  1. Hi Guys Was down at mum's last week, cannot get anywhere near Moorthorpe slip location to take photograph due to lots of housing and vegetation. Generally do we agree that this is the location even with the odd milepost? Dave
  2. Hi Guys I seemed to have opened a can of worms sorry! The cab ride brought back lots of memories I rode Leeds to Wakefield Westgate many times in the early 70's and South Elmsall to Doncaster in the 80's when lived at Hemsworth. When I go to see my mum next I'll try and detour and see if I can get a corresponding photograph of the slip curve. Dave
  3. Hi I know this goes along back but I've just picked up this thread. Did you resolve the above location? It looks familiar but the mile post is throwing me. Suggestion: Moorthorpe where the 'slip' line leaves the Sheffield to York line and does down to meet the Doncaster to Leeds main line? I know from my records Western Region locomotives often work through this junction. Spent many hours within the 'triangle'. I cannot check now as I have not lived down that way for many years but from memory the relative heights of track and bridge design look right. Dave
  4. Hi Paul Beat me to it just found LLC cv changes as issued on web site BUT mine also includes changing 458 = 7 ? I subsequently up-rated the function buttons as your instruction to give different headcode light arrangement for class of train which is brilliant! Dave
  5. John It looks very much like the way mine operated when I first purchased it with an early decoder. At one time there was a fix on Little Loco Company's web site but I'm having trouble getting on that. I'll see if I have still got the cv's re-set numbers this evening if that helps. Dave
  6. Hi After a lot of thought and a fair amount of my mate 'tinkering' with the plan on Templot I think I have a plan I can develop and enjoy. The right hand selector has been 'withdrawn' for now, has as the 'canal scene' and left hand selector, this has been replaced with a small selector board, meaning slightly shorter train lengths. The rails from the right of the main left hand angled board with now cross the board joint at 90 degrees so that a later date the removed 'canal' element could be re-instated with the track positioned in the same place on the board so the layout can operate with or without the additional 'canal scene' board dependent on space available. So next, new angled board to construct and then start laying track, finally! Dave
  7. Hi John Boy I had similar issues with my Class 15 which was purchased with a decoder fitted. Had a lot of problems with lights not going on/off as instructions. Turns out it was a older decoder, Steve from Little Loco offered to change it for free but I believe there was a 'fix' on Little Loco's web page so I used that and all worked perfectly. I have 'tweaked' it a bit more when Paul gave a set of CV's to change so that a each function button set up a different headlight 'headcode' arrangement for say, light engine or fitted goods etc. It was quite a long set of CV's to amend but works brilliantly. Certainly Pauls the man. I doubt you will get any reply from Steve as Little Loco Company is up for sale, see their trade thread on here. Dave
  8. Hi Guys Sorry for the break in service but there is a little bit of a re-think going on. See layout design was done as a preferred option, in the hope that at some time I would have enough room to build the whole thing. Reality check! may never happen so now re-assessing the situation with a view to make it fit in the space available! One option (made by my 'interfering mate only joking) is to omit the right hand station selector board and make it a disused terminus station now taken over by industry with the odd workers passenger train still using the facilities. Any thoughts (opening can of worms) gladly excepted. OR Do I carry on building as I originally designed and hope for a Lottery win and a move of home!! Dave
  9. Hi Steve Any news on progress of the Ruston? Regards Dave
  10. Hi Chris That looks superb cannot wait to get my hands on one. Quick question (maybe not the place for this but) have all the pre-ordered DCC sound fitted locos now been dispatched or are you still waiting further deliveries of models and speakers? Just I have a 'blue' one on order (No.30 I think!) and I've not heard anything yet. Regards Dave
  11. Hi Guys Just spotted this. I lived in Hemsworth not many miles from Wath Shed and mainly cycled there or drove there later when I got my first car, fairly frequently usually on a sunday from about 1970 until the depot closed. I never knew there was a diesel depot as well. When we visited, with little difficulty from management, we always visited the electric shed. EM1s parked in a long line under the wires, there were no wires in the shed itself. We accessed from the west (road crossing) end of the yard and cycled down a cinder track which came out on the access road to the to the depot. Class 08, 31, 37 and 47s were noted there hidden from the road over the bridge by the depot buildings. Last time I visited it had been taken over by what appeared to be a chemical industry concern. I've a few photos if anyone's interested but the quality is not brilliant as they are scans of photographs Dave
  12. Hi Alan Nice locos cannot wait to see them run. Your "goodness knows what" presumably refers to sorting out my templot plan. Thanks again mate. Dave
