Yes, I saw it this morning, it did look very nice!! Tony

Many thanks, I'll try epoxy resin and will certainly try to reinforce it as suggested. The break is at a very weak point. Tony

Just as I thought my Great Western 517 was reaching completion, a little slip, too much pressure and "whoops"! The bunker just snapped off, one downside to 3D printed parts, they do seem rather brittle. It's not the end of the world, I'm sure it can be repaired and the weak point reinforced. Has anyone any suggestions as to the most effective adhesive for 3D prints? Tony

Probably pop home or carry a can and boil it up in the yard? Tony -
Purely from an aesthetic point of view, to my mind the top version looks less cramped and the Achingham line appears to have a longer independent run. Tony

Not necessarily, as we've seen a great many small coal merchants worked out of their homes and Mrs Parry would, presumably, be there to take orders. Tony -

Yes, I like that, it has a certain Welsh quaintness about it! Tony -

I do like the idea of a coalman with a donkey cart, a use for the Dart Castings donkey! Tony -

I remember reading about a small scale coal merchant, I think in Birmingham, who stabled his horse in the yard at the back of his terraced house. I don;t recall reading about many merchants who had stables in the railway yard even when they had offices there. Tony -
I do like this, just right for a local landowner with ideas above his station!! I can just see it at DA. Tony

I am aware of that but as far as I can see others cannot react to my posts now. -
Ah Villiers, the constant in my early motorcycling life (especially pre licence age) you could do anything with them. A great grounding before bigger bikes took over. Tony

Rufford Red Lion Square
brumtb replied to James Harrison's topic in Pre-Grouping - Modelling & Prototype
That sounds very workable, especially if the shortened "expresses" can justify a medium mainline loco. I have a soft spot for Jersey Lilies myself. Tony -

Perhaps a question to self ask is "will I miss 'Directors', 'Sam Fays' and 'Lord Faringdons'? With Birmingham Bull Ring I decided to just concentrate on the local trains and trip freight workings and assume the heavier trains are elsewhere or run when I'm not operating! That way I can run short trains with, mainly tank engines. Although I did succumb to an Improved Precedent, but then, that is smaller than some of the tank engines! So far it has worked! Tony -
Thank you for the background information, most interesting. My wife and I visited Durham a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed our stay. Whilst in the Market Place a fellow visitor was heard to comment that they had left the tramlines in place but he was advised that the "lines" were part of a drainage system. Interestingly water was flowing across the surface whist a couple of council workmen looked on! Tony

In 1984 I was appointed Her Majesty's Inspector of Taxes. Not everybody's favourite but I always tried to remember who I represented and acted accordingly. Tony

Recently my wife and I visited Prince Charles’ garden at Highgrove and stopped off at Tetbury on the way. We were pleased to see that the impressive former goods shed is still in use as a vibrant arts centre and surprised to see the little signal box in place. Further enquiry discovered a local news report explaining that it is the original box, taken out of use in 1926 and sold to a local estate agent who used it as a garden shed until 2009. It was then acquired and restored by Stephen Randolph, author of the Wild Swan book about the Tetbury Branch, who re-sited the box in his garden in Derbyshire. At the end of 2021 Randolph was moving house and donated the box to the Tetbury Goods Shed Arts Centre where it was subsequently reassembled and officially reopened in June this year. A lovely building back on its original site after almost 100 years! Tony
