  1. Thanks Mark. It's just Enamels, applied in various ways and states of thickness with cotton buds, cocktail sticks and brushes. I did this one about 15 years ago actually. Cheers, Eddie.
  2. Free shipping now extended through Monday with no minimum order!
  3. And flexible as well perhaps. I had problems getting open wagons accepted with sides and floor less than .8mm thick, but that was a couple of years ago, I made van sides slightly thicker than that even in the interests of rigidity. Cheers, Eddie.
  4. https://www.shapeways.com/model/3dtools/3744693/1/114?key=a0b7a5ca2c9f7e99b8d447929318e6ac https://www.shapeways.com/model/3dtools/3744693/1/6?key=d8733892838b26e5cc3adb9735d4469e https://www.shapeways.com/model/3dtools/3745821/1/6?key=2e0113465a89484762061980d3d297ec Very interested to see if these will print successfully with sides, ends and floor at .5mm thick. If they do I'm going to have to revise all of my designs likewise. Cheers, Eddie.
  5. GNR 5 plank coal wagon now uploaded to Shapeways. https://www.shapeways.com/product/FD9JVDWSH/2mmfs-gnr-5-plank-coal-wagon?key=7e2582fdd96ce895ed197366ed7d2026 Cheers, Eddie.
  6. Thanks Adrian. I look forward to seeing how you get on with those. Now uploaded to shapeways: GNR 9 ton 4 plank open wagon. https://www.shapeways.com/product/JQNRSSM8P/2mmfs-gnr-4-plank-open-1875?key=850e531a40351b5ff0a5a6c098762987 Introduced in 1875, nearly 12000 inherited by the LNER. about 30 lasted until nationalisation. Some good information, including some not in the Tatlow books, here: https://basilicafields.wordpress.com/2011/06/15/great-northern-wagons-pt-1-the-9t-4-plank-open/ As usual I don't have all the answers regarding underframe / buffers etc., but 2mm scale Association etched underframe No. 2-328 ought to provide a starting point. Some related types to follow. Cheers, Eddie.
  7. Cheers Nick, Good man! At least the boxes look posh when you put out them out for recycling.
  8. Most of the items ordered during the free postage offer have now been shipped, bar a couple of wagons, but I don't think that particular guy uses this forum anyway. Please let me know how you get on with those, any issues or feedback. Cheers, Eddie.
  9. Three different types of SER coal wagon now uploaded to Shapeways: 1) 1864 coal wagon, these were fairly long lived, the last one being withdrawn from traffic in 1935. SR diagram 1328. Also EKR, one example lasting until nationalisation. 2) Dumb buffered version of above, built between 1876 and 1879. Withdrawal dates unknown but probably before WW1. Both these wagons having a wheelbase of 8ft 6 inches should suit Association underfame No. 2-326. Which may need to be trimmed to fit as these wagons are very short. 3) 1889 coal wagon, essentially an enlarged version of the 1864 wagon, with various detail differences, last one withdrawn from traffic in 1938. SR diagram 1334. Also EKR. This wagon having an unusual wheelbase of 9ft 4 inches will need to use separate etched W irons (2-312). Information, drawings and photographs in the OPC books: Southern Wagons Vol.3 SECR, and Vol.5 Southern Wagons Pictorial. All of these wagons it seems would also have been used for general merchandise by the time of the formation of the SECR, and in fact were reclassified as open goods by the SR. Cheers, Eddie.
  10. LB&SCR Stroudley era Open type A, Variant with lower rounded ends, only one plank higher than the sides, now uploaded to shapeways. Only just discovered a decent end shot of one of these, or I would have had it up in time to catch the free postage offer! Cheers, Eddie.
  11. Hi Ian. I have been following your work and taking notes for a good while now actually! Cheers, Eddie.
  12. Hi Nick, Again thanks for your support and feedback, much appreciated! Cheers, Eddie. PS. I just got an email telling me that the LB&SCR coal wagons have passed all checks.
  13. Hi Gareth, I only put the locating lugs for W iron units on where the prototype has an unusual wheelbase not covered by an association etch. (I think the SER van is an exception to this rule actually!) Unfortunately the W irons themselves are far too delicate to print at anything near to scale. My thinking is, if the Association provides a good range of parts then best to design around those. I've been trying to stick to simple designs with clean lines to be sure of getting a decent print, I spent a good bit of money in the beginning finding out what would work and what wouldn't! I do have a brakevan idea in the pipeline at the moment, I might just bump it up the schedule a bit. Thanks for your support and photos of your excellent work! Cheers Eddie.
  14. I've sold 70 of these little beasts now. Many thanks to everyone who has bought some. As I've said before I welcome any queries or feedback, either in this thread or via PM. I'm also keen to see what people are doing with them, so if you can find the time please post pictures or links to pictures / blogs / threads in here. More than half of those 70 were ordered during the current free postage offer from shapeways, so let's hope they repeat this offer again! Cheers, Eddie.
  15. I'm not certain about the withdrawal dates actually Gareth, I have read that most pre Stroudley wagons went during the '80s. Dave Searle may be able to give a more accurate date, I'm sure he'll be along at some point. Either way, it's your railway! Cheers, Eddie.
  16. Hi Gareth, V1 = conventional corner plates, V2 = conventional corner plates at one end, 4 horizontal corner straps at the other, V3 = 4 horizontal corner straps both ends, V4 = 3 horizontal corner straps both ends. These wagons would probably have disappeared from traffic during the 1880s, but some may have lingered later as internals or ED wagons. Cheers, Eddie PS. V1, V2 etc. are my classifications rather than the LB&SCR's.
  17. LB&SCR 1850 coal wagon, 4 variations of, now uploaded to Shapeways. Apologies to those waiting on something other than this, realistically I don't have anything else far enough along that I can get it uploaded in time to catch the current free postage offer. Hopefully Shapeways will repeat this offer at some point! SER/SECR/SR 1864 coal/open goods to come next, followed by GNR 4 plank open and many variations of. after that probably a couple of dumb buffered PO coal wagons. Cheers, Eddie.
  18. Thanks Guys, I've got a few bits in the pipeline but progress is slow at the moment due to the heat! I'll try and get something new up before the 12th! Cheers, Eddie.
