The picture of Lampeter (Which I have seen before) looks tohave been taken in the years that were about the time of "just before" the Great War, maybe 1905 - 10.
IF it was about that time, there is a more that fair chance that my granddad was in or about the picture

I would hope that the formerly too easy availability of "international travel" is gone for good.
Don't quote me, cos I cant quote it, but I am sure I read (somewhere) that about 60% of all airline miles are people who are just going off on a bit of a jolly - surely that has got to change?

I booked both my jabs online at the same time.
It took me no more than five minutes and all worked as well as one would wish for.
I had the first one the next day and the second one is booked for late June.

When i had been for my Jab
I noticed this point behind the tram stop
It appears to be half way thru a renewal, and I took a pic cos I had never seen a point so new but undressed as it were....

I hope the shops are inundated with clothes!
I seem to be a point where almost everything I own is now relegated to being classed as "work wear" - and then only for painting in or the worst of jobs

Oh Simon, yes, you're right, but please, don't start!
The Captain's Black 5 Rule applies here
I too am a great believer in the Captain's Rule...
At the very least it is a very good place to start from.
I also think that having snide digs at a set of aspirational standards is bad form

Well
I am now at Jab: Zero hour + 48
Two full days later, apart from a still-sore arm and feeling seriously tired I think I'm more or less as good as ever now.
Yesterday, I really did feel rather rough at times though.

West (and SW) Sheffield may be unique in that you have city centre >> large University /Teaching General Hospital>> Suburbia >> Peak District on a four mile walk out of town....

I think there is some sort of low-level but large mass migration going on....
A mix of Covid lead lifestyle re thinking, the Stamp Duty window and just a realization of what actually is better has seen local house prices (to me) go up in the region of 15% in the last year.

Quite so which is why I said "hardly foolproof" but a 70 plate LR Evoque with West London garage plates (other marques are available) on the clifftop is a great excuse to have a whinge :-)
Well done on getting your 1st (?) jab done.
Stu
Yep the first one, I'm only just Fifty so I'm in the sweepings up of the older ones to be done Next one is in June.

The new coastal community pastime - spot the registration number. Yes, I know it's hardly foolproof but it passes the time whilst out :-)
Stu
All the time I lived in Cornwall, I only had one locally registered car.
Simply because the sort of
junkpre-loved classic I would drive are far far cheaper Up North.Cheap enough in the order of "you could make a living out of it!" (indeed I believe some Dealers do indeed do just that)

Concur but ideally from a BK not a Maccy D.
Strange to report that (apart from the railway station - ££) I dont know where there is a BK in Sheffield.....

One thing that does give me a slight joy about my visit to the Vets tommorrow is that I have to change between Bus and Tram at some point.
The Optimum transfer point involves walking
pastinto Maccy DI dont care what anyone else ever says, but I reckon that a Bacon Double Cheeseburger is the best pence/calorie food that has been invented

It may be because I am left handed, but Tin Openers really are the Devils work to me....
I have used all sorts of tools to get into recalcitrant cans (and once or twice drilled the cork out of wine bottles when really thirsty)
Then again, as long as it aint got things actually growing on it, smells like a midden, or is made mainly of chemicals its food to me...

Its my turn for an injection tomorrow....
I wouldn't say I'm scaredy nervous, but I only booked it this morning so I'm a bit new to this idea!

The above ideology could be why I recently counted 36 tins of baked beans in the larder - and not one of them was panic bought!
Just taking advantage of offers as they arise

Just thinking about IMREX 84...
I may be wrong, but I sort of remember that the following were there....
The ESLR Rice & Barlow
Bodmin P4 North London Group
Petherick Barry Norman
and
Victoria Square by Mac Pyrke
IF I am right, just how good was the show!!!

During it's short stay (3 years IIRC) at the Wembley Conference Centre
Yep!
a week long exhibition
I was only quite young, but my Dad was good and took me there twice and once to the Horticultural Halls show.
I can't remember it snowing (as Neil referred to) so that must have been the year before I went.

The Sherwood Section was featured in the St Michael
BookEncyclopedia of Model Railways, as were a number of other fantastic layouts from the time (1979-ish).Even today, that is probably still the model railway book I have looked at most
It is still often available on eBay etc.

I agree, I saw the ESLR at....Imrex or the ME exhibition ????.... many moons ago, and his locos ran very well indeed on the trackwork that P4 Police would not have liked! Seemed to be a nice chap too, I wish I had opportunity to have had more discussions with him. I really enjoy his wrightings.
The ELSR was at IMREX in 1984.
I knew Iain quite well back in the 90s and he is indeed a very nice, very helpful chap. He is also extremely good at this game!

I find it rather strange that the much reviled Wetherspoons empire seem to know how to make pubs work, yet those who want to drink a "few pints of Old Molestrangler" while knitting their own beard never do
Unless they are somewhere otherwise unfashionable, like Sheffield, which is still awash with good pubs...

That reminds me, I totally missed St Pirans Day for a bit of flag flying this year....
Blame that on lockdown and never knowing what day it actually is
