EY UP ! Somewhere in Deepest Devon a 7mm adventure
ThomasG replied to bgman's topic in 7mm+ modelling
Hi G! That sucks, especially in these days! I don't think I can write anything really comforting, but I wish you that your son gets through it well. I keep my fingers crossed! Best regards and best wishes, ThomasG -
A southwestern german Micro Layout

Hi Ulrich! Nice that you like my layout. Usually I don't film in portrait mode, that is also evident in the earlier videos ... Only this time I made a conscious decision because I wanted to have both the lower and the upper edge in the picture and could get closer. Best regards, ThomasG -

A southwestern german Micro Layout
ThomasG replied to ThomasG's topic in Boxfiles, Micro layouts & Dioramas
Hello everybody! It went on again... First a video from the Trix series 98.4-5 (converted to AC), finally my brother installed a decoder. This locomotive is one of my favorites - it looks extremely beautiful, but is also very important to me for another reason: Here in my hometown, locomotives of this series were actually stationed until around the mid-30s. Then two more pictures of the progress: The gap to the background at the back left has been closed. I aged/weathered the roofs and added gutters and downspouts. I wish you a good start into the new week, stay safe & best regards! ThomasG -
A southwestern german Micro Layout
ThomasG replied to ThomasG's topic in Boxfiles, Micro layouts & Dioramas
Hi Armin! Thanks for your nice comment! Fortunately I´ve not only one locomotive... (from left to right) Maerklin BR 98.3 - Maerklin Baden steam railcar "Kittel" - Trix BR 98.4-5 - Maerklin BR 89.70-75 These four are my absolute favorites... Maerklin BR 74 - Maerklin BR 75 (Swabian T 5) These two are actually too big for the micro layout, and almost only run on my other layout (Paulhausen-Ost) - Photos were taken there... Maerklin V36, my only diesel - Liliput Steam storage locomotive There are also a few older locos I normaly don´t use any more. Best regards, Thomas ------------ Hi Kevin! I'm glad if you like the video. Thank you for your kind words! Best regards, ThomasG -

A southwestern german Micro Layout
ThomasG replied to ThomasG's topic in Boxfiles, Micro layouts & Dioramas
Hello! Thanks for the nice comments! Well, my locomotives have certain good driving behavior also because of digital technology. I appreciate slow starting and braking, and also a continuous speed... The whole thing is slowly taking shape, compare the scene (picture above) with the fire fighters: Best regards, stay safe and have a nice weekend! ThomasG -

Paper Cutting - a OO "Book Nook"
ThomasG replied to TechnicArrow's topic in Boxfiles, Micro layouts & Dioramas
Hi TechnicArrow! Very nice idea to built something like this! I like it! I could imagine building something like that for the bookshelf - if I didn't have more books than space for it... Best regards & stay healthy, ThomasG -
A southwestern german Micro Layout
ThomasG replied to ThomasG's topic in Boxfiles, Micro layouts & Dioramas
Hi! Thanks a lot Kevin! Hi everybody! There‘s a bit progress again... I stuck sandpaper everywhere on the still free areas, the white edges won't be visible after ballasting. The houses and the walls between them were fortified, a door was added to one wall... Best regards & stay healthy, ThomasG -
A southwestern german Micro Layout
ThomasG replied to ThomasG's topic in Boxfiles, Micro layouts & Dioramas
Hi! And here is some progress again... On the background I painted clouds and mountains / hills. I made a ramp for the warehouse myself. There are matching ones from Auhagen, but their depth didn't fit, and besides, I didn't find them really nice... I wish you all a good start in the new week! Best regards, ThomasG- 26 replies

A southwestern german Micro Layout
ThomasG replied to ThomasG's topic in Boxfiles, Micro layouts & Dioramas
Hello everybody! @ Kevin, Joern and Steve: Thank you for your nice comments, I was very happy about that! After thinking hard and trying it out, I decided to dispense with a (makeshift-) Platform. That would be too much ... But what happens now if the dice shows a "5"? Now this means that a locomotive change is taking place! If a car is in position D, it is shunted to its corresponding position (A, B or C) by the new locomotive. The car standing there is removed to the Fiddleyard. I would like to end the post with a picture. It is planned to show a fire brigade practice with the aerial ladder on the right-hand building... Best regards, ThomasG- 26 replies

Hello again! A little addition... Here, too, I installed my own uncouplers. You can see how these work in the picture... (Picture is from the Layout "Paulhausen-Ost") And here is a video where you can see how I operate the Uncouplers Best regards, Thomas- 26 replies

Hello everybody! First of all, an apology in advance, if some things are expressed strangely. My english is not that good and google translater helps me a little ... Here I would like to introduce my new project to you: I have been enthusiastic about micro layouts for a long time, but "Hazzard Works - a Knagglig layout" by HonestTom was particularly inspiring for me (many Thanks to HonestTom!!!). I really liked the idea of setting up rules and playing with a dice. But more about the rules later ... The dimensions of this track plan would have been 40cm x 15cm, but after a few tests I decided on a size of 60cm x 20cm… …because it was important to me that the locomotive moves completely into the designed area with every shunting step. Rules of the game: Depending on the type, the wagons are assigned to one of the three positions A, B and C, for example: covered freight wagons on the ramp of a food wholesaler (A), tank wagons to the tank (B) and open freight wagons to the coal bank (C). There is also a “free” position on which freight wagons can be made available (D). This should be designed so that here a small platform or similar. is available. All types of wagons can stand in this position. The game is played with at least seven wagons: (here in the example) Covered freight cars, tank cars, open freight cars (at least two each); and a passenger car / railcar. Appropriate cars are placed in positions A-C before the start of the game. Now you can start: roll the dice ... -… a 1, 2 or 3, the carriage in position A (at 1), B (at 2) or C (at 3) is exchanged with a pedant. If position D is free, the new car is moved there and the old car remains in its position. If a pedant is in position D, it will be shunted to the corresponding position, and the car standing there on the Fiddleyard. -… a 4, you choose a position (A, B or C) and clear it. The position is then filled again after the next turn. -… a 5, a passenger train drives to position D. If there is a car here, it will be moved to its corresponding position beforehand, the car standing there on the Fiddleyard. -… a 6, - wild card! You just choose a move ... To avoid direct repetitions (if you roll the same number in a row), you can roll until another number comes up. The same applies if the dice rolled seems inappropriate (example: a car has just been moved to position D and you then roll a 5). But now finally a few pictures of the progress so far: The shell of the box with Fiddleyard ... Lighting... First facades and buildings, all from Auhagen “Baukastensystem”, all weathered, and partly kit-bashed… Camouflage of the passage to the FY… First additions to the background and loading road ... I hope you enjoyed it, best regards Thomas

Hi David! Very nice, I like your way to build your layout. In your place I would prefer a painted background. It’s not at all difficult to paint one yourself... The advantage: You can "adapt" this exactly to your layout. In any case, I wish you continued fun and success with your system! Best Regards, ThomasG

Hi! Sounds good, but all this on 200mm x 200mm? Surely the area is bigger? I wish you a lot of fun and success! Regards, Thomas -

Hi! Very nice work, I like it. It's always great when I see a new Inglenook Sidings... I designed mine so that I can play also without rules. Various loading points are designed on the tracks. In addition, another track comes in the foreground. How I did that you can watch here: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/131496-paulhausen-ost/&do=findComment&comment=3250147 Maybe you would like to supplement your layout accordingly? I wish you a lot of fun and success in the further construction! Best regards, Thomas
