  1. Whereas in cities they have streetlights so cycles don't actually need lights...apparently...

(OK so the majority of cyclists I see after dark do have lights...but I find it surprising how many don't, especially the ones dressed in black... And I'd have thought that Deliveroo cyclists would spend enough time on their bikes that they might feel it a worthwhile investment).

I have fitted various attachments to bikes for some of the ladies in our office recently. It has been surprising how little space there is for a mudguard, light and reflector on a ladies mountain bike saddle post, unless you spend out on higher end saddle mounted lights etc.

  2. The area that has never quite sat right with me is the ignoring of age limits on games shown by 90% or so of parents...I am sorry but parents wouldn’t ignore it on an adult movie, so why buy an 11 year old a game rated 18?

Particularly by parents that don’t play such games themselves and are not aware of the full content.

  3. Very common in the US.  The garage is converted into an office until the development is built out and then turned back into a garage.  Surprising in this day and age to see such a small garage for what appears to be a 4BR home!

    Brian.

Ahh you see here in Oxfordshire a dwelling is allowed one parking space if you have one or two bedrooms, and 2 if it has three or more bedrooms. This is hard coded into local planning (zoning) policy.

  4. You can buy one map update for UK/ROI for £34.95 or get four updates for £39.95. Depending on how much driving and how much of the UK road network you use it isn't really necessary to update every year.

On my unit they charge you for missed years to catch up....hence the experience Horsetan mentioned, but with new free for life options it’s not such an issue.

  5. I have used a tomtom for years and been happy with it. I have it connected via an RDS receiver, which picks up traffic updates over a radio signal (data signal piggy backs on classic fm I believe) and offers alternative routes if they should be faster.

Do keep the maps up to date by connecting it too a computer every three months or so.

  6. Book-keeper, surely?

Nope, nothing like that as a distinction. Anyone can call themselves an accountant and offer to do your accounts and taxes, but you will always remain legally liable...the only major thing restricted to chartered accountants is financial audit work ( in particular the signing thereof).

  7. Taking a quick look at the manual for your dishwasher it is rated at 2300watts. If you do choose to try it plugged in elsewhere, make sure any extension cable is rated for 13 amps and fully unwound. (Yes I know 2300 watts is 10 amps...).