  13. Hi First lot of track components have arrived from C & L, so let track work commence. All I have to do now is get my printer (or better still big A1 plotter) to print the Templot layout that my mate kindly worked up into a usable format. Not Templot's problem, just me not learning how to manipulate the programme. Progress photos to follow soon, he hopes!! Dave
  14. Hi 47606odin Thanks for your very informative and easy to follow instruction videos, far clearer than the instruction manual. I knew the ECoS did more than 'drive' the trains but could not work our from the manual exactly what! Thanks also your description of wiring Cobalt IP motor points and how easy there are to programme through the Command Station this has convinced me that's the way forward for my point operation. Many thanks great videos. Keep up the good work. Layout looking great too. Regards Dave
  15. Hi Alan Is the next addition to be video projects showing clouds, planes, hot air balloons and thunderstorms etc onto to the shed walls/ceiling, just wondered! hee hee. See you later mate. Dave
  16. Hi David Yes the Peckett was through EDM Models, sound files and the ability to 'drive' the loco with brakes on F2 are superb. I am considering switch it over to 'worn' settings! They don't seem to come up that often on e thingy either. The smoke and lights were installed by Modelyard near Leeds. Only because at that time I did not feel confident in tackling the smoke unit and light fitting and wiring and my usual problem, time I have to go to work. Apparently the hardest part is drilling out the chimney to take the smoke unit. In future I'll do them myself, with hopefully help from this forum if I get stuck!! Cheers Dave
  17. Jamie No problems, I'll try and drop in at the village hall. David Photos of Peckett, somewhat modified from original model, straight handrail to smokebox, new handrails to side tanks, lights, smoke and lifting rings to tank (on reflection they look a bit heavy). Needs a workshop visit for a partial re-paint and weathering. Grey patch on tank top is where I removed the bell after a change of mind. Fitted with Paul Chetter sound file (which is superb like normal) and 'stay alive' all as supplied by Chris and Chris. The 'stay alive' is a bit disconcerting sometimes, you can turn all the power OFF and the loco still sits there hissing from 2 or 3 minutes. Anyway below are the photos.
  18. Hi David The interchange has no specific industry yet! although I suppose given where it is supposed to be located it should be something to do with textiles or maybe light engineering. There is also a small yard on the opposite side of the main line for general goods with a interchange with the narrow gauge line, which may have transported wagons (aka Leek & Manifold) now that would be interesting problem to solve. Running a standard wagon onto a transporter wagon and making it stay there while in motion, sky hooks/magnets? The sidings run into or behind many of the proposed buildings so plenty of places to 'hid' wagons. The Victory Class is a beast of a model, mine has acquired lights and smoke. It maybe next into the workshop for detailing, the sound file is superb. As I said in a early posting both the HCs are smoke fitted but to get the smoke unit in the chimney in it is not the original, cannot be that obvious as no one's commented YET! I also have one of Chris's Pecketts again sound, lights and smoke fitted been slightly modified with revised/additional handrails. I'll post a photo later if you are interested. Cheers Dave
  19. Hi David The locomotives were painted with a thinned down mix of bauxite/matt black and then the areas I did not want were polished with T-cut leaving dirty area in the angles and under handrails etc. The T-cut also gives a 'used' shine to the clean paintwork. Copied idea from Chris (81A) and others BUT he polishes first! Yes the small industrial will work the small private yard and interchange with the mainline, although my 'Victory' Class 0-6-0 again from the two Chris's is getting on the large side but the sound/slow running/working braking on F2 is superb That what I like about this forum somebody always has a great idea(s) how do do something. Cheers guys! Dave
  20. Hi Jamie That looks great. We are staying near Giggleswick in the caravan over Easter Week so will try and get to Long Preston which I know is not far away Dave
  21. HI Jamie I've got a couple of Harold Bowtell's books Rails through Lakeland Parts 1 & 2 but not one about reservoir railways. Which of these two were you referring to in your post, Lesser Railways of Yorkshire Dales or Reservoir Railways of Yorkshire Pennines? Thanks Dave
  22. HI Jamie Glad I cleared that one up. Thanks for your kind comments. The wagons were weathered when I bought them, although I have added some more detailing. The Hudswell Clarke locos were from the two Chris's stable, which received smoke units and lights then I weathered them, 'Jessica' is not quite finished yet needs further detailing, and a crew. The Fowler is also from the Chris's via EDM who squeezed a sound chip in some how, it sounds great especially the 'donkey' engine start before the main engine fires up. I've not read that particular book but will look out for it. south tyne again thanks for kind comments. The little blue loco, Ladysmith, it came with that name when I bought it, is I believe a Sentinel 4WVBTG steam loco, 4W = four wheels, VB = vertical boiler TG = ? It was also painted these colours, I'm undecided yet, to weather it or not. This loco has also has lights and a smoke unit fitted which is emitted through the round grille on the cab roof immediately above the boiler. Dave
