    The Model Rail Show For Larger Gauges The Midlands Garden Rail Show offers visitors the opportunity to see layouts in the larger gauges and scales. The show has a diverse range of layouts in Gauge 1, O Gauge, G Scale and more.     THE Show for Model Engineers We can’t wait to welcome you back to the Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition from Thursday 12th to Sunday 15th October 2023. We are pleased to announce that we will be celebrating 125 years of Model Engineering with the Society of Model & Experimental Engineers and Model Engineer and Model Engineers’ Workshop at this year’s exhibition. SMEE will celebrate this milestone with a special stand which incorporates a collection of historic models, workshop demonstrations and promotion of its current activities. Model Engineer and Model Engineers’ Workshop will be hosting a series of talks covering a wide range of topics by some of their authors. As always, we will joined by nearly forty of the leading model engineering specialist trade suppliers, all waiting to meet you and provide everything you need for your modelling activities. The exhibition will also showcase hundreds of fascinating models in competition and display classes and on nearly thirty club and society display stands and outside steamers.

This show sponsored by the Engineering In Miniature and Garden Rail magazines and is one of the leading model railway events dedicated to garden rail. This event features the larger gauges of O Gauge, G Scale, Gauge 1, 16mm and more. There will be over 15 layouts and clubs at the event. There will be over 1,000 superb models on display and a full lecture programme is presented together with workshop demonstrations. The exhibition this year will also feature; The Bi Centenary of Robert Stirling A special display presented by The Stirling Engine Society to celebrate the bicentennial anniversary of Robert Stirling’s Heat Economiser. The Spitfires 80th Anniversary The Supermarine Spitfire prototype Spitfire K5054 first took to the skies in 1936 from Southampton Airport. To celebrate its 80th anniversary this year, David Glen will be exhibiting with us and will bring some components of his 1:5 scale Spitfire Mk IX model, including the full instrument panel, control column, pilot’s seat, tail wheel assembly, etc. Outside, the popular 5” gauge outdoor track operated by the Coventry Society of Model Engineers and the Polly Owners Group will return along with the magnificent Fosse Way Steamers. The workshop and lecture programme is nearly complete and includes something for all model engineers. We see the welcome return of Phil Abbott, Derek Brown, Keith Hale, Mike Haughton, Noel Shelley and Peter Stevenson. We also welcome new lecturers to our programme including; Mark Brockley who will be covering Tooling and Horology, David Glen who will be explaining about the construction of a museum model masterpiece of the Spitfire and Gary Wooding who will be talking about the interesting properties of precious metals. Why not be part of the show and enter your work? Entry is free and there are 32 classes of which 16 are competition and 16 are display. These classes include: Locomotives, Rolling Stock, Stationary and Internal Combustion Engines. Models still under construction can also be entered in the display classes. Nearly 3,000 dedicated N Gauge modelers visit every year. This year the organisers are expecting the largest selection of specialist suppliers ever seen at the show, currently 44 trade exhibitors are confirmed to be attending. This will be THE place to visit to stock up on all the materials and models that any model rail enthusiast could ever need. There will also be over 30 layouts on display depicting American, Continental, BR Steam and Modern Image layouts as well as four of the leading societies for N Gauge enthusiasts. There will also be a very special private collection of Lonestar Models on display for visitors’ enjoyment, this will be located next to the American Lonestar layout “Charlieville”. This is a hugely popular specialist railway exhibition which totally focuses on N Gauge.
