  1. That sounds lovely. Though I have been sitting in the layout room (lounge) looking at the layout thinking to my self I don't know where to start on doing things again. Then looking at the coffee talbe at the Wills station kit (to which I don't have any instructions {PM me if you have a copy} trying to figure out how to start it all!)Again thinking where to start... Then having SWMBO coming in going I want to go out this afternoon!... Where to start!
  2. Very impressive Rick. The overall layout shot is quite rare on this site. It gives every one a lovely image! Like the idea of the shopping cart.... My layout is only 14ft long but I seem to do lots of laps when doing things!
  3. Hello all, I was sitting down yesterday to a nice day of modelling and opened my Wills station kit CK16.. which I had bought locally at a swap meet. Thinking what a lovely way to spend the nice winters day and a little modelling can occur. I opened the 2 boxes and looked though the parts sitting in front of me where to start. At this point I noticed that there was a single important thing missing... the instructions (well the templates)..... Ahhhh thought i how am I going to build this nice little station! My plea to you is does any one have a copy of the instructions they can scan and email to me? I have figured out some parts but the main station building I have yet to start! So PM me if you have the instructions. In playing around yesterday I have found a better way to cut the Wills sheets. It is to use a scaple until about halfway through then to use a big stanley knife with a new blade! Oh and I will throw a few photos on with what I am thinking at some stage!
  4. Now SRman where are you going to run all those nice new Pullmans? I am not sure that any 12 wheelers are ending up in the North East of england which by a quirk of fate is West of you! :P BTW the A3 is running beautifully with 4 coaches on... just have to adjust the 3 A4's and another A3!
  5. Pete that is really looking good. The 142 and the 150 really do fit in nicely I am most envious of the time that you can spend on your layout and the rolling stock. I hadn't had a chance to say congrates of the photo of the month! See you next week end here! hopefully I can get some more stuff done on it... though with work I doubt it!
  6. You've been busy again Peter. I am a little envious of the time that you have to play with things! Oh well back to putting the bath room back together.. I think we might need it for the BRMA meeting!. You lot don't need the shower, bath or tiling just the basin to wash the old hands!
  7. Oh no Pete, looks like you will have to put in some hoses and stand pipes!
  8. That looks great Rick, rather than recharging/ replacing the batteries. Have you thought about using a redundant mobile phone transformer or a (at great expense to the management) New transformer from Dick Smith. I bought one for about 30dollars. You also have a variable voltage so combined with the GofW bulbs you can turn down the voltage and adding a Pot into the circuit you could change the intensity and maybe extend the life of the bulbs.
  9. Well Alex just to drive you nuts it is 27degrees today... lovely and sunny..... B) This is Autumn. Though the old joke about Melbourne "don't like Melbourne weather.... wait 5 minutes it will change!"
  10. Oi Pete don't remind him I have to build the framing for him and it is going to be quite complex! I have the track plan here It is going to take a fair bit of time just working out the gradients!
  11. Looks very nice Rick. I too have been playing with oil staining though I have noticed with Steamloco's you end up with 2 parallel lines between the rails. In OO it is a challange to get the 2 lines not to mix I have found.

    Heljan Class 15

Well when are your bringing it around? Letts see if it can cope with the 1:30 and a few wagons
  13. Who said that we were ganging up on Pete? Just because he is sitting at the top of the slid... or is that holding on to the bars for dear life as his fingers start to slip because of buy 1 sound loco... He will go DCC when one system comes up cheap on ebay or at a meeting. Take your time keep buying decoder fitted loco's then the conversion to the dark side will be complete.... Ha ha ha ha har (in the best Darth vader speech that I can do!) Pete when you do all you need to do is ask and we can help. the decoder fitting is not too hard. In the older loco's you will find spending more time getting the lights into them than the decoder. (all in fun)
  14. Hey Pete it is no more expensive than the Sound fitted loco for the base station. Ie Digitrax Zephyr or the NCE. Then you will be buying chips for a while but you can do them progressively. The same way as SRman and I have done.... WE will even let you on the secrets.... Come on in the water's fine B)
  15. Gees you havn't just laid a track or 2.... how many boxes did you go through? I agree with you regarding reach (personally standing 190cm tall we do have some advantages) though I do draw the line at 1100mm. I am sure that this will make it into one of the mags as a layout that never leaves home! Extremely impressive. You have channeled my thoughts on the use of levels and gradients. The White rose baseboards and spril make it an easier prospect to get a even gradient. A great looking and no doubt operating layout. All the best
  16. Quick some one change the rules before he comes back..... Hope you have a great time Pete, Don't have too many things in the suitcase or Mrs PCM might make you fit back in the suit case!
  17. Sorry Rick, I claim it is always have a problem to remember a name when I have only meet some one once. As we have said at a BRMA meeting call them Peter as about a 1 in 4 chance that you will be right. Now I will go and write on the black board. It is Rick not Chris... 1000 times Yes Peter it is rather warm no doubt you havn't been out the layout in the last couple of days. Yesterday was nice on the Rye beach at 5.00 nice breeze kids in the water!... letts hope it cools down from the 36 or what ever it was yesterday and today!
  18. Good to see your back Chris, AS I have moved only to the latest RMweb I have been missing a few "layouts". I agree with you about the blog's I can't figure them out. Happy new year! B)
  19. So Mrs PCM wins the day . Sounds like the indecision was a good thing Peter. You would have hated the meeting (9m x6m Layout room) what fun you could have in that!!!
  20. Well as Planning permission has already been approved. I can see how going around the bend will be better. Taking it into the round really will change the feel of the layout. I think it will be for the better. I think the one thing that might go in you favour is if the whole thing goes up in the world. Ie make the legs longer for the whole layout. That way you won't have to ben as much to get in to your modelling desk. As you know me I have a great time tinkering with something as a train trundles around, in fact I forgot, today, and 3 hours later the train was still happy chugging around! Now no rash decisions now!
  21. Well Pete, I think Pete, that it would be better to start again and go totally for a new layout rather than modify the existing as I don't think that you would ever be happy with what you ended up with. This is the same as SRman...Newton demolitions will start shortly with Newton reconstruction services already contracted for the civil engineering works... He is ready to totally start again. I need to clear the garage of the book shelf system that I am building a 'la Manfred's ideas on casters. Sorry this is sounding negative to your thoughts how ever is the new plan realistic to achieve the type of operations you want. Let alone the problem of that Fridge.... Bring it along to the BRMA meeting and give us all a chance to give our thoughts... Just remember what happened to Frank's.... Totally redesigned and the building grew! All the best
  22. Pete, notice that you managed to avoid the sound chip sticking around too long! Jeff and I will convert you to the dark side one day! Nice to actually have the paint colours for the track. I will have to have a go at some time.
  23. Well I would go for the one that you have the least information on and one that no one has heard of. Budleigh Salterton gets my vote as I had never head of it before!
