  1. hi all, picked up my bullied loco yesterday from warely, is one thing though that has me stumped and it may turn out to be a fault. the cab light in one direction will not stay on when pressing function 2, it comes on then goes off, if I keep function 2 pressed it stays on. tried a few other 21 pin chips but does the same. I originally posted this in the kernow section, Jamie suggested it could be a problem with my gaugemaster in that f2 is used for horns, so sends a pulse rather than a on/off. anyone heard of this? thanks
  2. hi Jamie, its a gaugemaster. I must say I've never used f2 for anything other than horn so you may be right. i'll ask on the dcc section. thank you for your advice p.s its a cracking model, really looks the part.
  3. i picked mine up from Warley yesterday and had a chance to play today. its a lovely loco and runs so smooth. its having problems on back to back points that I need to investigate. there is one thing though that has me stumped and it may turn out to be a fault. the cab light in one direction will not stay on when pressing function 2, it comes on then goes off, if I keep function 2 pressed it stays on. tried a few other 21 pin chips but does the same. anyone tried this yet?
  4. out of my 3 maunsells only 1 had the close coupler, i fitted this between two coaches that where derailing and its fixed the issue. interestingly i removed my devon observation car and all the coaches stayed on track. i do think its the tension on the coupling and specifically the concertina effect of slowing on the entrance and exit of curves because of the drag. going to order a pack of teh r8220 today.
  5. I have had a play tonight, I put kadee no 19 on all couplings and it's behaving allot better, details now and again still not nearly as much, I'm starting to think it's the tension on the exit and entrance to curves, for info I think they are 3rd and 2nd radius.
  6. i have never really understood b2b and back to flange, i don't have a gauge. support taking the wheels off and just checking the distance between each wheel is the same would suffice?
  7. hi all, i have the Hornby devon bell train pack and having issues with the pullman coaches. Out of all my rolling stock (i have Hornby mk3 coaches, maunsell coaches, Bachmann, Hornby and Dapol wagos) the 3 coaches from this pack are having issues on certain parts of the layout, it happens 1 in 5 times on certain sections of track, speed does seem to play a part. it looks like the wheels are riding up the rails and causing derailments, one section is a small straight section. the track appears flat and straight, even my Dapol wagons roll over it fine which is usually my benchmark for well laid track. i don't know if its drag caused by the metals wipes over the axle or something that's causing tension on the bogies, before i go and rip up track and ballast are there deeper flanged wheels i could try? thanks
  8. sorry for the late reply, thank you for the help. as it turns out i called Bachmann and spoke to a very very helpful chap who just so happend to have a returned green 10000 sitting on his bench. for £12 i got x2 buffer beam detailing parts (its a whole buffer beam not just some hoses) x2 horns x3 wind screen whipers x4 buffers and most importantly, x2 front end hatches. i have now fitted these, painted and considering its my first attempt at any modifying its looks good, really pleased. i do want to add a roof fan and maybe side grills but that can wait for now. i'll add a few pics when its finished
  9. hi all, i have just acquired a silverfox 10000 for a very good price, comes on a Bachmann class 37 chassis so is dcc ready, happy days. it looks very nice but i'd like to add some detailing, buffer beams, roof fans, buffer stops, hand rails. i have searched high and low and can't find anything. does anybody know if you can buy detailing kits for it or which bits i could buy for other classes that i could use? thanks
  10. i am now looking at getting a non rebuilt MN, just need to sell my marine fish tank to fund my spending on model railways!
  11. thank you all for clearing that up. i think i got confused by the light pacific and MN, i thought the LP was still a MN, just a cut down version. i've only just started looking at southern region stuff and steam era in particular so still still learning. thanks again
  12. hi all, i'm a little confused and hoping someone can set me straight. from what i have read these new MN loco's have never been made by Hornby before but i have a Hornby R2661M THE BOURNEMOUTH BELLE TRAIN PACK. From what i have read this loco sits in gap when they where all be converted to BR, 1947-1948 with a modified cab, have i answered my own question in so much that Hornby have released loco's before and after my version? thanks
  13. thank you for the suggestions everyone. i was using it wrong. now sorted it out. I'm looking to replace it with the gauge master express set as i prefer the wheel to adjust speed and just the general ergonomics, i know it does not have as many functions (16 i think) but for me that does not matter.
  14. hi all, recently bought a NCE powercab and in the main i'm happy with it. however i have two issues with it 1: i select loco 1, set it on its way and add it to the stack, then select loco 2, set it on its way and add to the stack. now when i press recall to operate loco 1 the speed and direction of loco 1 changes to that of loco 2. for this reason i don't use the recall funciton 2: the throttle wheel is always in the wrong direction, i have to scroll down to go faster and up to slow down. can anyone shed light on both these please? for info my powercab is running verison 1.28 thanks
