and looking forward to seeing all the other goodies Dapol have announced recently (just hope I will be able to own one some day in the near future).
  13. I'm a parent and it's not good value at either £25 for nonworking version or all singing and dancing version at £50. For me this would have to be a main present at that price what a disappointment that would be for my little chap. Think I will spend £20 extra to get a Lego high speed train set, much better value and much more fun. Looks a little fragile and probably aimed at those with deeper pockets than me.
  14. At £50 I doubt if the younger generation will be able to afford this expensive toy
  15. Postman Pat theme tune in the background would be good.
  16. Do hope they make one for 7mm scale as it would go well with the 0 gauge signals that Dapol promised a long time ago.
  17. Great effort and a modeller with a great passion for moving things forward in the hobby. Fully support you in all you say!!!
  18. Calm down ...it's only a toy train
  19. For information..... You will find the following infomation from Andy who works for Dapol in the digest for the Class 08 which was posted today on their site. It confirms Dapol will not be producing a Wasp Striped and Green Bonnet version until sometime in the future. But DCC Supplies have commissioned Dapol to produce this version for themselves and it will be available in the next batch expected in November (and will be in the same shipping container as the Dapol Wasp/Green/Black Roof/Black Bonnet version as far as I'm led to believe). This special commission is not discounted. Andy from Dapol wrote.... The model is per the prototype (Andy refers to photo which can be seen on the Dapol digest at this point) i.e. Green Body, Yellow/Black wasp striped radiator area, with black cab roof and black hood upper. You mention that you are seeking an early crest version, do you note that version (7D-008-003) is BR LATE crest ? so it may not be what you require after all? If you are looking for EARLY crest version, then 7D-008-001 maybe more to your needs. The artwork is on this page, but for ease, it is all over green, NO wasp stripes with Black cab roof (another common variant). For an EARLY crest WITH wasp stripes, try DCC Supplies. They have commissioned an Early Crest Green/wasp stripes with black cab roof - Due in the second container, so (at the time of writing) around 2 weeks after the 1st delivery. Further information is here: http://www.dccsupplies.com/item-p-11...sp-stripes.htm We will be producing many other liveries for a long time yet, so your 100% green will undoubtedly be produced in due course. End of Andy's quote.
  20. Understand but it's worth trying to get it right for the majority and the minority. If you say nothing and give in then you get what is on offer, if you speak up it just might make a difference that satisfies even more us, more likely to lead to increased customer confidence in the product and more sales.
  21. Yes agreed, however I expect the first time you will see a production model will be when you have opened the box after purchase. I assume you will be allowed to return it if not happy and I'm sure many won't but for those that are not happy then I expect they will have to return at there own cost. Think I will wait and see even if it means I don't get one later due to demand. I'm collector not a modeller and it has to be right in my eyes I was expecting to purchase more than one because of how impressed I was when I saw it at Bristol in its raw state. Also in response to comment directed at me by '40-something' suggesting I "calm down its only a toy" .... no its not a toy in my eyes but obviously is in yours. Each to their own I suppose, perhaps you should have campaigned for a friction drive version as it's a rather expensive toy in its current state (I'm calm now thank you).
