  1. No. This is a very small element that will have to be compromised on.
  2. And all manufacturers do make compromises... Best, Rich
  3. Hi, Sadly, it's a sign of the times. The costs involved in this project have increased significantly and with having a full diecast chassis, it adds to the cost. Had we have gone with a plastic version, we may have been able to make it cheaper, however the running quality would be poor. Best, Rich
  4. And to get an idea of what our more modern version will look like, here’s a teaser... Note, this is only a mock up and not our actual bogie as they are still being tooled.
  5. Hi all, The variants produced include Engineers Black, Olive Green and Engineers Yellow. Due to the diecast nature of the chassis, we had to make a compromise when it came to the tensioners. Therefore they feature on all variants given most of the models that will be produced of the Salmons will be from the late 70's onwards. I note the packaging comment above and I know this is being resolved following today's email and so on. Finally, we are currently in tooling for the ASF bogie to enable versions from the 90's onwards. An announcement will be made on these in due course. All can be ordered from www.footplate.co.uk Best, Rich
  6. The livery samples of our Salmon wagon arrived yesterday as the project continues on track for an autumn release. The 3 initial liveries of Plain Black, Olive Green and Engineers Yellow are nearly ready to enter production once a few final tweaks have been made. Overall though, we're happy with how they're turning out and looking forward to seeing them in production soon. Rich
  7. Hi, they will be different running numbers. We will be announcing these at a future date. Thanks, Rich
  8. Flangeway and Dapol announce O Gauge Independent Snowplough – designed and produced in the UK! Flangeway are pleased to announce in partnership with Dapol their latest new product which sees them expand into O Scale with their first ready to run model. The OO Gauge Independent Snowplough has been widely received since its launch many years ago and its subsequent reruns. With the rise of O Scale ready to run in recent years, it is the natural progression for Flangeway to take and so they are pleased to make the next step in their range development. Dapol are also pleased to announce that this will become a UK manufactured product and are extremely proud of the fact that the production will be moved to the UK once the initial release has been delivered. In another quirk to the project, all of the design work has been undertaken by Dapol’s Apprentice CAD Engineer, Ben Davies who has undertaken the work alongside his daily studies. Richard Barnett from Flangeway said: “We are extremely proud that we are able to bring this product to market. It has been much requested for a while now and with the encouragement from our friends at Dapol, the opportunity arose to develop this new product. We are particularly proud that we are helping to develop UK skills and assist in re-growing the UK manufacturing industry.” Joel Bright, Dapol MD said: “We are very excited about this development, not only because Flangeway have put their trust in Dapol to bring this model to fruition for which we are exceptionally grateful, but it also marks a milestone in that this project is the first ever we have ever fully designed and drawn up from our base in Chirk. We hope this signifies the first of many.” All CAD work is now complete on the model which will now enter the tooling stage with a view to bringing the Snowplough to market during 2021. Flangeway’s sister business, Footplate, has now opened expressions of interest which can be registered via the website. Built in the 1960’s on modified tender frames from LNER steam locomotives, British Rail created around 40 of these large drift snowploughs, some of which continue in service today with Network Rail. RRP is expected to be around the £95 mark with the initial variants to feature popular liveries including; Scottish, Network Rail and 1965 versions. 9. Hi all, thank you all for your feedback. It is hoped that we will receive livery samples during July, and subject to all being okay, the wagon will enter production soon after. To round off a couple of comments from above: 1) Price. This is always a difficult issue as people can appreciate. The wagon is made out of mainly metal in order to give the wagon it's weight and strength, therefore this does come at a cost. We were not prepared to settle for a wagon that can buckle, twist or be too light and therefore this has had to be factored into the cost. 2) Bogies. The current plan includes releasing the air braked versions with the ASF bogies (modern versions). We are working on the design process for these, however to make this a little bit easier we require drawings of the bogie. We have a lot of data which is with China, however if anyone knows of a drawing for this bogie type we would be most grateful. Thanks Rich
  10. EP2 has now arrived!!!!! Let us know your thoughts below...
  11. Our current one's are priced at £49.95, however it will depend on what the exchange rate is...
  12. In many respects, we're family run businesses who are able to operate at low risk. Footplate will keep going for as long as we can... Note: Peco items starting to get low, but still a healthy range in stock. 20% off too. BW Rich
  13. Yes is the short answer... Work is well on the way to produce the ASF bogie's to depict examples from the 90's onwards. On the load front, no we won't be doing this, however I am sure plenty of others will fill the void.
  14. RE: PECO We still have large quantities of PECO products available for mail order. Check out the website and you will see. Last count was 15 boxes of code 100... Rich
  15. Hi Phil, We don't have a facility to take pre-orders without full payment, so there's a couple of options: 1). Full payment is taken and we hold it in a secure account until the item is released. We don't fund projects from pre-order funds - we take the capital risk so if 100% of our customers wanted their money back we can do this at any point. 2). Sign up to our newsletter to stay on top of updates and when they become available we will update accordingly. Our newsletter link is here: http://www.footplate.co.uk/index.php?main_page=page&id=3&zenid=58a0bb59dccc21d08d792c051184c883 We will of course keep this thread up to date now we're located on the main trade / product area rather than lost in the Smaller Supplier section. Thank you, Rich
  16. Hi all, The artwork for our Salmon wagons has now been completed. We expect to have the revised EP and livery samples early summer with a potential release scheduled in for around late autumn/early winter as things stand. We've opened up pre-orders also on http://www.footplate.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=212_437 Cheers, Rich
  17. We are pleased to announce liveries and prices for our forthcoming Salmon wagon... http://www.footplate.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=212_437&zenid=fd28e58d800d3cfae60ad45d80f35bec
  18. Once all the livery variants are announced all will become clear. We hope this will be around mid-Feb once the artwork is ready.
  19. We’ve done much of the research on the next batch and now need to tool the bogie and the cranes as they will form part of the second batch which we hope will follow in 2021. We basically need to slot in the tooling for this as we are also working on a couple of other projects which we have yet to announce, however we are confident that we will be able to move forward quickly.
  20. January 2020 Update: Attention has focussed on the finer details of the wagon include the platform surface and the 'strap box' which is underslung on the chassis. We noticed on the Engineering Prototype that there were a number of details that had been omitted and rather than press on with production we needed to make sure that we captured the key features of the wagon before signing off the sample. Therefore this has added an increased delay to the next stage of the project and now hope to receieve an updated EP in the next couple of months. We will also be able to provide pricing and livery specifications soon which are currently being finalised. The first release will focus on the 8ft bogie in both air braked and unfitted forms. Rich
  21. We can confirm that Snowploughs are now finally in stock and we will shortly be dispatching them. Unforeseen delays unfortunately hindered progress, however we are now able to ‘plough’ on to ensure that everyone’s model railways are prepared for the forthcoming snow...
  22. Hi all, Yes. Indeed they are at last! Sorry for the lack of news but we’ve had to sample the ploughs 3 times which seriously hindered progress. They are now in production and will be with us in December in time for Christmas! Tooling changes are ongoing for the Salmon wagon and an update will follow on this in the coming weeks. all the best, Rich
