  1. Hypocrisy? He doesn't mention his name- only in his signature.
  2. Real names seem to be the best thing, but sometimes people have all sorts of nicknames they prefer to their real name. The real name gets 'leaked' anyway, so if you hang around long enough, you'll get to know them. I don't see why people can't use real names- it's frustrating for new members to see terms like 'Ask Rob for the details' when the username being referred to is actually called 4472Scot. N.B. The name isn't real, so don't waste your time hunting for it.
  3. I just wanted to say that Grantham seems MUCH larger than it is now- why? Grantham station is a simple affair nowadays, with 3 through platforms, a bay and a slow goods loop.
  4. I currently have 6 boards, two 4'x2' and four 6'x2'. I have spent the summer moving my very lightweight, 18mm MDF boards around, but to no avail. I have more or less given up on a workable layout. Any help? I work in 00 gauge and would like the opportunity to run an interesting service. A small branch with very little happening doesn't appeal. Thanks!
  5. Nice layout, just what gauge?
  6. The LMS's Down Up Up Down was used quite extensively on MML and other MR line loops. The prolonged loops had this where there was heavy utilisation of the Up loop and limited use of the Down loop, so the Down loop became the unofficial Up third running line. This was also used in reverse.
  7. Didcot 1 1:2 hours.xlsx This is the sketchy chart he drew, made into an Excel spreadsheet
  8. Twyford in the 70s? My friend Tim remembers clocking the train movements over about an hour in 1978. Want it?
  9. Pitlochry is incredibly entertaining and will please anyone and everyone. traffic to Scapa Flow included long goods trains, shorter express goods fitted in amongst the passenger trains and the luxury coaches and trains for the senior officers.
  10. Any suggestions for a very condensed Grantham, it has inspired me to create my own, but such a magnum opus is out of reach for me space-wise, any help?
  11. Up Down Up Down on the GW, Up Down Down Up or Down Up Up Down on the LMS quite often, but otherwise, Up Up Down Down
  12. The platforms consisted of one on the north of the cutting and one island. This allowed the up main to accept trains. There was a signal box there, so trains were flagged through by the signalman. A friend's family recalls paying 3 shillings to travel to London.
  13. The plan Mark assembled is fairly inaccurate, though the history is correct. My grandmother used to remember this.
