  1. Guess I hit a nerve or two amongst MS employees then..........................................
  2. A few years back I managed a service depot with a fleet of vans, Ford Transits were far and away the most reliable and were the drivers favourites for long journeys. The Mercs were a distant second with LDV and Fiat some distance behind them.
  3. That's the problem, MS don't tell you what will or won't be supported anymore, there was a time when they did, updates will get better for pc users now they have dropped the idea of being a mobile phone system as well. They still have the attitude of everyone has to bend to their will rather than offering a service that we can use on various non MS products. I have a modern desk top and there are running and startup problems that are slowly diminishing with each upgrade, that to me clearly indicates it wasn't right the first time. I prefer the mantra of doing it once and doing right, rather than constant patching and upgrades. Had we got more choice I doubt MS products would be so popular with consumers.
  4. Windows 10 has to be the worst software I've ever used on a pc and Microsoft seem to be the worst company on the planet for customer relations, after nearly 6 months my photoshop 11 has miraculously repaired with the latest upgrades. Why would they download something to you when they haven't tested if it works? Next pc will defo NOT have Microsoft system on it.
  5. I didn't write a speech, just a couple of ideas to prompt me if I dried up on a piece of paper that opened out to be about 4 feet long(folded up small), that broke the ice when I said I've written a short speech and then unfolded it.
  6. I stuck one on here, wrong place for it I guess http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/124304-the-great-central-in-and-around-leicester-195565/page-3
  7. Adder2 by tigerburnie, on Flickr There's a Glen close to where I live that can seem to be crawling with these if you know where to look.
  8. Great Spotted Woodpecker by tigerburnie, on Flickr Local woodland shot, though we do get a pair in our garden
  9. Humpback Whale by tigerburnie, on Flickr Do a bit of wildlife photography round Scotland, this Whale stayed for a couple of weeks just off a local beach
  10. I like the subdued look of the paving slabs on top of the platform, my Metcalfe ones are a tad too "brand new" and in your face, hopefully a bit of weathering will tone them down to a more realistic look.
  11. Windows new update a success, what ever next, after weeks of lousy pictures and crashing software, with Photoshop not functioning, it all begins to work again

  12. Windows new update a success, what ever next, after weeks of lousy pictures and crashing software, with Photoshop not functioning, it all begins to work again

  13. Thanks Alan, I am not sure about sticking anything on the top, the last attempt looked a bit lumpy, although having said that, looking at photographs the original was no bowling green either.
  14. I wish that were true, my flippin' desk top is now covered in "apps" I never asked for courtesy of a Windows up date( where's the grrrrrr emoticon)
  15. I am progressing slowly with the station, just dropped the new sections of platform in to see how it fits, ballast needs shifting before final fit, now adding lights and wiring will be progressing this week for that. Looking at photographs, I have built the red brick rectangular walls at the base of the water cranes and can't remember what was in them, I have a vague recollection that there was a drain in there and I think some valve work for the water supply, or am I mixing it up with something else?
  16. 50 years as an engineer made me think those size bolts would be a bit light weight, no criticism, just an observation based on years of experience, not in model making though.
  17. 2BA and 4Ba screws are a bit light weight aren't they?
  18. You'll have to get a tripod Andy, feeling a bit seas sick now lol, shows your layout off well.
  19. I expect to see the "rozzers" turn up soon to shift those hippies from the field though lol.
  20. I never saw the "Wolf", before my time on the ECML, the front looks a bit too American for my liking, the B1 is much more to my taste.
  21. Gilbert is the "new" colour fixed or is the pastel sticking nicely as is?
  22. It must be 50 years since I worked with balsa wood, apart from making a few fishing floats, what a nice material to work with, I might use it a whole lot more, I now have a heap of old manky Hornby platorms to shift.
  23. The platform re-build begins It will need some more cross bracing, but I've used up the balsa, any advice about the finishes would be appreciated, plan is brick on the sides and the top should be slabs for he third that is under cover, then the rest was tarmac. I tried sticking sand paper on the previous incarnation and I don't like it, so I thought I might try paint, sprinkled with fine "N gauge" ash granules?
  24. Another new layout to me, some excellent work done, Aberdeen looks very different today now.
