  1. Despite a bit of a lackluster work week as far as modelling, I had managed to pay some attention to the nearly complete E4-X. Work has focused mainly on the details thus far, though I was in need of a session to sort out the body "slots". I had been graced by the kindly Tony Teague, who has granted me, at the expense of one international postage, his Bachmann E4 body - the chassis will of course have remained, waiting for the final print product. How great It is to have a working chassis <Personal experience has taught me to appreciate such a thing> Overall, the model is nearly complete, with the exception of the conversion to a flat kit. I have found more often than not putting it off, as I have wanted to finalize all possible details. Nevertheless she is very well as is, and I am likely to see myself finally exercising my flat kit skills, quite possibly come the end of this week! As for the Brighton Well Tank, she is quite done!.. almost - In actuality, she is waiting on a proof of her dimensions overall. Both engines will be made to fit OO, fittingly down to HO, it being a gauge I am most familiar with. I had received a general caution on the Well Tank for EM gauge. Being a pre 1910 engine, I was forewarned that it would be a more popular gauge to work with. Thus I have found myself scouring for details on the gauge. Do stay tuned.. I implore!
  2. Howdy All! I have had a small handful of CAD models made already, though I think ill start actually showing off their progress a bit, rather than staying on the down low as I have. This serves in some part to remind me to record my progress with these things. I have done mostly LBSC prototypes in past, though I do have other interests (Particularly NBR, Furnass, & NER) which ill eventually explore. I do sometimes stray into American modelling, though I haven't anything concrete with that <yet>. As it stands, I have two Brighton engines; an E4-X model and a Brighton Well Tank coming out relatively soon, so I may post about that in the next few days. I do have a list of other projects I'm currently, will be doing, or plan to start at some point later. I have also started work on a 10' Barclay and another Brighton engine: Hayling Island/ Inspector, so those will eventually get their own thing when the former engines are finished. Please let me know what you think on these models in future. Best Javier
  3. I may just try that now that you mention. Definitely beats the time it takes to get them shipped.
  4. I have gone through Peter once or twice around to look for these, though perhaps have a look at those eyeglass kits now that you mention it. Thanks! Javier
  5. I recently purchased a set Peckett wheels for a 3d project I have. They are off the Hornby W4 Peckett that was released not long ago, and im looking for the screws for the slide valve and coupling rods. So far I've been unsuccessful in locating anything similar to these. They're under 1mm in bore and seem to have a high thread count from what I can tell. The only thing I've been able to procure is a single eyeglass screw which seems to do the trick, though I cant get a good measure on it. Im asking if anyone knows where I can find the set, or perhaps a similar sized screws to put in their place. I am quite open to suggestions on other methods I can make these fit. Javier
  6. The E6-X is now on the shop! I've also tweaked the models, so it should be able to print in the smoother plastic now! https://www.shapeways.com/shops/caliper-s-paradise-models Happy Modelling! ~Javier
  7. Hello there! This is The designer! I can confirm that I was unsure about how it would print in a higher detail plastic, I am however almost finished making patches to the design that will allow for better detail plastic prints. The only thing stopping me now is finding time to finalize everything: Im putting myself through college studies right bow, and its a right pain! Im elated to see the print on the body Tony! Thank you so much for trying it out! I May make adjustments to the model to help how it looks aesthetically. I will raise the height of the piston block slightly, thus diminishing the size of the saddle: The E5-X has an iconic saddle look that im not satisfied woth the look as it is now. I also want to make those splashers right. Im glad they seem to fit there, but I want to make sure they fit just right, if theres anything you want me to do to fix this please let me know. As for everything else I do plan to have the E6-X ready by the end of this week as well! At that time I will also release the other three versions I have of the E5-X: including the double domed version. Im thinking I may release a LBSC version for the locos, this mainly centers small details such as dome shape and other bits and pieces. There is one detail on all of them I am investigating, it appears in LBSC versions there are a total of seven washout plugs on the firebox, though in later versions there appears to only be four. Ill have to do some snooping to see if they were removed or not, or this is an error by me. In the mean time I hope you enjoy the model Tony! You have a fantastic collection of locos there, and im glad to have been able to contributed to it! Happy modeling! ~Javier
  8. Very much appreciated! The hope is to have everything ready by End of June/Mid July-ish. I wont go without saying a good word on your models: especially the Derwent! Looking forward to what you got there bud!
  9. Hello all! Ive recently purchased a four set of Fleischmann geared wheels for a kit Im assembling. I dont know of any kit conpanies that produce wheels in the US where I live, so I had purchased a used set off eBay. The set is in good condition and I think it will work. My issue lies in that I dont know how to remove the gear off the axle. In fear of damaging the set ive stopped trying to move it. If anyone knows how to safely remive it im all ears. Im unaware of what loco model it came off of, it was listed as steam on the page however. Edit: my plan is to remove the gears off two of the wheels and move one gear to the center of the axle of the third. The fourth I guess will be a spare. The plan is to use a worm gear motor to move the loco in question.
  10. Unfortunately the best I can do at the moment. Have tested on the contacts and it and its most likely definitely the motor. Dont very well know the biology of a motor, but what appears to be one of the magnets inside it is disloged. As I have no means of magnitising it ill have to replace it.
  11. Ah yes, now I do believe it to be a creature of Precision models, as the cars from that set photo were also there. They were however broken up quite a bit which is why I didnt go for them.
  12. So far ive tested it very little, have tried several times gently sliding it on track just to establish if any connection is going through, though it only budges ever so slightly. I dont want to take it apart too much as its made of this bitterly cheap plastic. Ive already had to glue a cylinder back on the front. It definitely needs a new motor, though finding one for hobby is a bit tricky in the US, no Mashima or Alan Gibson here. If anyone knows a supplier id be happy to take a peek at what they got. Edit: I forgot to mention, but David is right. Whats worse is how loose the tyres are on the wheels. Theyre hollow on the inside, so my guess is its machine pressed nickel? Im not very familiar with these vintage sets. Javier
  13. So im trying to service an old triang loco that ive recently found at an antique store. From what I can tell its in pretty decent shape, though it seems the pickups and tyre treads could use some work. I figured the axel boxes needed a dab of lubricant so ive already gone and done that, still to no avail. Im pretty sure the problem now is the brass pickups and perhaps the tyres, though im not sure. If anyone can help me with this id much appreciate it. Ill post photos below for so you know whats up. Thanks, Javier
  14. Thank You so much Penhros! The visual helped me out a lot! I've also seen your thread about drawing a steam locomotive dome. I should also thank Marbelup because he said the exact same thing. I'm not too good at reading instructions, visuals usually help me If anything else has been left out ill leave this topic open for responses... Take Care Guys!!!
  15. Hey guys! I'm an American modeler for British Ho. Right now I'm working on the Lbscr class E1, although I don't know how to make the shape for the roof. It has a weird sort of slope shape, I don't really know what to call it. If anyone knows how to model it in AutoCAD, id appreciate the advice! Take care Guys!

    Hi Guys!

Hello everyone, I'm fairly new at this so please be patient! I'm having trouble making the roofs for a LB&SCR E1 model I'm making. It has a very complex shape at the front and back, along with being on a flat surface. The sides seem to be less of a problem as they're just an arc shape. I'm using AutoCAD 2015 for my models. Anyone familiar with this program, I would really appreciate the help! Thanks Javier! (P.s. I'm having a bit of trouble navigating this site, if theres a page dedicated to this problem I could also use a link, Thanks!)
